Just changed mine on a 2011 Enclave and it was bit tricky. I didn’t take off the oil filter or alternator. Picked up the Oil sensor socket from auto zone for $12, used a 1/2 inch socket wrench, small extension, and a universal angle joint. If your mechanically inclined it’s possible without removing the oil filter. Otherwise I recommend taking it off and saving yourself from struggling. Good luck! Thanks for the video!
This comment was everything. Thank you so much I got it. Was also able to get it without removing anything! Was tough took me a hour and a busted knuckle 😅
Bob Flannagan yeah no problem, a whole kit of those o2 sensor/oil sensor sockets there for like $40 and I'm glad I bought the kit so I didn't have to play the guessing game with what socket to work. Good luck on your repair
What if the sensor does not want to come off. I've been soaking that bad boy with ( FREE ALL )deep penetrating oil. I hope it helps. Future videos should include what if it is real stuck.
Thanks for the vid. I just did my 2008 today. I was able to do mine without removing the oil filter (recently changed). It would make it easier to get to the sensor though with the filter removed. I will say that on mine it had a difficult clip on the wires that had to be removed. Wish me luck. The only other thing it could be is the oil pump (yikes)
Thank you! Hope everything gets solved for you with this video. It's been 11 months since I replaced the Oil Pressure sensor and haven't had a single episode like that again so all is going well for me and the replacement I did.
This is too weird I just started my Enclave heading down the road and oil pressure light display was flashing shut engine down I hope it's the sensor? Is it a common sensor to go out?
I don't want to say it's common... But, it's likely, I've noticed in more modern vehicles typically have electronic failures over mechanical (not saying that mechanical issues never happen). So like I'm my video I say "it's cheaper to replace the sensor than the oil pump itself" it's also fastest and way easier to start with that, you'll need to do an oil change at The same time, so I would replace that 1st. And see what happens. But as for me it's been over a year since I replaced my sensor and not once has it happened again
Hey listen I have a question do you fix the problem changing that sensor I have the same problem on mine and thank you for the video if you can let me know how to fix it I have the same problem.
Did your car over heat also before it told you low oil pressure? Because I can drive my car and soon as I'm stuck in traffic or a drive threw car will start to overheat then tell me I have low oil pressure
@@brettbeez yes checked oil and coolant both full. It only does it when I'm in drive or nautral but sitting still.. but soon as you start to drive temp drops back down to 210. Also when you are in park stays at 210 but once your in drive or natural then boom temp starts to rise..then low oil pressure light comes on.
😢 iam called harold iam screwed all garages are booked in advance 3 or more weeks. Soo I have no other choice but to do this oil pressure sensor bad boy !!! GOD HELP ME PLEASE.
I don't see why you couldn't just remove the filter and replace the sensor, I just happened to need an oil change so I did them both at the same time, but I'm not 100% sure how much more oil would be lost since the filter is located in the side of the motor above the pan. For me I would just do both. But if you can do it that way more power to you!
Dude..I came here because I have a mechanic that's telling me its like..a 16 hour job...ridiculous..2014 buick enclave..now I gotta find someone who had a clue. He was saying oh u have to take so much of the car apart
@@kerrywhitemd it's all simple. Draining the oil and just change it. There's a plug in the oil pan in the bottom. Undo that to drain your oil make sure you have a pan to catch the oil once oil is all drained reinstall the drain plug, then remove the filter and then remove the the sensor. Replace that then install the new filter and add oil. And youre done
@@brettbeez You don't need to drain the oil to replace the sending unit. You don't even need to remove the oil filter to get to it (although it probably helps provide a little extra space). Removing the sending unit while the engine is full of oil is not a problem, all the oil is down in the oil pan. I only saw maybe 2 ounces or less of spill when I removed it. I did not remove the oil filter. Your video was great!
Ok so I tried replacing it and bought the correct socket and for some reason whenever I went to tighten the new sensor into place the black plastic part where the connector is kept breaking off.... This happen to anyone else??
@@satnav444 no you don't. My alternator is still on in this video I didn't have to do anything but drain the oil and remove the oil filter, there is NOTHING else that needs removal to access and remove the Oil Pressure Sensor.
I just confirmed the socket won't fit. There must be some engines with more room between the switch and the alternator. Three repair shops have quoted the job in the $500 range, with removal of the alternator as part of the task. Be careful guys, and hope you are a lucky one.
@@satnav444 which vehicle do you have? Do you have the right socket for the job? Are you disconnecting the wire from the sensor before removal? Can you post a video of your vehicle for comparison if it's true that the alternator is in the way?
