Great info and presentation! Most of the handyman trailer hub installation videos are only about installing and nothing about spindles and part sizes which is very important!
I got a straight spindle but its 3/4”…. There was no hub to begin with. The rims have no lug nuts.. i wanna put some with lug nuts on it. All that was on it was 2 roller bearings same size and 2 grease seals with a castle nut.. am i outta luck putting something different on it? Thinkingvi gotta get different axles and weld em on the arm..
Interesting, there should certainly be rims and lug nuts. Is this from an old trailer or a recently purchased trailer or is the product recently purchased?
Is spindle length important? are they all the same size? if not, do you measure including the threads or just base to start of threads. I have the 1.0625" diam straight spindle.
You failed to mention matching the correct hub width for the length of your spindle. Many small older trailers have a short length 1 inch dia. spindle.
Many are buying the redy to go Hub with bearings for the tapered 1 1/16 and 1 3/8" bearing sets only to find the hub is too long and the bearing locations don't match up on the inside of the hub. It's probably a good idea to go with OEM from the trailer manufacturer.
I have a Carry-on trailer with a really messed up hub; finally cut bolt/nut off and looking for the correct hub for this axle. Manufacturer says 1 and 1/16 inch. I cant seem to slip the bearings through. The axle is a tapered spindle. Since my old wheel bearing was disintegrated, I can only find info from the manufacturer. Still researching... any thoughts and comments are appreciated.
Hi Barry - Thanks for reaching out to West Marine! Unfortunately, these charts are not on our website. They were on the Tie Down website but Tie Down no longer makes trailer hubs. We can provide a chart that helps you out if you contact our Product Advice team at productadvice@westmarine.com!
Watched the video. was interested...went to the website and not a single thing there about hubs. even looked through the OEM trailer book and nothing in there bout hubs or axles. a pretty worthless video if you talk about stuff on your site that isn't there.

I can see how this determines bearing size, but how would you determine hub size?
How do I remove an ancient trailer hub.. 6 bolt big spindle - I can't weld.
Where are these charts on your website? Having no luck finding them on there.

Are the bearings made in USA or China
Hi scott and velma keith - Tie Down Engineering advises they are Made in the USA.
Can old trailers with mobile home axles have the hubs replaced? Fran
It depends some are welded on and some are bolted.
hi, i was looking for some hubs with holes instead of lugs but can't find any on your website?
good video it helped. would be nice to see USA on those parts instead of China lol.
Yeah cause everyone else don't buy from China

Michael, thank you for the feedback. Here is what we currently offer on trailer hub kits: www.westmarine.com/search?Ntt=trailer+hubs
You keep making plastic hub caps so your warranty don't mean shit. You know you are screwing us
Scott, we appreciate your feedback. We have passed your product comments along to our product team.
