    What’s always impressed me about this movie (amongst the leagues of other reasons) was how nuanced the idiots were in their intelligence. They’re all still dumb but relatively they differ. The doctor was confident and didn’t slur his words, the cops were just repeating lines, the citizens were the typical slow-talking idiots, and as shown in this scene, the politicians were the most articulate and could somewhat keep up (albeit landing on the wrong conclusion). It’s just a brilliant detail that really makes me appreciate this film.

    • @natekek9922
      @natekek9922 6 ปีที่แล้ว +216

      Yea that’s what’s makes this movie so entertaining imo. Another little nuance is the design of the clothing and architecture. The architecture looks inept, while the artistic designs on shirts look like they were made by some amateur artist.

Every single one of them is compromised. The only way to prevent people from becoming stupider and more easily controlled is to teach/practice independent critical thinking above all else. Daniel Daniel intelligent ppl can also be fearful. A doctor went to school and studied very hard because he/she is fearful of not being a doctor. A person may want kids, but it has to be circumstantial. “If this happens...then I’ll have kids”. But if your circumstances change, then life has to be altered. The truth is anybody can have 5 lousily raised kids, and anybody can decline to have children. The optimal is to have a couple of kids raised correctly with the appropriate partner. That’s hard.

      A shitton of logical fallacies just happened. The burden of proof is on the one making the claim and instead of trying to experiment via scientific method for empirical evidence, we get the shitshow of people not knowing, not wanting to know, and then pretending to know better all along. Bare assertion fallacy, Circular reasoning, Strawman Fallacy, Argument from Ignorance because the requirement for negative evidence was taken too far. Negative evidence is tricky to use correctly, the idea of "Water makes plants grow" is indeed flawed when taken literally, but saying "water helps plants grow" is better, though still flawed in terms of too much water will kill the plant. Sadly the lie he could talk to plants is simplier to understand than "water doesn't have the same stuff as Brawndo, Brawndo contains stuff harmful to plants, if we use water or a watered down version of Brawndo without the stuff stopping the plants growing.... yes, you can keep the rest of it which plants crave (the water), then plants can grow"

I agree that all looting, rioting and threatening makes people feel uncomfortable and can definitely scare off those honorable public servants dedicated to keeping the peace for all Americans. Your idea about militia isn't a new or bad one, it's just the words 'militia' and 'defund' that carry extra weight given their history. Like with the crops from 500 years in the future (😂), Brawndo only became more and more powerful, even though it was clearly not working. 'Killology' is a training many police go through across the country, which more or less puts them in a sort of Call of Duty: Team Deathmatch mentality, them vs. the people in the streets. Defund police is more about taking some of the VAST funding for Police each year (like 50% of city budgets) and trying to "grow" better opportunities and options for citizens to reduce the likelihood of crimes overall. We do need Police, good Police to handle the really tough and dangerous situations, but we can also take some of the millions of 911 calls off their overflowing plates. Whatever gets the crops to grow (it may be using 'toilet water'), whatever stops the killing of Americans, I am for.

    This movie was a head of its time predicting the future that may now happen given what we have all seen in the last 6 or so years!

      We already got "Monster Energy" that I want to see every human disregard and toss in a pit of lava, I'm not sure we're far off...

      @@101Volts Funny thing about Monster : I used to know a recovering alcoholic who drank that instead of wine. That made me think it might have some value as a medication for desperate people. Then I asked to taste it and I couldn't : just the smell was repulsive... and this comes from a guy who has no problem drinking fish liver oil.

      I was just about to say the same thing. Also, this is not becoming reality. Worldwide, humanity is smarter all around and far more capable than in the past. It may look bleak (esp in the USA) but it is not only better, but also GETTING better as time moves forward.
