You my friend have the best Boat Trailer Wheel Bearing Replacement video over all. It step by step, complete with how to and why plus tricks to make removal/reinstall easier.
Anybody posting videos on TH-cam should watch this video. Take notes people he doesn’t bore you to death with telling you what he is going to do or how he is going to do it. Excellent video. I’ve done bearings once before years ago. I will do them again with much more confidence in what I’m doing. Thank you.
nice video straight to the point and helpful tips. my spindle has a tiny bit of surface rust so il use the emery cloth and then buff it. you sir have earned another subscriber
Thanks! I must watched 10 videos on bearing service and they never show how much grease, if any to pack into the actual hub itself. You showed us. Amen
Wanting to do the wheel bearings on my boat trailer for the first time. Watched several how to videos including from auto parts stores and your video was the best and most informative, particularly with the handy hint on using the old bearings race! Thanks from the Real South……Australia!
You will be glad you did. I saw several boats trying to get out from the hurricane this week on the side of the road with bearing and axle problems. Man you talk about stress!
What a great video. Thank you. I followed your steps and it went together without a hitch. What size tire are those on the trailer. I'm looking to increase the size of my 15" tire. I have a very similar trailer that I use for canoes. Thanks again.
The hubs have a machined lip for the race position. You will be able to tell when the race is against it by how the hammer responds, it will feel different once against the lip and also by the sound.
Never have problems with grease leaking past the rear seal on the axle? Im having that problem. When adding grease or using the trailer some grease leaks past the rubber seal on the axle. Tried adjusting the castle nut tighter for a better seal but didn’t help. Its a pretty straightforward procedure so im wondering how its so finicky. Don’t want to keep changing seals when the issue might just be the nut adjustment
I like to clean the spindle and hub out with brake cleaner. He used gas on a rag at least, but you don't get the blasting action like you do using a spray cleaner, especially after you've sanded and used scotchbrite. You want all those little sand and scotchbrite particles out of there that you won't get with just using a rag.
Do you use the Bear Buddy Bra’s on your bearings to protect grease from flying everywhere? Plus the Bra’s keeps the Salt Water from rusting your Grease Fitting. Awesome video and thanks for sharing!!!
The Bearing Buddys were invented so you shouldn't have to do this. If installed and greased periodically, the bearings should last for many, many years without any problems.
if you kept your bearing buddies full of grease that would never have happened, bearing buddy had no grease what so ever. i grease mine before and after launching every time
I’ve been watching about 15 videos and noticed that you are the best of them all Tanks for the good information.❤
Thanks for the kind words. Hope it helped you.

I'd like to say it was my idea but I copied from somebody else!
Perfect video. Thank you
Super helpful. Thank you
Great video ❤
when putting in the race, does it only go in one way / direction? or is the direction they face universal?
They only go in one way, the cone should face the the bearing. You can see the set up before you remove the old race.
Great video.👍
Great Video & Thank You!
Awesome video will do this too myn clear instructions cheers m8
Thanks for that cutting the race tip. That's equal to a $29.95 tool.
Very informative video. Thank you sir!
Is it a issue if you nick the inside while removing race?
No not at all, the new bearing race is the part to protect.
Great video Sir!!!!
Always good to check bearing when traveling. I pull over and feel the hubs for heat on long trips. Have Phun and be safe. 🎆 Happy 4th.
Happy 4th
Great tip on the race's cuz!!

These are 12 inch tires. I was worried about them on my keys trip but didn't have any problems.
Thanks
Thanks for the video
Great video!!
How to get the right side bearing for the trailer?
Not sure exactly what your question is, Bearing kits have both inner and outer bearing and races with seals and both trailer sides are the same.
Great Job! You made a job that is a pain seem easy!
Some good info for sure 👍👍
Excellent video
best vid ive seen
How do you know how far down to put the races? Will it stop at a certain point? Girl asking. Going to attempt this
The hubs have a machined lip for the race position. You will be able to tell when the race is against it by how the hammer responds, it will feel different once against the lip and also by the sound.

The nut mainly just adjusts for the preload on the bearings, Seems like more of a seal quality issue.

Yes I do have the rubber caps ( If that is what a bear buddy bra is) on both my boat trailers.
Can use any marine greas for the bearings?
I use just regular wheel bearing grease but a marine grade would be better.
tks for the tip
The trailer bearing master.^^^
Nice video! I definitely wanna replace bearings on new to me 1973 small boat trailer. Are they all universal?
Most small boats are 1 inch axle size but I would pull a hub and measure just to be sure.
@@SRadigFishing sounds great. Thank you.
Hey great video. Can I reuse the seals if my bearings are good and just need grease?
Yes if you can get them out without damage.
Great. Thanks for the info.
Thanks 🙏 thanks
You know you can hit the hub with a torch getting it is hot as you can then the races should just drop in super smooth
Thanks for the tip, will try.
@@SRadigFishing It may help to put the race in the freezer overnight also.
What size is the washer ?
I just reused the one that was in place. It would be different sized depending on the axle size.
Супер, красавчик
Put the race in the freezer and heat up your hub that race will slide right in.
Nice video, thanks
I will try that technique also, I have three boat trailers and sure one will need bearings soon. Thanks.
Always use double liped marine seals with stainless ring. That seal you used is for non marine applications.
Going to have to look for the seal you stated locally. Thanks for the tip. Will update the video when I find them.
If u don't put rubber caps on your buddy bearings first time u back in water your bearings are full of water, been there done that !!

Steve, it’s Jay if you still have my # call me please.
