I have been with GameStop for almost 9 months now. I have never once was a douchebag to a customer like that. People like him give us employees at GameStop look like assholes. My store in Colorado would never do any of those things.
I worked in electronics at Walmart probably just a little before you worked at Gamestop. I was the same about warning over shitty games. If I had played a game or heard from a few friends that a game was garbage, I would tell people so professionally. Of course, if they still wanted it, I would accommodate graciously. But I never told someone a shitty game was good to make a sale.
I got hired in as an ASL off the street. 3 months later, I was Store Lead. Still am. I have a love/hate relationship with my job. Yes. There are some things that I would definitely change "if I were king"... but overall, while at least at my store, it's pretty stressful a lot of the time, it's a decent gig. My biggest gripe, honestly, is just lack of allocation for man-hours. But this guy... if he was my ASL, he'd definitely be on final at the very least.
LOL this is hilarious! I remember watching this awhile back. And even back then I remember thinking "This guy is kind of a douche..." He CLEARLY is taking the job and himself too seriously. He's kind of like a new hire rookie cop that thinks he's king shit because he thinks he can now legally bully people. I just came across this and listening to that guy talk, he made me realize that the Gamestop I go to is waaaaay more lax and tame. I wish they would put the wrong game in my case...
My store had 9 extra switches outside of the 29 pre orders so we were able to give some. The Best Buy in my town had 5 for the public. When it comes to Nintendo stock, it is definitely Nintendo, not GameStop. But I've only been working here for a few weeks and have yet to see us not have any new games in stock. I also work in Lansing, Michigan so maybe my region isn't as gamer-populated as others.
+Jake Fether the best buy in my town 100 for the public. 200 through preorder, 2 other best buys in similar situations within 30 miles. The GameStop near me had 2 extras. It's definitely GameStop. I did a video on the Xenoblade issue, it's what hurt GameStop and Nintendo's relationship.
Customers that hang out at the store almost always suck. For the most part they are hanging out with you because they know you can't leave. Buy something or get the fuck out. Also game stop isn't some exclusive club you have to know someone it's a shitty retail job.
i bought one game there he said we only have the floor model left he gave it to me didn't show me the back of the disc like they always do i looked just in case and it was scratched to hell and back i said give me back my money it looks like someone took this home and put it in the dryer with razor blades
that is how bad the game looked i'm pretty sure it wouldn't even work but this what the psn store is for but i would rather have a disc so i can make a profit on it in 30 years when the games become a classic
In my area its as the guy said. You have to know someone to get a job there. We have three GS in a small town, they are about 5 minutes apart from one another... which makes no sense, which is why they shut their 4th store down. But generally speaking everyone who works at our GS knows each other prior to being hired. Most of them played other games together prior to getting the jobs (MTG and other card games. My dad owns the only comic/card shop in town so thats pretty much how I know those details of them).
Wep is standard and wpa is the 26 bit encription right? Its litrally been like 8 years since ive messed with a router since everwhwere ive lived its been shared wifi already set up and i never had to do anything besides reset the server connection every blue moon by unplugging it, more of a cpu, gpu, psu kinda guy (hardware lol)
Back Pocket Game Reviews Ah, is that what he is? Makes sense now, the cool kids always hated me and I never thought much of them. *edit* I hate autocorrect.
gamestop's policy on checking out games is that you can take home new games its not up to the store manager however the manager you return it to is supposed to make sure it is still in new condition when you return it and if it isn't you need to buy it. That is actually in the employee handbook they give you day one. If its a low resereved game that isn't a huge game they do run out and if they don't sell all the copies they wouldn't get more copies sent to the store.
I can confirm the taking "Used" games home. I dont shop at gamestop unless its a last resort. a few years ago I bought Bioshock the 3rd installment used copy. this was a few weeks after the launch. When I went up to the counter the manager was like this is the last copy we have and I have it at home if you come back in 20 mins I can go run and get it. I left at that moment and never went back. it just left a bad taste with me. If its ur only copy you would think you wont take it home.
so they can really take new games home play them and then still sell them as a new copy? What about when a few game develpers went the path of online passes?
I pissed off a GameStop manager because I would buy used games and return them before the 7 day return policy was up. I did this so much I lost track of how many games I played. They got me when they gave me a gift card instead of my usual cash. I didn't realize the mistake of accepting that card till I went back a week later and wanted my cash back, they said no. Lol ooops!
I really enjoy these videos. I work for gamestop in a roundabout way. EB Games in Canada is owned by them but at least where I work things are actually pretty different and in a good way. So for me it's like hearing about my jobs evil twin. Kind of perks me up hearing about these horror stories. We never take home new or used games as employees. That's grounds for termination we'd consider that theft.
Yeah and there are definitely some policies that carry over and are universal. Whenever there's a new policy put in place we know just from the sound of it whether it's from gamestop head office or if its from whoever is in charge of the Canadian policies.
+unknown stuntman fun fact Game the UK retailer, used to be EB games. But they bought them selves out. Supposedly they are doing alright now that they aren't GS affiliated
Game stop is something else. My second job ever was this place. So much terrible stuff went on. All the underhandedness just to sell memberships and preowned games to people who dont know better, just so i could get more than 3 hours a week to get gas for college. Admitted, i was not the best at selling stuff, but i was a great employee outside of that. I interacted with customers, kept the store clean, games and collectibles always looked nice. I even dusted every time i worked. But still i only got 3 hours a week. Most of my coworkers were great, but my manager was a dick. Im 20 years old living with my mom and going to college. Im doing my best. Since im 20, food stamps required i give them some stuff involving my hours and how much i worked for and a signature from my manager. This guy is 21 and was being discriminating towards me and my mom as if i even had a choice in the matter and saying things like "oh, youre those kinda of people." Like whats that supposed to mean?? Then Im autistic. Like diagnosed multiple times. He's 100% aware that i am, yet would call me "retarded" and "stupid" when he was annoyed with my work. So as revenge i bought his Samus and metroid amiibo pack that he has held in the employee hold drawer for mooonths. I love the amiibos too making my collection up to 10. Game Stop has been kinda ruined for me after working there. There use to feel like a kinda magic at first
It's always funny when I talk about things they do, you always have the ones that doubt me. Sadly GameStop probably does worse then even what I have talked about!
Yeah, I worked at gamestop, and I wouldnt say customers are "stupid" but the main reason why I didnt like the job is the customers. (Its probably just retail environment in general) but they can be so rude and entitled, and treat employees like they arent actual humans, its ridiculous.
3:25 isn't that what you did Nick? This guy talks as if he knows all the GameStop stores... I don't think anybody would waste the time to do that anyways Edit: (it won't let me reply, so I decided to just do it this way) I thought somebody asked you to work at GameStop right? So in a way, you did walk in and get hired. I forgot which video you said that in, and I don't feel like looking for it tbh
hey Nick I'm not sure if you can answer my question since you no longer work at GameStop but, have you heard about the Pro gaming pass? if so can you make it better talking about it.

+Josh Powers lol the dryer with razor blades, that's a new one.
that is how bad the game looked i'm pretty sure it wouldn't even work but this what the psn store is for but i would rather have a disc so i can make a profit on it in 30 years when the games become a classic
This guy was a store manager? WHAT?
+TechTaste right I felt the same way. But I had plenty of douchey tools as SMs while I was at GS so it doesn't shock me
Please try to find more videos like this and do the same because this is comedy gold at its finest.
+FaZe Taliban he has a whole series of these
hopefully you will make a new series.
That is correct. But WPA is actually becoming more the the standard.
That dude he's roasting his voice sounds like Brock Lesnar
+Piznick64 I don't see the similarity but could just be me
Oh dear... huh... I knew I hated humans. He doesn't do anything to restore my faith in them.
+Diabolical Kitsutora you mean he doesn't seem like the coolest kid in school?
"All the other kids with the pumped up kicks"
Back Pocket Game Reviews
Ah, is that what he is? Makes sense now, the cool kids always hated me and I never thought much of them.
*edit*
I hate autocorrect.
+Diabolical Kitsutora lol
gamestop's policy on checking out games is that you can take home new games its not up to the store manager however the manager you return it to is supposed to make sure it is still in new condition when you return it and if it isn't you need to buy it. That is actually in the employee handbook they give you day one. If its a low resereved game that isn't a huge game they do run out and if they don't sell all the copies they wouldn't get more copies sent to the store.
But if it has been played it isn't new. That is literally a contradictory statement
Need more of this - this. Was. Awesome.
+pinkwho lol some people love and others hate this video. Had a lot of people tell me it was wrong to go after this guy.
I filled an application and I'm still waiting if they pick me if they don't then I guess gotta apply somewhere else
+Yukime San dude apply at Best Buy they have a higher starting pay
Thanks for the advice
+Yukime San anytime buddy
I hit the subscribe button because of this video. Thanks for the laughs -- I'm off to part two. XD
What is the differences between the WEP key and the other one bro?
+Sneezygreenmage WEP and WPA?
I can confirm the taking "Used" games home. I dont shop at gamestop unless its a last resort. a few years ago I bought Bioshock the 3rd installment used copy. this was a few weeks after the launch. When I went up to the counter the manager was like this is the last copy we have and I have it at home if you come back in 20 mins I can go run and get it. I left at that moment and never went back. it just left a bad taste with me. If its ur only copy you would think you wont take it home.
+Deadpunk69 new games are allowed if the sm is ok with it
so they can really take new games home play them and then still sell them as a new copy? What about when a few game develpers went the path of online passes?
+Deadpunk69 depending on the store manager yes
thats crazy, your videos have sigle handedly made me stop shopping at gamestop.
+Deadpunk69 happy to enlighten you
Sometimes I stop by Gamestop just to mess with the managers. Tell them I love digital games haha
+discombobulatedhomey lol
I pissed off a GameStop manager because I would buy used games and return them before the 7 day return policy was up. I did this so much I lost track of how many games I played. They got me when they gave me a gift card instead of my usual cash. I didn't realize the mistake of accepting that card till I went back a week later and wanted my cash back, they said no. Lol ooops!
How does age affect the chances of getting hired?
Not at all if your over 18
I really enjoy these videos.
+unknown stuntman so EB when it was here in the US was a much better company. Unfortunately GS had the money to buy them
Yeah and there are definitely some policies that carry over and are universal.
7:02 “he can think”😂😂😂😂
Respond to them all! "JUST DO IT!"
+Joey Sookov Jr I think I have to lol
*mortal kombat voice over* finish him!
+Bigolelevi video 2 coming Friday!
"he can think" xDD
Yeah, I worked at gamestop, and I wouldnt say customers are "stupid" but the main reason why I didnt like the job is the customers. (Its probably just retail environment in general) but they can be so rude and entitled, and treat employees like they arent actual humans, its ridiculous.
I did a worst customers video. It's mostly me just picking at the specific types you get in a GS.
Good job on the editing.
+Ismael Hinojosa it was all my wife. But I did this thumbnail
Thanks for editing the video lol
3:25 isn't that what you did Nick? This guy talks as if he knows all the GameStop stores... I don't think anybody would waste the time to do that anyways
Edit: (it won't let me reply, so I decided to just do it this way)
I thought somebody asked you to work at GameStop right? So in a way, you did walk in and get hired. I forgot which video you said that in, and I don't feel like looking for it tbh
+Zuffin - isn't what, what I did
Hey dude I was seeing things of game stop and found think can of useful and I was watching your videos and I got attached love your vids man keep up
+silver bullet thanks buddy happy you are enjoying the content.
I stopped going to gamestop before it got really bad now I just go to target which is in the same parking lot as my nearest gamestop
He was of those dude bros that I would want to smack across the face more than do a fist bump.
My 3ds is refurbished and works perfectly
hey I like sitting on a cactuar for 15 minutes, how dare u. I love this btw
+Robert Cisneros I think this was one of my most impressive video to date
hey Nick I'm not sure if you can answer my question since you no longer work at GameStop but, have you heard about the Pro gaming pass? if so can you make it better talking about it.
+young kobe Pro gaming pass?
Yea check their twitter if you don't know what I'm talking about.
+young kobe it's just a bonus sale for power up rewards members
Oh ok thanks
+young kobe haven't seen you in forever!
What kind of headphones are those? They look nice.
+Rey Bolanos Skullcandy Hesh 2
ayy who else feelin they should fight and shit, im trying to see who's made a bitch in this fight
could you do more of these videos?!
+Revy The Ghost I plan on it.
he DEFINITELY doesnt know how the internet works or the difference between WEP/WPA 😂😂😂
+Meghan Elisabeth this dude has more videos too!
sometimes a customer does something which warrants a comment after the customer leaves.
+CJ Hawarden does this guy make you think the person warranted it. He blatantly gives people bad game recommendations
Back Pocket Game Reviews They likely didn't. This guy appears to be a douche and I wouldn't go to his store knowing that he worked there.
Back Pocket Game Reviews He's just a glorified bully in a manager position. He sounds very condecedning and I can only imagine what his home life is like.
