I’m so glad I found your channel. Im transitioning back into eating plant based and my husband is Ghanaian and I mean this man don’t enjoy anything but Ghanaian food. He says it’s the biggest con of being in the US. If I can get a few vegan ghanian dishes under my belt it will make things a lot easier for me. The hardest part about being plant based for me ( which is why I stopped after 2 years ) is now I have a family and everyone eats different. Picky kids, husband who grew up with a completely different taste pallet, and me the vegan. 😂

Thank you so much for creating your channel! I'm a vegetarian transitioning to become a vegan and your channel is a MUST for me. Though I am Haitian-American, I truly want to cook vegan West African recipes. Thanks for everything ❤

I loved that last tip of "looking inward to your culture". It has really inspired me to look further into my own and learn more about our (South Indian) traditional grains and ways of cooking. More millets for me too! :-)

Hi Afia! I love your videos. I have an idea for your "millet Mondays" series. The millet porridge and the tuo zaafi looks amazing to me and they're something I'd like to try. I am happy to go to a new grocery store to seek out ingredients, but I'm afraid I wouldn't even recognize what I'm looking for when I got there. Maybe you could take us along on a shopping trip and show us exactly what we're looking for at the grocery store? There is an African grocery in my town, but I've never been. Or even if you could show us a package of the millet flour you used so I have an idea. Or maybe you milled the millet yourself? Thanks.

Hi! Thanks for the suggestion. Millet Mondays is more so for short-form content so make sure to check out my shorts and reels. I have a full video of the porridge recipe that is linked in the description box and this video gives a pretty comprehensive overview of the TZ. As for shopping, I will have to think about it. A lot of African stores look so different and there are not really standard brands, the shop owners are so helpful so I always rely on them to find something. Thanks again for watching :)

Its the wink for meeee lol! Everything looks absolutely delicious - I have got to try Ghanian vegan food one day but until then, Im going to try making one of your dishes. The tofu is calling my name. Love how you simmered it first, never thought to do that! Also loved seeing your personality shine in the vid. Keep it up girl ❤

I'm glad I found your channel, and I hope to find more content like it! I'm French, white-ish, and not vegan but vegetarian at home and trying to adopt vegan options wherever I can. English speaking TH-cam has been super helpful to incorporate vegan options from Korean, Italian, or Middle-Eastern tradition, but I have wanted to learn West African cuisine for a while, as it is a big part of French-related culture (literally my street is filled with African supermarkets) but it's still quite intimidating and foreign for me!

this video was so awesome! I'm excited to try adding peanut to my spice blends. what else is in that spice blend? I'm not sure how to spell it but it but my best guess is "tsamtsuma oyadji spice" if that helps. It sounds amazing.

I find now that I have diabetic chronic kidney disease stage 2, that cutting down on animal based products, learning more from other cultures, I have decided that my culture is all cultures. everything is beautiful and tasty and I just wish it was more accessible in my area. I think ghanian, japanese, nepali, ethiopian foods would be lovely to have in my area but its getting people to just try something new that's the issue.
