I saw that episode and it always bothered me because that would mean that he succeeded in failing. A man whose luck is so good that the closest he can come to failure is a paradox.

This is actually a reference to the original source of the Addams Family - the comic by Charles Addams that ran in The New Yorker. One comic showed Pugsleys room to be decorated in warning signs. "Bridge out", "Danger Ahead" and so on.
On Gomez and Morticia's relationship, it's great because of how it contrasts to other TV shows/soap operas. The Addams Family of course is presented as this super weird group of awkward shut-ins who are abnormal to society at large, in contrast to other shows which tend to depict a more idyllic view of family life - but in those shows, the "idyllic family" is always dealing with internal tension and drama between each other and generally falling apart, while the "weird shut-ins" are by far the most functional actual family on TV, which is an interesting contrast.
From how I gathered him complaining in The New Addams Family show back in 90s , he has so much capital that he invests in things he is convinced will fail just to burn the money. But this always backfires on him and his investment reverses in its own luck and makes him an even bigger fortune.

its an look he and his family keeps really. the house should it be upscaled would be worth 10 million+ as it is a Victorian style house in eastern america probably. its age and condition and base molding make it really unique.
They do have a butler named Igor. But they like the creepy look, so why would they bother to clean it? Maybe just the mud or something. They have cobwebs, and I think they added more of them or something in an episode.

In one of his failure attempts he identifies a company that is completely failing, so Gomez invests millions of dollars into the company so he can lose all that money and be a failure. It turned out that with the new influx of finances the company was able to turn itself around, and become successful. Gomez's investment of millions returned billions to him, and he was frustrated over his failure to fail.
I watched the series last year, and remember the swamp episode. His neighbour was certain that there was oil under the swamp, the swamp Gomez had bought for the view. At the end of the episode, he finally agrees to sell the swamp to the neighbour and mentions to Morticia that the neighbour must have good taste in views since he can't develop it, and his company already looked for oil under the swamp and there wasn't any.
Gomez giving away money is no joke. There was once an episode in the 60's Addams Family show where a bunch of burglars show up, and Gomez, who of course took a liking to them almost instantly, just handed them tens of thousands of dollars in cash just like that. He gives wads of cash containing thousands like a stick of gum. You could make the absolute worst sock puppet which could look utterly hideous, and tell Gomez that it costs a million dollars and he would say, "By George, that's really generous of you. Tell ya what, sonny. I'll give it to you for five million." What a guy.

The fuzzywuzzy doesn't have a "so" in it, that's the tongue twister part init. In one episode you find he owns at least one of the homes next door to there mansion. Wonder if he owns his neighborhood. That same episode, the newlywed couple want to leave and give a company reason he has to move, and Gomez buys the guys company so he doesn't have to move (which was a lie so he could move). Great show!

IIRC the IRL wealth list doesn't include people with noble titles whose wealth is tied up in the ancestral properties. So the Marvel kings and emperors wouldn't count. Same reason why the noble families of Europe aren't on the list despite being incredibly wealthy.

Really, the Addams family is the perfect family. Husband and wife are passionate about each other. They have common interests as well as their own hobbies with no expectations from each other on fulfilling a role. They're proud of their kids and even when they get worried about their doing something "weird" (normal), they still support them. Their servant is as much a part of the family as anyone, and in the 60s show was the only one who really ever got negative (maybe Grandmama). Probably because he's been out in the real world while the rest of them haven't and knows that the various ideas the family comes up with will not be well met from normies so he'll groan, roll his eyes, and shake his head. They're excited to welcome you into their lives, and if you become friends with them, they'll be fiercely protective of you. The only family that is like that are the Belchers from Bob's Burgers. Bob and Linda love each other. No matter what their kids get into, he tries to support them. And even when initially befuddled when he's out of his comfort zone, Bob (and the family) make friends with everyone, and Bob is low-key happy to see people again whether it's a transvestite prostitute, members of a motorcycle gang, or a bank robber that held him hostage and interested in how they're doing. I'd like to see an Addams Family/Bob's Burgers crossover.

As a side note that crocodile farm could make him some serious money. The United States in particular has a market for Alligator leathers and even caught as a product to consume from its very flesh. I kid you not you can even order some of that canned Cajun flavor for yourself or even your pets through Amazon in the United States. I adored a Cartoon Network version of this show from a while back. There was an episode where Gomez Addam's goal is to actually fail at something. He does a million stupid investment ideas that all accidentally work out, like a chocolate-based fad diet that -should- fail, but it makes people sick (because Uncle Fester made the recipe) so they lose weight fast, and people love it. Everything he does, no matter how foolish, is a roaring success. The end of the episode is that he feels accomplished after Morticia points out that he actually -did- fail... at failing.

Scrooge has a vault with an insane amount of gold in, Smaug has an ocean. I think someone worked out that Smaug's hoard would be worth 676 trillion USD in the films (compared to Forbes' estimation of 51 billion from the books).
As with many other things in those films, they went a bit too far.

I remember one episode (I think it was the cartoon version) in which Gomez is reflecting on everything he'd accomplished in his life, and was trying to figure out what new thing he could do next, but couldn't think of anything that he hadn't already done. Fester points out that Gomez has never failed at anything, so Gomez sets out to fail. In one of his failure attempts he identifies a company that is completely failing, so Gomez invests millions of dollars into the company so he can lose all that money and be a failure. It turned out that with the new influx of finances the company was able to turn itself around, and become successful. Gomez's investment of millions returned billions to him, and he was frustrated over his failure to fail.
In the show he also plays the stock market and will forget what he’s invested in and will be surprised reading it off the little machine.
Karl looked like Dewey from Malcolm in the Middle when he was a kid.
I watched the series last year, and remember the swamp episode. His neighbour was certain that there was oil under the swamp, the swamp Gomez had bought for the view. At the end of the episode, he finally agrees to sell the swamp to the neighbour and mentions to Morticia that the neighbour must have good taste in views since he can't develop it, and his company already looked for oil under the swamp and there wasn't any.
Gomez giving away money is no joke. There was once an episode in the 60's Addams Family show where a bunch of burglars show up, and Gomez, who of course took a liking to them almost instantly, just handed them tens of thousands of dollars in cash just like that. He gives wads of cash containing thousands like a stick of gum. You could make the absolute worst sock puppet which could look utterly hideous, and tell Gomez that it costs a million dollars and he would say, "By George, that's really generous of you. Tell ya what, sonny. I'll give it to you for five million." What a guy.

In one episode you find he owns at least one of the homes next door to there mansion. Wonder if he owns his neighborhood. That same episode, the newlywed couple want to leave and give a company reason he has to move, and Gomez buys the guys company so he doesn't have to move (which was a lie so he could move).

Really, the Addams family is the perfect family. Husband and wife are passionate about each other. They have common interests as well as their own hobbies with no expectations from each other on fulfilling a role. They're proud of their kids and even when they get worried about their doing something "weird" (normal), they still support them. Their servant is as much a part of the family as anyone, and in the 60s show was the only one who really ever got negative (maybe Grandmama). Probably because he's been out in the real world while the rest of them haven't and knows that the various ideas the family comes up with will not be well met from normies so he'll groan, roll his eyes, and shake his head. They're excited to welcome you into their lives, and if you become friends with them, they'll be fiercely protective of you. The only family that is like that are the Belchers from Bob's Burgers. Bob and Linda love each other. No matter what their kids get into, he tries to support them. And even when initially befuddled when he's out of his comfort zone, Bob (and the family) make friends with everyone, and Bob is low-key happy to see people again whether it's a transvestite prostitute, members of a motorcycle gang, or a bank robber that held him hostage and interested in how they're doing. I'd like to see an Addams Family/Bob's Burgers crossover.

I adored a Cartoon Network version of this show from a while back. There was an episode where Gomez Addam's goal is to actually fail at something. He does a million stupid investment ideas that all accidentally work out, like a chocolate-based fad diet that -should- fail, but it makes people sick (because Uncle Fester made the recipe) so they lose weight fast, and people love it. Everything he does, no matter how foolish, is a roaring success. The end of the episode is that he feels accomplished after Morticia points out that he actually -did- fail... at failing.
