    When we go to Hawaii we always like to go to Oahu for 3-4 days to walk around Honolulu and do the island and than hop over to the Big Island for a great 2-3 weeks of nature, peace and quiet, the farmers markets, the energy and ofcourse Pele. Like Oahu but just LOVE the Big Island ❤️😍

    There is something magical about Helemua, the land where The Royal Hawaiian sits on Waikiki. It was literally the home of the king. The big island does have amazing beautiful beaches as well north of the Kohala cost. Snorkeling at two-steps south of Kona is also amazing. However, Oahu has my vote over Hawaii about 100 times. Aloha!

      Yes I do understand were you are coming from, and yes Oahu does some beautiful beaches

    Keep it up!
    Having been to the 4 major Islands, I enjoy your "take" on Island life.
    Wife and I will be in Kona and Waikiki next month, so timing is serendipitous.
    Side Note: Julie, you got me pumped on Lava Lava Beach Club and my wife just informed me it's closed for renovations until October!😳
    I know it's not your fault.
    Thanks for what you do.🤙🏝

      I know! Im sorry about Lava Lava! When it's done, it should be really cool! Have fun on your vacation on both islands! Go to Bar Podmore in Honolulu..you will thank me later!

    Informative video, I have been to both Islands and agree with everything you say. I have poor vision so I used Uber on my vacation to the Big Island last March. I stayed at 3 different locations... The King Kam in Kona, the Marriott Waikoloa, and the Fairmont Orchid. The Ubers arriving at all 3 locations were never more than a 10-15 minute wait and the drivers were excellent.
    As for hotels, I booked them last March for my upcoming trip in 2023 and the prices are ridiculous now. The cheapest room at the Marriott Waikoloa goes for $1150/night for next February.....I had oceanfront last year for much less.
    I prefer hotels over Airbnb/Vrbo because the cancellation policies are better at hotels...usually 24-72 hours for a full refund, but for my upcoming trip I did add a few nights at a Vrbo rental at Waikoloa beach resort.
    I asked my Uber driver why the bars/restaurants in Kona close so early, He said "the tourist bars close early but the bars the locals go to close at 2, but we like to keep those a secret". lol

      The cost of everything keeps going up..and finding staff to make it all happen for the visitors is hard!

    Excellent video, price wise I would assume Oahu is twice as expensive but also twice the job opportunities.

    • @365Hawaii
      @365Hawaii  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually no, it's not! Because they have MORE ..more people, more homes, more jobs..its not as bad as Kona, in particular. Both islands are sitting at about a 1.3 million dollar median price range to buy..but renters can only pay so much..food costs are not much different either.

    • @redfirekla
      @redfirekla 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@365Hawaii I guess Kona is pretty expensive then, I didn't realize it was that expensive

    • @365Hawaii
      @365Hawaii  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@redfirekla It WAS the most affordable island, then everyone who got priced out of the other islands, bought homes here! Especially in Kona...prices went 25% higher in a very short time.

      @@365Hawaii that sux, the work at home situation is probably going to make it worse, especially from Californian residents moving to the big Island

    What a excellent video! I have not been to Oahu. I am not into crowds, traffic, night life ( I drink my wine at home ) or shopping so this is not the Island for me. I would not mind a one day trip just to see the Arizona though.

    • @365Hawaii
      @365Hawaii  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When we went the first time, we went to Pearl Harbor for the history, we also drove by Waikiki to say we did it, went down to some of the beaches and got an amazing view of Lanikai..which is STUNNING!! Go for THAT if nothing else, along with seeing the Arizona.

    Love the channel, i always smash the like button...you folks are the reason I went to Kona...but the Big Island needs more entertainment...the Island is beautiful but could use more restaurants, clubs and other amenities you'd expect from a popular island destination...not being negative just real..

    • @365Hawaii
      @365Hawaii  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aloha Bob! The Ying and Yang of that issue comes with housing. We just don't have enough homes (and affordability plays a huge role) in having enough people able to staff restaurants, clubs and the like on Big Island. Some people love that..because it keeps us sleepy and chill and not overly developed, but it does play a role in people choosing the "excitement" of Honolulu for vacation if that is important to you. I just hop on a plane..;-)

    Eric what considered as freezing Temps on the big island. Some say 73° is considered cold.

    • @365Hawaii
      @365Hawaii  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      73 IS chilly in Hawaii!! But you can go up to Mauna Kea and it can be 36 degrees and lower when it gets snow!

    When you’re talking why don’t you say which island you’re on? You keep saying “here” , well where here ? Which island are you referring to ?

  • @roberthampson8434
    @roberthampson8434 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I disagree with Eric's statement that Oahu beaches are better. One of the main things I love about the big island is that the beaches are not big long boring stretches of sand. I love the interesting coast line when I am in and out of the water. My favorite beaches are mostly lava with a few sandy patches that allow you to get in the water.

    • @elitestar

    I love your videos; they’ll definitely help to plan our trip to the Big Island in two weeks. We love the outdoors, I’m a runner and hiker and I can’t wait to get there. I will be running the Kona half marathon and hopefully hike Mauna Kea if the weather cooperates. I just noticed Hualalai volcano is close by but can’t find good videos about it.
    Thanks so much!
