  • This Samsung Galaxy S21 review has been a long time coming since its been used on a daily basis. As a matter of fact, its been three months so its time for a long term user review. And honestly, this might be the best smartphone right now in 2021, especially when talking about the Galaxy S21 vs S21 Ultra. It has very similar specs, camera performance and display as the S21 Ultra but its actually the Galaxy S21 price that's the star of the show!

Just ordered the S21, coming from the S8 for almost 4 years. Used the S5 before that. Samsung has earned my goodwill with long lasting, durable phones, though I do wish they would bring back the replaceable battery feature. S8 mostly works fine aside from a few aging quirks, mainly I want a battery I don't have to charge until bedtime. Kinda disappointing the S21 is only an incremental upgrade from 4 iterations ago, but I'm still excited for the new phone. Plus Samsung gave a generous trade in value for the S8, so that helped make my decision too.

My first Samsung smartphone was the S2 then an S5 quickly followed by the S6 edge after some..."accidents" with the S5 lol (remember it was the first Galaxy with water rating lmao). After battery and aging issues with the edge I got the S8 which lasted me all through 4.5+ years until it just...suddenly died 💔 Just placed my order on the S21, but still sad to see the S8 go. I loved that phone; it might be my favourite phone design to date

I have the S10 right now, and it is the first Galaxy phone I have owned, really the first smart phone I've owned, that just feels right in more or less every way. I love it. It has a few tedious things - one thing I remember at the top of ny head, is the fingerprint sensor that works half the time at best. "Oh, you ate a slice of bread and now you have a single grain of flour on your thumb? Good luck unlocking me". Grrrr.
Other than that, I love this damn phone, and it hasn't slowed down even slightly in the few years I've owned it, and battery life is still fantastic.

I honestly don't understand why anyone gets hung up over 1440p on phone screens. 1080p on a 6.2 inch screen works out to a slightly higher pixel density than a 4k 11 inch screen. A 27" 4k monitor, which everyone would describe as 'razor sharp', is about 163 PPI, way less than half of the S21 at 1080p (6.2", 2400x1080 = 424 PPI).
Unless you use you phone with your nose literally rubbing against the screen, 1080p is plenty for small displays.

Great review! I was looking to replace my A50 with the A52 5G, but with a rebate, the S21 5G wasn't all that much more. Don't replace my phone every 6 months (or year!), so the S21's faster processor and 8gb ram should make this a better long-term own phone. Old school I guess, but I prefer a plastic back over glass...as long as the build and feel is solid, and it is, besides, I skin my phones anyway. At $799 + rebate, I didn't break my budget, but got better than a mid-range phone.

I upgraded from an S8 to the S21. The performance of the 21 is on a different level, the 120 Hz screen is a joy to use. But I sure do miss the S8 for its smaller size and the design, it felt like a smooth pebble. Compared to the S8, the S21 feels like a brutal chunk of plastic and glass. My ideal phone would be the S21 in the S8 body.

I'm an S8 user looking to pick up an S21 tomorrow, actually. Only thing that's unsettling me out of all the 'downgrades' from the S20 is the lack of microSD slot, which I like using to stick my mp3s on and have the phone store pics/videos to and know that I can use to add more storage capacity. Guess I'll just have to pay £50 extra for the 256GB option and copy my music via USB, just kind of a bummer knowing there's a risk of losing photos forever unless you back stuff up regularly (and trust the cloud-type storage medium if you're not copying direct to your computer). Other than that, I'm excited for the noticeable 'jump' I'll experience. Hell, even going from an S7 to an S8 was fun in a small way.

By no means I think that the regular S21 is an underdog against its competition because of Samsung's brand premium and the phone's refinement, but it does seem that way when compared to the S21 Ultra and Fold/Flip series by Samsung that dominate most of the market.

I've been using it for a few months now, and it is pretty much the perfect phone. I used to use a Note 20 Ultra, and I hated it so much, so I ended up returning it. I loved the design of the note, but it was just a pain to use and was impractical. The S21 Ultra, on the other hand, it fits my hand perfectly, has a sharp and fast display, is extremely responsive, great camera, there's just nothing wrong with the phone and it really does nothing to piss me off immediately. After using many generations of Samsung phones, I can easily say that this is the one true flagship worth getting since the Galaxy S7 Edge.

@@toohottohandle0_0 Ok so it depends, if you consume a lot of TH-cam or 4k content, then odds are you will be able to tell the difference. However more often then not, there arent many games or apps that support a full 1440 resolution. However since I made this comment, youtube announced that users who had a 1080p display could upscale their stream to 4k. And at this point the upscaling looks exactly like 1440p at this point. So now, there really isn't much of a difference unless your like shoving your face next to the screen.

    • @pcarlson214
      @pcarlson214 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@toohottohandle0_0 Yes...and no! In the store, doing a direct comparison, yeah I could appreciate the S21 Ultra's 1440p display...though even then it was hardly "night and day" different. However, in daily usage I really can't say that I ever caught myself thinking "Gee, I wish the screen was 1440p!" The S21's 1080p resolution is bright/sharp, more than just "adequate" on a 6.2" screen. There simply is not enough visible difference for me to notice outside of a direct side-by-side comparison.

Thanks for the honest review, i was looking fwd for S22 but i am not pretty sure what to buy.
Just one small question, is this phone compatible to connect through its C type port to an HDMI connector and i can then switch the display to a bigger screen. As u had mentioned somewhere in ur video abt this

I just upgraded to an S21 Ultra, which I've really enjoyed so far, but this S21 is an excellent phone with every bit of value and performance you can get with almost any phone out there. Excellent review dude.

This video was a great help in making me decide to get an S21. I have always been an avid iPhone user but fancied a change and wasn't sure how this compared to an iPhone 12. The review was clear and informative. New S21 arriving next week, and I look forward to using it.

this might be a bit late but how was your experience with the S21?

    • @nickfunnell9600

@Robbie Ryan Albert Still loving it. It just does everything the iPhone does and more. I did sometimes think of going back to an iPhone and then I talked myself out of it.
About three months back I got a Pixel 6 Pro and sold the S21 Ultra. Two months later I sold the Pixel and got another S21 Ultra. That's how much I missed it and I'm not going to change it again.

Thank You for a great review, I just purchased two Galaxy S21 and look forward to unboxing and finding out myself. We are coming from Galaxy S7 Edge Phones. Which still work perfectly fine (battery life SH+++Y now). BUT, we have Sprint and they got gobbled up by T-Mobile, who will no longer be supporting CDMA at the beginning of 2022, so we needed new phones. I really wanted that S21 ULTRA, but didn't want the price (2 times) so I think we made a wise choice going with the S21. Thanks again for the information. I think we will be happy.
