Last month(March 2024) I went to Oahu & it has always been my lifelong dream to go for a vacation!!! I made my dream a reality 💯❤️✈️🌎🍍📸⛱️🚁🇺🇸🌈🐢🌴 My Grandfather was in the Navy & in Pearl Harbor. He survived & I've always wanted to pay my respects 🇺🇸. I knew I would get emotional & it started on the boat ride over to the USS Arizona Memorial. My Grandfather was a Radio communicator on submarines & his ship was the Dobin. I'm truly thankful to God that He blessed me this wonderful opportunity to go to Hawaii. What an amazing, fun,&awesome dream vacation I had !!!!🌺🌺🌺🌺
I agree. It's an incredibly moving experience. My first visit I was able to meet a survivor. Here's his story: th-cam.com/video/pq6ZIhrnsdw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dBhJcKE3OYGzpYW_
THE BEST introductory video I've ever seen. I've seen a few, and with this one I went from unclear on what to do to very certain of exactly what I want to do and see and how long I should spend on my first trip. Great use of maps and 3D views as well as practical info on driving etc. Many thanks.
Thanks very much. I wanted to produce something I’d find useful myself, hoping it would be helpful to others, too. So glad you found it useful. Too few travel videos give the broad overview needed to plan a trip. You’re going to have a great time.
This is absolutely the BEST video guide for Oahu! I am going to Honolulu in March 2025 for the first time and this video is exactly what I need! Many thanks for making this AWESOME video. 🙏🙏🙏😄😄😄
I'm so glad it's helpful. Thanks for letting me know. You're going to have the best time. Hawaii is everything you hope it will be and more. Let me know how your trip goes.
I started doing my Hawaii research way back in 2017 long before I went & having my itinerary completed before I left was work, but I'm glad it was all done beforehand.
Thanks very much! I wanted to produce something helpful. Simple geography and some basic information with a bit of personal insight, leaving slow motion walks on the beach and detailed meal descriptions to young, beautiful people. You made my night. Very kind.
Just returned from my 9th and my wife’s 10th trip to Hawaii. We have been to the Big Island, Maui and Kauai, but we love Oahu. You can do anything there! You can get right in the middle of everything or get away from everything. As great as this video is, it just scratches the surface. We have our favorite things we always like to do, but still always find more things to try. Aloha!🌋🗿🏖️🏄🏻🏄♂️⛩️
Wow! I absolutely love this video, everything you need to know in a concise and pleasurable easy to watch video, I live in the UK and can't wait to this this beautiful Island, thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much. I’m so glad you find the video helpful. I’ve been there several times and continue to make discoveries. Almost anywhere you stop, you’ll find something beautiful or fascinating. I hope you have a wonderful trip. Feel free to ask me anything along the way.
Great video. There is so much to do in Oahu that it is incredible. Really, what you outlined would better to take a month. Thanks for this as we were there in May and it was eye opening.
I was stationed there and loved living there. This was a very good Vlog to show people why HI is loved soo much. I try to fo back every year. If you respect the island and the locals that same respect will come back to you. The locals will tell you the best places to eat that arent big box chains.
Born & raised on Oahu Terry and I just want to say that you totally have the right attitude. I’ve seen many letters to the editor from military folks who were stationed here and didn’t like it. To a man, they came with an ‘ugly American’ attitude. Naturally, the locals didn’t respect them. But if you come with an attitude like yours of respecting the local people and culture, and taking a part in it, everyone treats you with aloha. Even if you just got off the boat. Mahalo for YOUR aloha towards us & our culture! People like you will always be welcome. 🤙🤙🤙✌️
Nice video. I recently went to oahu and stayed for 2 nights.went skydiving and took a 3 hour e-bike tour at kualoa ranch.. Its so beautiful. I'll have to come again and stay like a week to actually explore more of these spots 👍🏝️⛰️
I think that’s what makes it such a great destination. Even if you’re just there a day or two, there’s so much you can easily do. And if you have a longer stay, there’s so much more to explore. Glad you had a great time.
Video was really beautifully put together. Started to wonder is this was Mike Rowe’s brother. Very well done. I will be making my first trip there the 1st of Feb 2025. I hope to see the huge waves crashing on the rocks. ❤
Your video was excellent. You do such an outstanding job commentating. Can't wait to visit Oahu and to watch some of your other videos. Thanks for all of the great information. We will be using it on our trip in January, 2024. Mahalo
Very interesting and good video, we are coming from the UK in August. We like walking and hiking and are pretty fit, we go on 8 mile hikes in the big hills near us, where would you recommend not to busy to hike up, but not a place with brush to get through etc, can be done in sneakers, as we are not bringing the boots.
Thanks very much! Outside of Honolulu traffic is no issue. In the city, it just stop light traffic. Nothing heavy and moves along well. During typical rush hours, the small portion of interstate north of the city gets a bit slow and crowded. Just avoid driving on the interstate during those times. The only negative to having a car in the city is the high cost of nightly parking. You can find metered or free spots around the zoo and parks, but as anywhere, you have to hunt for spaces. You'll have a great time regardless. Enjoy.
I’m from Hawaii and you covered many places for visitors. One recommendation is to pronounce the places correctly please. Iolani palace for instance is a short I sounds for both i’s, etc. Hanauma Bat and many more we’re also incorrect. Makapu’u beach was perfectly pronounced. Just a recommendation if you do another one. It’s important for the culture and people of Hawaii. Aloha and Mahalo
Thanks for the comment. I usually put an mispronunciation apology at the end. I listen to countless videos, search on pronunciation sites and rarely find a trustable consensus that I feel comfortable with. I cut and recut the audio, so chances are I had most right at some point and didn't realize it. Hanauma is one I changed at the last minute, feeling uncomfortable with earlier versions. I think the more I try say them correctly, the worse I get. It's funny you mention Makapu'u. I struggled with it. Thanks for letting me know at least I found my way to it in the end. I grew up near New Orleans where few visitors come close to getting names right, largely because we have pronounced them wrong ourselves for generations. I love your language. I wish I spoke it better, too. My southern drawl makes vowels difficult on good days.
I agree. It'd be helpful to hear them, but they change so frequently that the video would be dated soon after posting. Fortunately, much of Oahu is free to experience. And places mentioned that require admission are best googled for accurate pricing. Thanks for watching.
Depends on what you like. Oahu has so much to do, both in Honolulu and all over the island. Between Pearl Harbor, Waikiki Beach and the North Shore, there’s lots to see and easily do with a car. If big cities aren’t your thing, Kauai is rural, east to drive, with lots to do. I’ve got a Kauai video, too. Wherever you go, you’ll have a great time.
If you do come here have respect for the land, animals and people. Many if the people who live here feel we are losing our island home because of politicians and developers who wana make money. Many areas were once quiet and peaceful now attract too many people that have no reapect. So have reapect for the island and have a nice vacation.
Jim, the OP is butchering practically all.of the Hawaiian words mentioned. He could have taken 30 minutes to try and pronounce tbe words properly but likely he just wanted go put out this video right away. Happy though that this video is almost at 100k views🤙!
Apologies. But it was in no way rushed. I listened to countless pronunciation videos and pronunciation sites. At a point, the inconsistent pronunciations only served to confuse. I could have produced it just using location graphics without mentioning one Hawaiian word. I live in an area of the US where the names are almost impossible to pronounce correctly, or as locals would pronounce them. Those things are not always the same in my area. I’ve never been offended by anyone who attempted to speak as we do, or simply wished to say where they are or what they’d like to see. I appreciate your comment, but the assumption that it was rushed, or that I didn’t care how I pronounce things is as wrong as the words i mispronounced. In my case it’s not lack of concern, but incompetence.
Our government is still hurting the people that live here and love this place. Still stealing the land from the kanaka. They cannot and we should not allow development there. Developers see money. Thats all. They don't care about our beautiful untouched... sacred places. Don't allow it. Don't bother the turtles. Leave that land alone. Leave the people alone. Ka nani a'o Ka'u

Great video, well done! I was unsure of how to plan the itinerary of my upcoming vacation, and this trip around the island was very helpful.

You see so many videos of the island on youtube and then you see this, some things should be left to the professionals!! Well done!!
