  • Quite possibly the best opening scene in a movie that becomes more surreal with every passing year. Idiocracy was ahead of its time and the opening scene-NO, the whole movie still hold ups. This is why I think Idiocracy the movie has the best opening scene.
    What is Idiocracy?
Idiocracy is a 2006 American science fiction comedy film directed by Mike Judge and co-written by Judge and Etan Cohen. The plot follows U.S. Army librarian Joe Bauers, who wakes up five hundred years in the future after a botched government hibernation experiment to find himself in a dystopian society run by corporations, where evolution has made humanity stupid because the benefits of technology made it unnecessary for people to be intelligent and physically fit to survive. The cast includes Luke Wilson, Maya Rudolph, Dax Shepard, Terry Crews, David Herman, Justin Long, Andrew Wilson, and Brad Jordan.

Mike Judge said it in an interview in 2017 “I thought I was making a comedy and not a documentary” Yep… big sigh

This is so prophetic! I was in Los Angeles in 2020, pre-CoV and heard the radio station playing many egg-freezing advertisements for women with talk about available financing.

I remember that dude from a scene in Mulholland Drive and I always thought he was some kind of genius in acting. "There's a man in back of this place. He's the one who's doing it. I can see him through the wall. I can see his face. I hope that I never see that face, ever, outside of a dream"

I see this movie and look at the younger generations wondering how long until it becomes a prophecy or documentary

What i find funny about the people that loves this movie, is that they always assume they are the “smart ones” and not the idiot ones. Nowadays no one wants to have kids, both smart and stupid people are using the same arguments against it

We could use a president like Camacho, that man actually cared about the country's problems and empowered the most capable men available to solve them.

Mmm, no. I know of an incompetent cat burglar who has spent most of his life in prison, and has fathered over 40 children in his brief periods out of prison. The future will be begat by his ilk. Criminals reproduce at a rate more than a dozen times higher than law abiding folk, a statistic that has been concealed even by this documentary.

It isnt smart vs dumb in real life though. Its people who chose not to have kids or never made that mistake when they very young that can have an amazing career and make a lot of money. That is the trend. Smart people can make mistakes to. Dumb people can succeed.
