Some of the best clips from the smart, sexy, downright scary Empress of the Goths, Morticia Addams! Clips are from the 1965-1965 TV series "The Addams Family" where Morticia is played by Carolyn Jones as well as the 1991 film "The Addams Family" and the 1993 film "Addams Family Values" where Morticia is played by Anjelica Huston.
There were quite a few great scenes that had to be cut for copyright reasons. Sorry if your favorite Morticia quip didn't make it into the final version.

I love how everyone in their family treat each other the same, and don’t think of themselves higher then the others. Even Pugsley and Wednesday are treated and respected like adults.
The children are respected like children. Contrary to popular belief, your not supposed to treat the kiddos as if your authority was absolute.
More like they respect the kids autonomy and let them learn and grow, but they still act like parents taking on the hard stuff that's too much for kids.

At the time, pastels were starting to become tacky and overdone. Combined with it ruining the mansion's aesthetic, it was completely unforgivable compared to the whole sexual enslavement/family destroying thing.

Fun but heartbreaking fact: Anjelica Huston ended up falling in love with Raul Julia during filming of the Addams family movies, but never got the chance to tell him. She was absolutely devastated when he lost his battle with cancer, and she refused to do another movie without Raul.

I know everyone in the comments is arguing about which Morticia was better but I think as Addams Family fans as Morticia fans, we can all come together and praise both of these amazing women for bringing to life such an amazing character. they had different interpretations but both are lovely and dark in their own rights and allow us to have Morticia continue to live on through another medium besides the original comic that she came from. beautiful work from wonderful actresses about an amazing character.

I love how the whole joke about the Addams family is that they are meant to be the Polar opposite of a regular suburban/wealthy family with old money.
They all genuinely care for and respect one another, the mother and father aren’t always fighting and are in fact still in love, the daughter isn’t all cheery and boy crazy and the son isn’t sport obsessed or anything like that. I'm a little late to the party here, but I think another one of Morticia's best moments is at the party for Fester when talking to the Amore twins (Flora and Fauna) who have always had a major crush on Gomez, instead of being like most film characters who flaunt about it or want others to be jealous, Morticia instead flatters and reassures them, saying "How can I compete? You're twice the woman I am."

When I was a child I was disappointed in the choice to cast the much less classically beautiful (when compared to Carolyn Jones) Angelica Huston in the film. But now as an adult I've changed my opinion. Angelica Huston's unconventional look was a perfect casting choice for the role.
If you merged the Carolyn Jones Morticia with the Angelica Huston Morticia you would have the Charles Addams Morticia. So I downloaded an Android app and merged the two faces, lol.

Raul Julia did a great Gomez Addams. I find him a better choice then Anglica Huston, however, the ton of makeup fixed her appearance partly but is still miles off Carolyn Jones.

All the more impressive when you consider it was a horrible experience for her. The costume was uncomfortable and she had a light constantly aimed at her eyes to have that unearthly effect you see in the film. Apparently it was so bad that the end of filming she burned the costume. What a trooper.

JGW 54 They did do The Addams Family Reunion, which went straight to VHS. It was OK, but not as good as the first 2. Tim Curry & Darryl Hannah played Gomez & Morticia.
Personally, I think that maybe John Astin should have returned opposite Geraldine Chaplin.

Carolyn and Anjelica are both amazing as Morticia, I really can't pick my favorite. One of those rare instances of a new cast being as good as the old.
Whilst I love the original show, and the portrayal of Gomez and Morticia, the movies were what I remember seeing first. Angelina's Morticia seems. . . _otherworldly_ almost. With an ethereal grace and poise, the way she speaks and gestures. Raul's Gomez is passionate and perfectly eccentric, dashing and charming. They could not have cast them better for these movies.
But my favourite thing is how these two are ACTUALLY couple goals. No matter the actors, there is always this sense of mutual love and respect between them. He worships the very ground she walks on and she adores him with every inch of her soul. There's no question that they're partners. They both give their all to the relationship whilst never neglecting their family, and it's honestly the perfect model for their kids. I think we could all do with striving for a partner that we can have that relationship with.

Although I love Carolyn, and is my particular favorite, Angelica was Morticia. She was what the character was supposed to be. Yes, I love Carolyn's version just because she is my favorite thing, but she was not what she was supposed to be. Carolyn wasn't what she was supposed to be, but she made it her own. Both amazing women.
