Step 1. Wash your kit in hot soapy water. Rinse well and allow to dry. Step 2. Use matte sealer to place a primer layer on kit to allow paint to stick to kit. Step 3. PAINT. 1 part paint, 1 part sealer, 2 parts water. part (paint, sealer)--1 brushtip full. part (water)--2 tbsps full.
Thank you for this I use everything liquitex, but no matter what I did the colors did not stick on. I have the universal primer Gesso and it was not cheap at all, so I can start right away, well after I walk my doggie. Thanks a lot.
I read a lesson on line that was very helpful on the different types of paints and matte. if you use a paint with gloss or matte texture you will get shine. if you use matte medium paint you get a non reflective finish.Mediums are basically all the same except there is gloss,satin and matte.Gloss medium enhances the sheen ,matte finish is non reflective but if the two are combined you get a semi gloss finish. I made the mistake of painting my doll and she turned out shiny even after the varnish.which is also made with gloss ,satin ,or matte.I made a list for myself to buy plain acrylic paint, matte medium,satin finish varnish.Or as the teacher suggested a removable varnish that is compatable with all acrylics. lesson learned!
When painting, paint VERY THIN,TRANSPARENT layers. Pounce with sponge. Paint all parts and allow to dry 45 min. Apply 2nd coat and allow to dry overnight. Continue painting until desired tone is reached. Complete creasework and nails.

How awesome, just today when looking for a medium I came across the smooth touch and the Americana matte. I am going to be begining on my very first ever reborn kit , and plan to use acrylics vs the GHSP. The sculpt I'll be using is an open eyed "Sweet cheeks" 18" sculpt. I'm a lil nervous but excited at the same time lol. Do you use a specific prep primer before painting, if so can you make a recommendation for that please. Thank you

I bought a doll that had too much of red lips , she was faired skin. I pealed the paint off her lips and now they're peach. They look like coolaide lips. How can I fix my reborn lips to look real ? Nothing takes the peach away

Yes you can. I use Folk Art and Americana paint. Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Joann Fabrics, and most craft stores carry this.

I almost did kartwheels when I found out I could paint babies and not have to cook them !
I'm about to reborn my very first baby and I'm using acrylic too one question do I have to use that kind of water ?? Not normal water ?
Do not use tap water because of the minerals and other additives that are in the water. Distilled water is best.
