While today Im deep down the rabbit hole of guitar gear/amps for the past few years, and am fortunate to own many, i grew up a drummer... My best friend, a guitarist, had this MkIV combo and was the only amp I had to mess around with as a teenager... I never realized for all these years (going back to 1994) how spoiled i was to have a friend with this amp... It holds a special place in my heart.
I also prefer my MkIV to my buddy's IIC+ and on my Mark 5s I use the MkIV mode even though the IIC+ is honestly identical to his real one through the same cabinet (we have done back to back testing). I think the crunch channel on the IV is crazy good as well, and often overlooked.
If you want to boost a mark series you always dial in more preamp bass, if your amp got a master pull deep even better It also definitely likes BB preamps over almost all boosts, since it doesn't really add any mids, and has a bass control
I agree with the overdrive opinion. I actually use a Black Forest distortion instead of an overdrive through the front of my mk IV to round out the tone a bit.
I have this exact amp, from 1991. It’s a power house but the built in speaker sounds boxy and anemic. I’m assuming you have it going through your Mesa 4x12? It sounds big and bold so must be…
Are you playing through a C 90 or vintage 30 speaker curious on how a T 75 was on the old vented ones or at least vented 75 with a vintage 30 combo would sound pretty brutal any thoughts?
I've wanted one of these amps, either combo or head forever now, just impossible to get around me. Kinda sucks, but I've waited 30 years to get some amps and guitars I've wanted lol
Boxy and anemic. I have one of these, I’m looking to cut the amp into a head format as the speaker is basically unusable and weighs as much as the sun’s core.
Man I've had like three or four of those things and could never get them to sound good. All were dark and distant sounding and jacking treble and presence didn't work. Not even close to comparable to the 2c+s I had at the time.

You couldn’t have picked a better amplifier to kick off this new/old video format. I dig it!
That silver burst brought the punishment to that Mark IV. Love it.
Mark IV > 2C+. There I said it. Especially if you take pricing into consideration.

The MkIV is the greatest implement of amplification known to mankind. Nothing makes me want to play and create like my widebody RevB 1x12.
Glad to see you kept this one around for now! I do semi regret sellin it to you somedays lmao
😢
FANTASTIC VIDEO! THIS IS HOW ITS DONE!
Thank you my friend!
A friend of mine had one of these. I loved it. We got all the shredder tones out of it. Killer amp.
I've got a Rev B head and it's such an amazing amp. So aggressive and tight.
sounds awesome!
Love to see a few more of these combo amp reviews, new and older, very cool.
I like these kind of videos A LOT! Keep on doing them!! 👏👏
Awesome video!! thanks for the demo!!!
NICE EPI DUDE!!!
Heck yeah! More of this stuff!
Such a great amp

Sounds awesome brothür - great demo

Love it!
Dude that sounds so good and pissed!
Sound fucking killer
Damn. That sounds awesome
Great amp!
I have a Mark IVA and great demo of the amp! \m/

Sick vid as always support from puerto rico
Great content
I really love the MESA Mark 3 Red Stripe out of all the Mark series amps. Mark 4 is a close second imho
I feel the same about my black dot🤙🏼
Blue stripe 🎉
This is my one only amp I refuse to sell. It's just that good.
I’ve got one. Its deadly.
Same, I've had it for 20 years. Will never sell it.
@@darekpeszt3640 also own a lot of explorers, its like this was made for me LOL !
Sick!!
Sounds so good! Now where do I buy one?..
NO RULES. just pick whatever to keep it spicy

wish you would have put the mic on the combo amp speaker instead of the cab
Its not going thru both
whutt
Dayum! 🔥

I paired mine with 2x12 C-90 & Evm 12l, doesn't sound better than 4x12 V30!
Bare Knuckle Rebel Yell pick ups 👍
Have you bypassed the 1x12 of the combo to mic the 4x12 instead ?

How does the combo speaker sound? I know the Mesa recto cab always sounds dope.
Boxy and anemic. I have one of these, I’m looking to cut the amp into a head format as the speaker is basically unusable and weighs as much as the sun’s core.
heck yeah bro, both channels rip.
Glad you dig them man! Thanks for the support
Intro riffs? I don't recall that actually happening in the intro of this video?
I want one. Can't Get One here.
Get that new iic+ ..will it buy until you review! lol.
Prefer the Rev B. but the Mark IV is still the Mesa GOAT!
Rev A is beefier. I had a B low for an A. R2 on the rev A sound much better to me too. But I may be biased.
>quick riffs
>24 minutes
whar

Happy post-election day everyone! God bless America!!!!
The best metal amps are Mesa Mark amps. imho.
For leads maybe. Recto/5150 reign supreme with rhythm
I don’t know about that - think my black dot would put those kids to bed.🤘🏼
The mark 4 and 5 are great. The mark 7 is really disappointing imho.
I don’t personally agree but I will say I kept my IV and sold my VII
please, compare it to the Peavey Triumph head
