  • On this leg of my trip, I returned back to the Ashanti region, the region of my birth, for the first time in 10 years. Both my parents are Asante so this trip was extra special. We spent the day learning about the history of Kente cloth and its significance. I also took part in a fufu cooking class and learned about the various uses of the cocoa plant. After we went to learn about traditional Adinkra symbols. On the second leg of our trip in the Ashanti region, we visited the Manhyia Palace museum.

Videos like yours serve as tether or lifeline to the African Diaspora who are so desperate to reconnect with the culture, food, music, sound, scenery of homeland. Being forced under penalty of death to abandon nearly all that makes a people a distinct group, African Americans have reinvented nearly every aspect of life for a NeoGenesis of life. Everytime that we can reconnect with our brothers and sisters it strengthens and invigorates us.
