im seeing more of these "x tuning riffs videos" recentlt and i am so happy lmao. they make me find/rediscover bands i havent heard in a while. great video!
1:06 The Lines - Beartooth 1:27 Stricken - Disturbed 1:49 Becoming The Bull - Atreyu 2:11 Marigold - Periphery 3:02 My Curse - Killswitch Engage 3:18 Nothing Left - As I Lay Dying 4:10 Cutthroat - Blessthefall 4:37 Waking The Demon - Bullet For My Valentine 5:14 My Apocalypse - Escape The Fate 5:36 Hollow Bodies - Blessthefall 6:14 White Washed - August Burns Red
I always love seeing any of the original ETF stuff. I remember being in the studio and even though it was our first record, we all could just feel that we had something special
Dude, it was definitely special! I remember going through highschool at the time, and hearing Situations for the first time. I was so inspired by yall and it made me the musician i am today. I am and always will be a huge fan 😄
@HighImpaktAudio I’m always still extremely humbled to this day by anyone sharing their story of connecting with our music. If you ever wanna collaborate on a video just respond here to hmu. Could be cool.
@MaxGreen1031 thank you so much dude! Collaborating would be so awesome 😄 right now I got alot on my plate with the channel, but we definitely should in the future. If you have any ideas for the collab I'm always open to input! You're the best Max!
Man you are right there haha I love the Marigold riff so much too which makes it worse when the riff hurts to play 🤣 thank you for enjoying my video dude!
Just now watching, sounded great but the first couple of songs were you struggling with stretching new strings to hold tuning or do an intonation adjustment after those because your later riffs were on point. Great tones and I’m always a killswitch engage and as I lay dying fan. Although if you want some new material to check out some trivium my dude!
Shout out to some Mastodon riffs in Drop C. That verse riff from Ghost of Karelia, bridge riff from Roots Remain, the riff under the solo from Tread Lightly, anything from Savage Lands. Also Blooddrunk, Sixpounder, Trashed, Lost, & Strungout by Children of Bodom. All drop c goodness.
Monte Money of ETF, one of the greatest guitarists almost nobody has heard of. Absolutely love the post Ronnie era guitar riffs he made, ETF honestly was better when he was writing those solos.
Agreed. Post Ronnie era until Monte left is my favourite ETF. The Flood was actually the first song of theirs I heard and got me into them. Then the guitar work in songs like This War is Ours, The Aftermath, Gorgeous Nightmare, Onto the Next One, etc had me hooked
@brucewillis6180 they are called fret wraps. You can find them from a company called Gruv Gear 😎 they are great for muting the strings above the nut, because as we play they start to resonate up there. They're great for recording!
I definitely would do that, but I'm happy being a little more ergonomic with the alternate picking haha I still like having my forearms 😅 thank you for watching dude!
Some of my favorites to play (rhythm) in Drop C: My Last Serenade - KSE The Plot To Bomb The Pan Handle - ADTR I'm Made of Wax, Larry, What Are You Made Of? - ADTR Your Way With Words (Is Through Silence) - ADTR Circles - Nonpoint Are You Dead Yet? - Children of Bodom (I WISH I could play the solos - nope) In Your Face! - Children of Bodom Greed - Godsmack Whatever - Godsmack Sick Of Life - Godsmack Faceless - Godsmack Re-Align - Godsmack Most of SOAD's Toxicity album, + Sugar Change (In The House Of Flies) - deftones The Only - Static-X Existence - SiM ...And yeah... Stricken - Disturbed I honestly suck at guitar. I know far more songs in drop C tuning on vocals, because I listen to a lot of bands that play in that tuning.
Haha good choice leaving As I Lay Dying 🤣 The funniest thing is that i drilled Marigold so much it ended up being the easiest riff when I was filming, even though it's technically the hardest one to play haha
Marigold has become my finger warm up for guitar because if you're not warmed up by the time you're done playing it then you're not going to warm up. Lol
tbh i feel like the This war is ours main riff is better but this was still goood, great video also that guitar looks comically small on you, you seem tall (might just be me idk)😭
@HighImpaktAudio It was more a reference to taste and how Americans tend to choose very different bands to showcase from what Europeans do. American metal TH-camrs tend to gravitate towards metalcore, nu Metal and djent specifically, so it's very obvious. Where as a European making a video like this would probably include bands like Children of Bodom, In Flames, At The Gates, and so forth. I didn't mean anything bad by it, though I now realize it might have come off that way.
@HighImpaktAudio It's a natural consequence of geography. Different genres are popular in different places. In the US, it seems like the stereotypical "gateway drug" genre tends to be Nu Metal. In Europe, it tends to be Symphonic/Power Metal that serves that purpose. European bands also tend to use a lot more keys/synths compared to American bands, while American bands tend to be more groove oriented in their riffs than European bands are. These are not universal rules or anything of course, just general trends I've observed.
@TheDarkStigmataVA don't worry I'm happy to add more songs and do some more Drop C riff videos. So if you have some suggestions I'd love to check them out
Alive or just breathing was great! Though I put my curse in here because as daylight dies was the main album I grew up with from them. But I love all of their songs
Never understood the need to use drop tunings. Most of bands dont even use the drop tuning to make new interesting chords. If you cant play power chords fast enough on standard tuning you just need practise and not drop tuning
Awesome video dude, I literally laughed out loud at the AILD joke. Spot on 😂
Haha it was just one of those things that I had to do 🤣 glad you enjoyed my dry ass humor
Digging the ETF shout. That album is still popular because of the guitars.
I grew up as a huge ETF fan i could never leave them out haha 😄
Grear video man.
Threat Signal - A New Beginning, Through My Eyes, etc.
One of my absolute favorite bands, period
I know Jon and Travis! Told Jon I can't wait for this new album! Talent out the ass!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🎸🎤
Ahah, the stretching for playing Marigold is so real, what a finger stretcher of a song
For real! Haha especially with this guitar as a 26.5 scale length 😅
The As I Lay Dying joke was gold!! !!😂
As he was playing the rift I was like man those were the days too bad shit went the way it did. Then bam the joke thought 💀
im seeing more of these "x tuning riffs videos" recentlt and i am so happy lmao. they make me find/rediscover bands i havent heard in a while. great video!
I'm so glad you're enjoying them, my friend! 😄 there's definitely more to come!
That finger stretch was so real 😂 especially after a couple takes... My favorite drop C riff to play is "the song remains un-named by Silent Civilian"
1:06 The Lines - Beartooth
1:27 Stricken - Disturbed
1:49 Becoming The Bull - Atreyu
2:11 Marigold - Periphery
3:02 My Curse - Killswitch Engage
3:18 Nothing Left - As I Lay Dying
4:10 Cutthroat - Blessthefall
4:37 Waking The Demon - Bullet For My Valentine
5:14 My Apocalypse - Escape The Fate
5:36 Hollow Bodies - Blessthefall
6:14 White Washed - August Burns Red
I know thst most of these days are well knowing all this bands discography by ear man cant have enoghj of music
Late 2000s drop C riffs hit so hard!
Had almost all of these on my playlist, definitely liked the video 👍
I always love seeing any of the original ETF stuff. I remember being in the studio and even though it was our first record, we all could just feel that we had something special

@ I just followed you on IG, I’ll talk you there. Have a good rest of your day and thanks again for including “My Apocalypse” in your video. 🤘🏼🤘🏼
@MaxGreen1031 awesome I got you added on Instagram as well. It is always my pleasure dude! And you have a great rest of your day as well 😁
Subbed when I heard Atreyu becoming the bull...youre my era and speed man! lol
The tip of the cap to blessthefall is appreciated. I feel like the first two albums with beau didn’t get enough love. The musicians COOKED
Drop C purist here. Love the entire vid man. OH Also. 4:11. .73 Tortex master race CONFIRMED
Liked and Subbed! Great Job!
I enjoyed your performance in Jurrasic Wirld when you trained the raptors.
you deserve way more views man 100%
Thank you dude!
I could not agree more with this video thank you!
Thank you so much for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed it
The intro to Automaton by Intervals is definitely my favourite drop C riff
My own summer should have made this list IMO
It's a very simple one, but "Lucifer's Rocking Chair" by Cancer Bats is such a headbanger of a riff. Totally underrated.
Marigold is brutal on the wrists isn’t it 😂 Awesome playing ❤
Man you are right there haha I love the Marigold riff so much too which makes it worse when the riff hurts to play 🤣 thank you for enjoying my video dude!
@ Haha yeah, you know you’re in for some fatigue but it’s all worth it! Of course man, awesome stuff 🤘
I'VE HEARD THAT AS I LAY GOT A KILLER SINGER, HE KILLED IT LIVE
He’s never killed anyone. Your joke sucks
@@slayaone1 Yess because they caught him before he does 🤣🤣🤣
@@slayaone1 Maybe he goes to prison for nothing left 🤣
@@slayaone1 He was confined in a cell
@@philfort7886he wasn’t gonna kill anyone, he hired a hit man to kill someone, big difference lol
So far I think the only song I’ve played with in drop C was Monster by skillet but def want to explore now this was great to hear
@PedalPlayhouse oh that's a good one Jo! I might add that one to the list 😄
I will always love drop C or as Steve calls it "Chris Standard" 🤣
The AIILD bit nearly made me spit my water on my monitor lmao
Just now watching, sounded great but the first couple of songs were you struggling with stretching new strings to hold tuning or do an intonation adjustment after those because your later riffs were on point. Great tones and I’m always a killswitch engage and as I lay dying fan. Although if you want some new material to check out some trivium my dude!
5:22 my favorite song of all time bro no one ever talks about it
Killswitch and Bullet for My Valentine have some of my all time Favorite Drop C Tuned songs
he cheated on waking the demon:D
Hey man nice! But where'd u get ur ear rings?
Nothing Left sounds such pretty good. Which plugin do you use?
The Lines is such a fun song to play! Actually every Beartooth song is
I know most part of SOAD songs are in drop D, but must have some. A7X too. Waking the demon and Stricken, just adore these songs.
That periphery riff thought!
I love this!
Billy gibbons mastered the drop d tuning. Imo

I’m just now starting to play more and drop c and I think I’ve been missing out lol.
For metal and rock it's one of my favorite tunings 😄
Homie where did you get your tunnels? They're sick af. Also nice playing!
I got these guys right off of Amazon. Just search for Ear Saddles 😄 and thank you dude!
Hey whats that fabric over the nut of your guitar? Ive been seeing those lately.
@brucewillis6180 they are called fret wraps. You can find them from a company called Gruv Gear 😎 they are great for muting the strings above the nut, because as we play they start to resonate up there. They're great for recording!
Nice list bro! If you watch the guitar world playthrough for waking the demon they downpick the main riff!
I definitely would do that, but I'm happy being a little more ergonomic with the alternate picking haha I still like having my forearms 😅 thank you for watching dude!
I was going to say something about this, but play it the way you can. I beat myself up over not being able to down pick like them and Hetfield
Some of my favorites to play (rhythm) in Drop C:
My Last Serenade - KSE
The Plot To Bomb The Pan Handle - ADTR
I'm Made of Wax, Larry, What Are You Made Of? - ADTR
Your Way With Words (Is Through Silence) - ADTR
Circles - Nonpoint
Are You Dead Yet? - Children of Bodom (I WISH I could play the solos - nope)
In Your Face! - Children of Bodom
Greed - Godsmack
Whatever - Godsmack
Sick Of Life - Godsmack
Faceless - Godsmack
Re-Align - Godsmack
Most of SOAD's Toxicity album, + Sugar
Change (In The House Of Flies) - deftones
The Only - Static-X
Existence - SiM
...And yeah...
Stricken - Disturbed
I honestly suck at guitar. I know far more songs in drop C tuning on vocals, because I listen to a lot of bands that play in that tuning.
Surprised trivium wasn’t in here. But badass list
My favorite drop c songs are:
Monument - ADTR
Hated - Beartooth
Trophy Father's Trophy Son - SWS
That left hand stretch before marigold is 100% necessary everytime, that song is a fucking work out
Riffs from The Color Morale please
So many riffs from our favorites! ❤
Also, I, too, have decided to leave the band with you 😂
Also also, you fuckin slayed that Marigold riff!!
Haha good choice leaving As I Lay Dying 🤣
The funniest thing is that i drilled Marigold so much it ended up being the easiest riff when I was filming, even though it's technically the hardest one to play haha
@HighImpaktAudio proof practice pays off 💪
Next one on drop D pls
It's not the next one but ill make my way to Drop D 😄
can add some 36 crazy fists to that list..
Dude when I first Marigold I dropped everything and had to learn the intro.
Marigold has become my finger warm up for guitar because if you're not warmed up by the time you're done playing it then you're not going to warm up. Lol
I will 100% this list. Eventually 😂
Blessthefall is forever goated
Hell yeah man! Blessthefall will always be one of my favorite bands.
tbh i feel like the This war is ours main riff is better but this was still goood, great video
also that guitar looks comically small on you, you seem tall (might just be me idk)😭
the finger workout before Marigold I feel in my own fingers lmao
Sir you are supposed to downpick Waking The Demon 😂🙂
Forearm fatigue is a bitch! That's why I won't down pick it haha 😅 at least it's the right notes
Why everyone so cares about downpick?) alternate sounds same if you do it right
@@andrewk3915I agree with you. I always try to alternate. Have for years
@@andrewk3915 no it doesn't, not even close, kinda shows how much you play and listen with that statement. 👌👂🎶💯 The root is way heavier sounding
i know marigold is gonna be on the list 😃🤘
I’m here for hardcore and grunge. Metal is coo but darn. Everyone is metal on TH-cam
Nobody cares
🔥
faltou Black Veil Brides tem uns riffs bem legais em Drop C
Missing riff: While she sleeps - This is the six
Maybe best “screamo” drop c riffs
Why Dead to Rights is never on these lists
KSE Rose of Sharyn is No.1 riffs.
marigold sauce got my finger hurt after lol
Bro forgot about
Suffocating under words of sorrow-BFMV
Maybe in part 2 lol
What fkn guitar is that?
*Best drop c riffs for metal heads, lol
Disgusted that mudvayne didn't make the list😂
Johnny bravo slams
Can tell this guy is American based on his song choices.
I never really thought about whether these bands were american based or not lol these are just some bands that I've really enjoyed.

The As I Lay Dying riff sounds awfully inspired by Metallica's Blackened...
No Chimaira...
Come on! A good chunk of this music is from metalcore bands.
It wouldn't hurt to go more outside of that realm.
I said that they are some of my personal favorite riffs lol
@HighImpaktAudio fair point
@TheDarkStigmataVA don't worry I'm happy to add more songs and do some more Drop C riff videos. So if you have some suggestions I'd love to check them out
B standard vid or youre just a hologram
Would be great if the guitar was in tune, for starters... :/
My friend, i do believe you need your ears checked 🤣
Listen to the Stricken clip and then let's revisit this thread.
Stricken wins
Bad technics, where is downstroke? sorry,dude...
replace "My Curse" and just put the whole Alive or just breathing album in there, I'll never get how people can sleep on that.
Alive or just breathing was great! Though I put my curse in here because as daylight dies was the main album I grew up with from them. But I love all of their songs

Any Drop C from Mastodon kicks this list's ass.
