I'm loven my k24a swoped 07 si coupe!!!! That power down low isn't like any other honda I've EVER HAD........ hands down the fastest modestly stock Honda I've come across to this date. An I've owned 6 or 7 myself. Love the content.

The only reason the crack harder is because k20 has less power before vtec. It feels like the crack is harder because of this. K24 frank more power every where in the room range

I haven't owned a car with k24 but i've had a k20a2 and k20z3 love them both. Thinking of doing 24/20 for engine build.
That's what I did. K24a/k20z1 head. It'll make your car feel lighter because of the added power. I'm running a stock ECU too. Have been for 3 years. It pulls harder every where to redline. They're just bigger motors with the same awesome cylinder head. You won't regret it bro

Luis Batres it really is bro! I wasn’t really shifting as hard as I could because It was my first race with the new swap, So I was just seeing what the torque could do. Very, very impressed with the swap. K20z3 are beastly at high rpms 🤘🏼
Type-s oil pump for next mod you'll love it. I was seeing 8200-8400 rpms no problems on semi built and turbo charged on stock block. Hehe.

So do you recommend a cold air intake over a short Ram for a Honda civic? I have a k20 with a lot of modifications but was unsure if I should switch from a cold air intake or keep the short ram..
Cold air, no hot air intakes.
Cold air man. Cold airs two benefits are lower intake temps and more power due to ambient temps from filter location 🤘🏼
Your factory air box makes the same power as a cai... The only real need to get a cai is for the noise or if u boost it... Dyno numbers don't lie folks... Some cai s. Will make less power then the factory air intake.. Google, TH-cam it or ask a Dyno tuner... Don't listen to these clowns. Facts
@@johnnythegreek58 So dropping IATs to almost outside temp doesn't increase hp? Have you seen the IATs from the stock airbox on an 8th gen? The stock airbox is super restrictive if you've ever pulled one out and looked at it. Dropped my IATs by 20 degrees. K20s need to breathe. Yes, technically CAIs are better for boost, but this motor loves it. We weren't even talking about the stock box anyways. We're saying why suck in air right off the header with a short ram when you can suck in much cooler air from near the bottom of the bumper?
K20z3 Keith as a Dyno tuner at a very reputable shop, why yes.... Yes i have seen the temps, the Dyno numbers, and so on. I have seen at most a 5 hp gain on a stock motor.. We got bored at work and tried all kinds of things to a stock k20 and a k24. Cai, no intake filter, factory, under the hood and the list went on until we were using a leaf blower to help force air in... The cai made less power until vtec then made 3 hp ( not a noticeable difference), the under the hood intake made 3-5hp less, no filter made 3-5hp, factory intake with drop in air filter made 4hp. Lol blower made 6hp...so go buy a leaf blower and calm down. Those numbers are so close they are what we call with in the Dyno room of error.
The cai etc needs cams, headers, fueling, tune as a group to make power.. By its self it's noise and looks cool... Facts

I love my k24 civic si 2dr super fast I ran a 15 flat quarter mile I’m going to put skunk2 exhaust header and Honda data hopefully I can run a 14.0 flat
There is not a lot of difference between the K24 and K20... the difference is simply the torque. The k20 and K24 make very similar power numbers in terms of HP.. But the torque of the K24 will always win out of the K20 when going head to head. I daily my Type S, so the K24 is just a lot more versatile for everyday needs. You dont need to rev out to 6k to get power and get a rush. I think the K20 is ideal for the track tho and AutoX when you need that high RPM and are always in higher RPM.. Thats why so many do the K20 head swap.

@@TheGerbsteve Nice so it was an incredibly close comparison in terms of mods.. Love how hard that K24 pulls.. And the pull is so much more subtle in the k24.. What I want to see once you have the tune dialed in is a WOT 2-3rd gear pull lol.. Maybe a 20-60 pull. Thats the bread and butter of the K24.. I couldnt WOT 2nd at all until I just got some sticky Summer tires. I scared the SHIT out of my girl the other day with one.. Was just going slow in 2nd around 3000rpm, then a I just punched it.. If Only i had a gopro my man! lol
Gerb .. No that's not really it... ( saying the other guy is a good driver). ....The K20 and the K24 make VERY similar power numbers... The K24 just makes a few more hp and to. It's really a silly swap with out doing the k20 head on the K24. But even more cost per HP is just boost either of them. Even at a LOW power boost tune of 350 hp, it's night and day. And still reliable with a quality Dyno tune

@@RideHardInd215 I'm not 100% sure on the details, I haven't looked at the exact CFM rating of each head. Might want to ask 4piston or prayoonto themselves to see if they actually have real numbers
@@RideHardInd215 the rsx and civic SI heads flow better from mid to high rpm. The TSX/k24a heads flow better from low to mid rpm. You want a frank because the k24 adds that torque your missing, then the a2 z1 z3 heads allow the k24 to breath easier mid and up top. I spin my frank to 8350. Pulls harder than the k20 everywhere.
Make sure you race someone that knows how to drive a k20 for a fair race that kid was baby shifting lol

There is not alot of difgernce in the two as far as I can tell down low in the gears but If you mod the K24 it has a littke more torque so I guess thats why they do it but a modded k20 is blazzing fast and is more fun to drive I think

If you truly want to make power, boost it.
The K24 feels a lot more peppy because of the torque but its really not. Just a bit faster. Both GREAT motors though.
I don't know what looks more silly, that shifter or your seat laid back but you are leaning forward..smh

@user-un4kq8mx7b k20s LOVE boost. As far as how long it will last depends on how much boost you throw at it, how well it's tuned, and how aggressive you're right foot it.. If you run it up to about 400hp and don't act a fool daily, it will last quite a while. If you turn the boost way up and push 650hp plus and you beat on it, it may let go.
K20s and k24s take a boost better than most stock engines. They rev so high, they push a lot of exhaust air, which spools turbos, and they are built pretty well in stock form.
They perform so well that some people/TH-camrs have built successful channels that focused on the K20s and K24s (example: Boosted Bois)
At the end of the day, how long an engine lasts on boost depends on that engine's build quality, how much boost you throw at it, how hard you drive it and it's tune. Nothing lasts forever.

GEORGE LOPEZ HOW TO DO IT YOUR SELF People told him over and over to do the oil pump when the motor was out. He chose not to. He also should’ve put the K20 head on that K24. He chose not to. He replaced all of his motor mounts and left the most *important* mount on this car stock (rear mount). Gerb seems to have an ego problem. He doesn’t take advice until after the fact it seems.

K20z3 🙌
K20z1 and K24a2 are the best US K-series.. K20Z1 is the most similar to the JDM K20A in the Type R and have almost identical cam profiles. Only difference is the compression. But the K20z3 and K20A2 are still great motors.
