Or they’d stop wrapping their boxes in plastic. It’s all for show. Has nothing to do about the environment. All about saving money. Having adhesive stickers to seal the box like Samsung does would cost Apple $2.78 more per phone. Hence why they still use plastic wrap.

iPhones consistently get a 6/10 for repairability from iFixit. Samsung’s phones score 4 and below. Now Apple does have some very anti right to repair policies but overall replacing the two most common things screen and battery are much easier on an iPhone than most phones. Samsung does deserve credit on their wearables such as the Galaxy Buds being very repairable, as AirPods are eventually disposable products as the battery is not replaceable which considering that’s a consumable component is unacceptable.

  • @malebolgiasatan

I actually switched from the note 9 to the S21 Ultra and I am very pleased with it! The battery life is great, the screen is absolutely beautiful and buttery smooth with that 120hz. I actually looked at the difference between the two when I was transferring my stuff over and was like, how can I ever go back to 60hz. This screen has ruined me for lower refresh rates. Lol I enjoyed using the pen on my note 9, but haven't had a time when I was really disappointed that I no longer have it. It was convenient, but I don't miss it as much as I thought I would.

The battery leaves only a little to be desired, but I play games and watch videos in 1440p and 2160p a lot, so I could see that I'm not the average person for power consumption. The camera is amazing. Just got back from a trip to the zoo and got some amazing pictures. Had a great opportunity to try the night mode there. They have an exhibit full of nocturnal animals and the camera performed beautifully in the dark to get some pictures of those animals. Have had 0 major issues with the phone. One of the only kinks I think they could work on is the keyboard. I switched to Gboard and still see some of the same bugs, so idk. I recently added the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic and it helps so much with notifications and keeping an eye on the time. Can't wait for Google assistant to be added as Bixby is still a pain.

Basically you press the number keys that are associated with the letters in a contacts name in the dialler using the old t9 system. Where 1 is associated with punctuation, 2 is "abc", 3 is "def", 4 is "ghi" and so on.
For example, let's say you have someone called Oliver in your contact list and they're not in your recent call history.
You can open the dialler and press 654 and any contact with a name that has a combination of "mno" "jkl" "ghi" in that order will appear in the list, and the more keys you press that fill out the name the more results that will be filtered out until you're left with just the one exact match.
It's a super convenient feature if you regularly call a lot of different people and the entry for a person is way down the call history list or you have a lot of contacts to go through to find the one you want.
It also works on numbers not saved in your contacts but is in your call history, so if you can remember at least a couple of the digits you can quickly bring it up again.

@@supra107 I understand the frustration but they likely have a lot of data to support that these were good cost cutting measures that very few people care about. The charger they would need to actually ask people but I'll bet they gather device data to know the percentage of users and utilization rate of using headphone jacks and microsd cards. And while I've done both on my S10e I've probably only used the headphone jack a handful of times and the microsd card is basically unnecessary because I still have 40GB free of internal storage. I'm also disappointed but it makes sense to me.
So while it is their decision, it's likely based heavily on the users decisions of how they use their phone. Like half the people complaining about the drop to 1080p screens probably never realized their old samsung phone was set to 1080p from the factory.

Some thoughts from someone who has had an s21 ultra for a few months now:
-i thought I'd miss my s pen. I really don't. It was a novelty to begin with for me.
    - the battery life is sweeeeeeet. 5k battery ftw
    - the lack of a physical SD slot isn't really an issue. The phone has a lot of internal memory, and if I'm interested in swapping the photos to another device, there are plenty of free cloud services to use(google, OneDrive).
    My main complaints were
-having to search for the power button. It's not physical anymore unless you mess with the settings.
-the "Free" software, which is what pops up when you swipe left on the home screen, is blah. I haven't tried to remove it yet via settings, but I wish it wasn't there.
Overall, great phone. If you're an Android user, it doesn't get much better than this at this point in time.

@@aakarshsaggar7795 First, I appreciate you being respectful in your query.
It is, I grant you, plenty of space for most people's operations. I'm just one of those people that likes to have contingency plans. Things that I want to just be able to move from phone to phone (videos, photos, that kind of thing) with an SD card. Easier than re-copying everything to a new phone. Especially in case something smashes my phone I'll be more likely to get the micrSD card out than anything off built in memory.
Other thought is if you decide to start shooting in 4K video for all your life's stuff that's going to fill up space pretty quickly. Always better to have expandable memory, IMO. May not be necessary for everyone.
I've got around 100 GB of stuff on my SD card right now and it's a 400 GB card. I plan to put more things on it going forward. My S10E is the 256 GB model so that would fill up a solid chunk of the space.
Disclaimer: My wife has an iPhone and she doesn't mind. I don't mind other people going that route, I just don't want the option to permanently go away for my own selfishness. :-D
Just my 2 cents. I just prefer it for my use case. I'll stop pontificating now.

I've used a Oneplus 6T Mclaren for 2 years now. Battery still easily lasts all day, I'm a power user, and I only use 30 watt quick charge.
I don't think quick charge has a noticeable effect on battery life, at least in my experience. I feel like sometimes people stress too much about battery lifespan because usually its fine, and if you really needed to you could get the battery replaced.
IMO, being able to fully charge my device in 30 minutes is worth the possible longevity decrease. The next phone I get will definitely have 60 watt charging cause who gives a shit about your battery life when you can do a full charge in 15 minutes
Edit: I checked my battery health after 2 years of only quick charge 30 watt and it is at 79%. I think that is acceptable.

I just don't understand why people go nuts over the color or the finish of a darn phone.
At least for me and most people I know we put on a case and never see it.
Also why make the back of the phone out of glass???? WHY???
I'll never forget a news cast where there was this guy who stood in line for hours
for his new iphone. He goes to remove it from the box on live TV and drops it!

I'm still on my Note 9 as well. Phone's been great. Got it from the Preorder. My favorite thing is I still get through a work day using it all day and it's almost 3 years old. Been a fantastic phone.

I don't know how do they make these reviews, but my guess (based on some hints from other shortcircuits) is that someone has sings and they read them

@@gerhardsmith7892 he just has a teleprompter he reads off of on most video's, but short circuit is a more laid-back channel where he just generally talks about the phone with little scripting.

Its not that hard to read phone specs online right before capturing the video...

Yooo same. I also dabble in sound engineering and tweaked my EQ. And my god. The sound from this phone is actually legendary.
