- I wouldn't be caught dead owning one of these 3 car brands, and I don't think you should buy them either. This is a tough video to make, because every car brand has some great things going for them, but these are the car brands to avoid.
Whether you're buying a luxury car, a performance car, an exotic car, or just an everyday car, there's a car for you. However, these are the car brands to avoid as far as I'm concerned.

They say Range Rovers are the most stylish and comfortable vehicle you can sit in while waiting for the tow truck. 😅
Always lease a Range Rover. Never ever EVER buy one.
I can contest to this 😭🤣
It is often said that 7 out of 10 Range Rovers are still on the road. The other three made it to their destination.
Hahahahahahahahaha!!!
This is gold!! 😂
Range Rover has had problems forever...it's amazing what they charge for them...
Most of the "buyer" lease their vehicle, ranger rover, bmw, and Mercedes
Low IQ people with full pocket of money still purchase them
my mom bought one last week she loves it, no problems yet...
Land Rover warranty is
4 years/50,000 miles. That's all that junk can afford.
Jeep warranty is
5 years/60,000 miles. Little better, but still awful.
Toyota, GM, VW, Honda, Ford, BMW, Nissan, Stellantis, Mercedes warranty is also
5 years/60,000 miles!
Stay away from junk. Go with Hyundai-Kia's legendary 10-year 100,000 mile warranty!

Range Rover definitely turns heads while mechanics turn wrenches 🔧 😂 Great review Mark have a fabulous week 🇨🇦

Love my 2018 optima. Not one single problem since I bought it.
I think it comes down to proper maintenance. Too many keep a car for 2 or 3 years then trade it in or it is a lease car they don't intend keeping got long. So consequently they don't worry too much about proper maintenance and drive them as if they stole it .
I’m driving a 20 year old Hyundai Sonata GLS and it doesn’t owe me a dime. Love this car. Just under 100,000 miles, comfortable and solid drive. Was thinking of trying the 2024 Kia Seltos, but not after hearing all the bad reviews, CVT trans & price. I prefer to stay with auto trans so will likely look at the Mazda lineup. But I really hate those ridiculous tablets sitting on the dashboards of cars today.
Don't worry about it. Just buy it. Hyundai-Kia guarantees that transmission will last 10 years/100,000 miles.

@@CKY1942 You should also check the recalls of those vehicles. Engine fire like Hyundai or kia or windshield wiper issue like GM? Good luck with your hyundai and 100 years of warranty. 😂
Mazda has issues also. Just do your research. I go millions of miles combined with Toyota Lexus Hybrids. They are your best bet. I have a 2021 Corolla up to 65 MPG and super low maintenance costs. And I have never added any oil to any of them because it was low. Good luck.
The only thing that doesn’t disappoint to work in those Range is the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
I have driven Hyundai for 30 years. Fabulous cars and easy to maintain. Love them.
There was recent survey saying the: One out of three Hyundai owners are JUST as STUPID as the other two! LOL
I have had a much different experience with Hyundai. I owned a 2007, 2013, 2017 Elantra and a 2020 Sonata and they all have been very good cars. The 2007 was totaled in a wreck but kept my daughter safe. The 2013 Elantra is being driven by her and has around 145,000 miles on it with very little going wrong. The 2017 Elantra has 51,000 on it and the 2020 Sonata around 36,000 on it and both have been extremely reliable, trouble free with great gas mileage. Hyundais have very good safety ratings as well. I wouldn't keep buying them if they were as much trouble as you say, just adding my two cents!
I put almost 400,000km on my 2015 Elantra before I gave it up....hardly any issues...sucked in snow cause wheel wells clogged...some rotor issues but was a work horse for me over all!
@@rogerpaquette109Same here, I currently have a 2015 Hyundai Elantra SE. I haven’t any major issues either. Maybe because they were built in South Korea!

You've had four cars since 2007. I'm still driving a 2006 GMC ENVOY I bought in 2009. How do you know a vehicle is reliable if you only keep it 3 or 4 years. You're dumping them because they are disposable.
I took you up on the challenge to google the most recalled vehicles and Hyundai and Kia were not truly represented. Ram, Jeep, Tesla and surprisingly, Porshe dominated all the lists.
My 2017 Kia Soul has had zero problems in six years. One recall I can remember. Best car I ever bought. Been driving for 50 years.

Owner of a 2018 Kia Sportage 2.4L with 87K miles, its been a very reliable SUV. This is our first Korean vehicle and IMO it is very well made and easy to work on (l do my own maintenance and repairs, dont trust my local stealerships). The only issue so far has been the excessive oil consumption problem which is apparently common with all GDI engines from all manufacturers. The GDI engine design causes excessive carbon buildup in the piston rings, mine started loosing alot oil at @75K. I did a DYI piston ring cleaning procedure using berryman B-12 chemtool, only cost me $20. Problem was solved, no more oil consumption and the SUV is running great. I would definitely consider buying another KIA, but I already own the best one, since its paid for.

So it’s a great car except for the fact that at 85,000 miles the engine is basically shot? No bottle of tonic is going to permanently repair that issue. Consider the cylinder wall damage.
Not all DGI engines GULP oil! My '13 Focus with 93k miles on the clock uses LESS than .5qt of synthetic oil between YEARLY oil changes at 4500mile interval. The 2013 to 2018 Foci have NEVER had oil issues and they ALL have DGI engines! Apparently Ford CAN build engines that have proper oil control and Hyundai/Kia not so much! I admit that the Focus DOES have carbon build up on the back of the intake valves that requires induction cleaning at times, which ALL GOOD DGI engines need, except for the "dual" injector ones like those in current Toyota models! I realize that you Kia-fan boys are butt-hurt with all the bad press that your POS vehicles are getting, but it is what it is!

Our Hyundai (note the Y) has been excellent. Reliable, economical.
Been driving Koreans for a while. Kia Rio and now a Hyundai Tucson for the past 5 years. No major issues, just had to replace headlights within warranty period, otherwise comfy, quiet and drives like a breeze.
Headlights have been a big problem with Kia’s and Hyundais. I owned a 2020 kia optima and I had headlight problems every 2 months, and then it ended up getting totaled. I now own a 2023 Hyundai Elantra, and I had to take it back to the dealership to fix the condensation in the headlights. But other than that, I haven’t had any other problems with the cars.

Not all of us experienced the good side. Just recently, major recalls, engine fires. My Elantra was a smoke generator.
I’ve had several Jeeps (Wranglers and Grand Cherokee) that were some of the most reliable and most comfortable vehicles I’ve owned. I agree the Renegades and Cherokees are junk but my last Wrangler I put 168,000 trouble free miles on and the new owner is still driving it every day.
What year models?
Say what you want about Kias, if you enter a modern day Kia and start to press on the interior panels you'll experience a much better build quality than anything coming from Stellantis, plastics are a higher quality, you'll notice things line up really well and no squeaks or rattles when you push in, the panels have good solid attachments to the underlying body so nothing moves much. I'll give them props for at least trying to elevate their interiors, can't say the same for Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, or even a brand like Mitsubishi with horrible interior quality fit and finish.
Indeed, i have only good things to say about Kia.
Yeah that would be on my avoid list as 4th. Kia is trying to shine up junk
My friend has a Stinger GT 3.3 and its amazing. He went from an Audi S4 to a Kia and he likes it more.

I have a 10 year old Kia Sorento v6. I am glad I never bought the 4cyl engine. I have not had issues with my car except the steering wheel controls that sporadically fail. Other than that it has never failed mechanically.
I Have 2 Kia Borrego, one with 300K and the other one 200K miles on them, most dependable vehicules ever owned.
Hyundai V6s and the 1.6 turbo are known to be reliable

I bought a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. So far, I really like it. I'm with you about the engine failures they had in the past few years. I hope they're past those manufacturing problems now. One related topic I think you shouldn't skip is the 5/10 year Hyundai warranty. If my motor blows up in the next four and a half years, at least Hyundai is going to replace it. That's more than you can say about most other manufacturer's warranties which are only three years.

Disagree on the Hyundai/Kia designation. i can think of at least 4 italian car brands that are far more unreliable. Learnt to drive stick in an Excel. It was fine. Kia Sorrento is a fantastic car as are the Hyundai Palisades. Warranty is great and they don't have major issues. I was surprised to find them featured here.
those italian brands are maserati, alfa romeo, fiat and ferrari
Of all the cars I see sitting on the side of the road waiting for tow trucks I don't think even one has been a Hyundai. My wife bought a new Elantra GL in 2014 and my stepson a new Elantra GT the same year, and before the year was up I bought a new Elantra GLS (2015 model) which were all excellent cars for what we paid for them. I dealt up to a new Tucson in 2017 and drove across Canada in 2020 to move to Vancouver where I sold that vehicle in 2021. My stepson is still using his 2014 Elantra which a dealership near Vancouver put a new engine in about a year and a half ago because of some sort of recall, even though the old one was still running perfectly.
Hyundai today is a far better vehicle and company than they were even 15 years ago.

I can't say anything about the new Jeeps, but my 02 Grand Cherokee has 270,000 miles on it and it is still going. I love my Jeep. I had to break down last year and overhaul my A/C. With that many miles, what did I expect? New compressor, condenser, receiver/dryer, everything except the evaporator. Works like new now. I did all of the work myself. I do have that pesky evaporative fuel leak, and as soon as I figure out how to confuse the computer, that will no longer be a problem. I am 76 years old, and I absolutely REFUSE to buy a new Jeep. I have to disagree with you on the KIA Hyundai. I’ve owned 2 Sportage’s and 2 Sorento’s over the last 20 years. No recalls no problems whatsoever. Each one ran over 200,000 miles and still ran and drove like new when I traded them in. In my opinion they are on par with a Toyota.

Nailed it. Chrysler of any kind scares me to the bone. Chevy has more than its share of stinkers, especially their smaller entries. The cars that my sales guys feared to have me appraise the most were the Dodge Durango, or that superstinker the Chevy Cruz.
Dealer killers if I ever saw them.
Chrysler only has 2-3 cars in its lineup. It's at the brink of failure. Lancia's more at that point with the Ypsilon being the only one left.
The Chevy Cruz is probably a Daiwoo clone of an Opel .

I have to agree with you on these brands 100%. To be honest as of right now in 2023 I do not think I would buy anything other than Toyota/Lexus and then maybe Mazda or Honda. Honda was once a favorite brand, but it is not any longer. I do not trust any other brands right now and GM, Ford, and Stellantis would be down on my least favorite brands. Ford and GM have really gone downhill. I have hope for Stellantis they have made strides and I am really interested in seeing how well the Hurricane engine will be reliability wise and how long they will last. @@machinesofgod they stopped making the Pony and the Excel 30 yrs ago..🤣
@@rudfil Yes, but even the new vehicles they make don't last long. Sure, they are more reliable than their older cars, but when they start falling apart around 100k miles when a Toyota or Honda can go 300-400k is not a significant improvement.
I have heard similar comments elsewhere about Hyundai/KIA and Jeep. I am not an expert. However, somehow they sell a heck of a lot of Hyundai/KIA vehicles and, to a lesser extent, Jeep. You'd think the word would get around and kill sales if they were as bad as this video indicates.
They have 100k mile warranties and they're cheaper than the competition. Most people know nothing about cars. They see the warranty and the price and they open their checkbooks. There is no free lunch.
Nobody believes him or Scotty.
Americans bought so many Hyundai-Kia vehicles that Hyundai-Kia doubled sales in last 20 years. Hyundai-Kia surpassed American Honda and Stellantis to become 4th best-selling automaker in the USA. Junk can't never do that. Junk would fall like Nissan.

Nah, this could be summed up in three words: GM, Ford and Stellantis.
👍 I can' confirm that as I used to buy GM and Ford. I never knew what a good car was until I bought my first Japanese brand.. A new Honda Accord in 2001. I drove it 6 and 1/2 years and never had an issue. It was a great car !!!!

@@pyrexmaniac It's like this....In the 70's and early 80's the big three was building shit, the best thing that happened to them was competition from the Japanese, it forced them to up their game and stop building shit. 2016 Santa Fe just had the block replaced as it failed at 180k kms. To be fair they replaced it no quibble and provided a rental Rav 4. We'll be trading in soon.
I bought my Hyundai Tucson 2006, never had a problem except I was having problem stopping it on time when braking to stop. I discovered that the problem was the brake pads on the front passenger side was too thin and needs replacement. I did the replacement myself and now I am stopping without fear of crashing.
This is so strange.. Hyundai and Kia are topsellers here in Europe...I never heard of these catastrophic things concerning them. But then again...95% of the vehicles here manuals.
Yeah indeed. Im also so confused about all these Hyundai/Kia bashing comments or videos since here in Finland Hyundai and Kia are known from their reliability. 🤷♂️
The guy is a hater for no reason, he still lives in the 80"s 90's.
The most recent I heard is you can steal a Hyundai or Kia with a USB cable. Plus electrical fires had them recalled recently too. I test drove a Hyundai Tucson about a year ago and thought it was ok. I ended up going with the Mazda CX-50. I never buy but lease. Seems like Hyundai and Kia are trying to catch up to the pack but never will imo.
He’s talking about the older Hyundais with 4 cylinder Theta engines. Haven’t seen any major issues with newer 4 cylinder Hyundai engines. The normally aspirated V6 has been very reliable.
Hyundai/Kia reliability has really taken a dump for LATE model vehicles. The ONE exception is the Telluride/Palisade. These have been VERY reliable (so far), source: Consumer Reports, Aprill '22, Auto BUying Guide.
Always good useful information from my friend ❤
Hyundai gives 10years /100,000 warranty on power train units , something that no other manufacturer gives . So if anything fails before that , Hyundai eats it !
I remember Scotty also said a long time ago that Hyundai and Kia's are cheap quality, but the cars look nice to see. Range Rover is definitely a range over my budget.

100% spot on with Hyundai and kia, combination of cheap prices and customer stupidity makes them popular. Same thing goes for the Genesis brand the manufacturer won't reinvent a vehicle they will do some improvements but basically is the same car. Market the vehicle as a luxury car and raise the price only to find it has same problems.

Parents had two Santa Fes (trading in one for another) and both had a recall to fully replace the engines. They had enough and went to the Highlander. They love Toyota now that they appreciate why they cost a bit more.
1 million Highlanders were recalled because bumpers were falling off. 😂😂😂
2 million RAV4s were recalled because it could catch fire.
What was your point on recalls?
@@CKY1942 I owned the XA30 Rav4 over 10 years. Never had I ever heard of a fire recall for a Rav4. Meanwhile Hyundai and Kia still have recalls for fire hazards from 2016 to modern models. In fact a woman on Hwy 401 was pulled from her car just last week before it went up in total flames. And her Hyundai wasn't on the recall list. Hyundai look nice because they hired an Audi designer but otherwise they're made to the cheapest standards possible. Ask the Kia boys.
Of course you are going to pay MORE for a Toyota, quality does not come cheap!
Everybody thinks Hyundai and Kia have resolved their issues. Nope still engine and transmission problems. There are a few that haven't had issues. But why take a chance, especially when Toyota and others are the same price. Why would you choose something problematic?!?
100 percent agreed
Honestly, my family has owned over 25. Hyundai and Kia have never had an engine problem or transmission problem. In fact almost have never brought them back for any recalls. Many of them had over 160,000 miles on them.
I drive a 2014 Kia Cadenza SXL. 100,000 miles. I do the recommended maintenance and baby it, as it is my daily driver. Other than a brake release issue, zero problems. Im planning on another 100K miles.
In 1984, I almost purchased an Excel, thanks to the honest salesman who suggested to buy one with a manual, otherwise I would have issues going up hills, so I walked away, spent a bit more and got a Corolla instead.
Should've gone for a Civic manual, much more fun to drive than a Corolla.
Yeah, in the 80's. That's when Hyundai was selling around 200,000 units a year. Now they sell almost 800,000 units. This is not counting Kia. Hyundai-Kia is now a top notch automaker that has surpassed American Honda and Stellantis to become 4th best-selling automaker in the USA.

To each his own . I have my 2017 Hyundai dealer serviced. So maybe many secret recalls? I got a letter from Hyundai that they would cover the short block of the engine for life. All these companies have issues. Hyundai has been taking care of me so far.
Newer Hyundais have replaced faulty engines with new ones, that have port and dual injection like Toyota. They also have 8-speed transmissions, which have been reliable also.
Ive had problems with: Hyundai, Kia, and Nissan. My last 2, including current vehicle: Toyota and Mazda. Very happy with these 2, much better quality. Id rather buy a 3 year old Toyota than a new Kia or Hyundai. LOVE Mazda.
A LOT of folks, including me, would agree with you!
Do you include Genesis with Hyundai as far as reliability issues? 😮😮😮
2017 Elantra, bought new. Over 100.000 miles. 0 repairs. 0 issues. Most reliable car ive ever owned. Drives nice, and comfortable.
My family has had 4 sonatas and 3 tucson since 2006. One Sonata was totalled by a drunk driver. The other 6 Hyundais are still going with only routine service and a few other issues but NO drive train issues. Two of the Tucson are 2023s and the other 5 vehicles have a total of over 555'000 miles.
The man paints with a very broad stroke.
My mom had a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe that got well over 200,000 miles with no problems, only routine maintenance. I've had five Hyundais and not a single major problem with any of them. I currently have a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid and it is more stylish and comfortable than the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. It also does not have a CVT, unlike the Honda and Toyota. I will admit that the 6-speed transmission in my vehicle is better than the 8 or 9-speed.
every car company have issues, recalls, class action litigation. Ford is number one three years in a row for recalls. This includes the German junk and Japanese are no bargain too. 🇺🇸
I have 150,000 miles on my 2006 Ford Freestar, and there has never been a problem. I did see another Freestar with 640,000 miles, and it was still running.
This is why I still drive my 24 year old 4runner with over 200k miles. No real issues.
Australian here , Jeep has a reputation here for spending more time off road in the service centre than ANY other vehicle. Range Rover not far behind.
hyundai is a great brand... at least the newer 2010+ years are. hyundai and kia both came a long way...
The Hyundai "Excel" of the 80's, replaced by the Hyundai "Accelerant" of the 2010's. You have to love a cheaply made, over priced car that you shouldn't park in your garage due to spontaneous combustion. Land Rover? You do know that 90% of all Land Rovers made are still on the road? Still waiting for a tow truck. And good old American quality Jeep. Made by Stellantis AG, with a hint of that Fiat reliability. What can possibly go wrong?
"Land Rover? You do know that 90% of all Land Rovers made are still on the road?" Yeah. Because the other 10% made it to where they were going.
90% of rovers are in England mechanic Shops🤣🤣🤣
Actually Fiat is a decent brand sold all over world because there’re simple and cheap to run. Fiat builds dozens of different models of cars and trucks and only 2 models were sold in North America in small numbers and idiots in Canada and the US were already complaining before the cars were even sold here.
Right...They are so wonderful that they are no longer imported to the United States due to their lack of sales due to unreliability and over all lack of quality and safety.@@rudfil

I just traded my 2018 Santa Fe sport in a little over a month ago. 2.4 gdi quite similar to the red one shown in this video.
I wanted to give hyundai a chance. I bought it used with 50k miles and i put 50k on it
Prior to trading it in i was putting about a quart of oil a week in it.
It served ok for 50 k miles but i dont want to deal with headaches when it eventually blows a motor. It didn't like starting in cold weather. Sometimes sporadically it didn't want to start at all.
Clunky transmission at low speeds and downshifting.
Just my experience with the car
Sorry for your bad Hyundai experience ,but used? You are always rolling the Dice. I know people who never change oil, never check tires ,never open the owners manual then dump the car when warranty expires. We use Mobil 1 ,check oil and tires and air cleaners constantly. My experience with Fiat is mixed. My first one a used 127 back in the 1980s worked but never being garage rusted quite a bit. My second a Panda in 2000s I kept for 14 years in which time I needed to replace the gear box. In those 40 years, my experience is that car brands of all categories have improved in quality, even those considered less prestigious like Ford, Renault, Opel. The best improvement came from the VW and Toyota groups with respectively the huge improvement in Audi and the launch of Lexus.
Many would already know JD power or consumer report. If we check the sources, we will know easily what cars they should buy within their budget. Actually according to this report, many models in Hyundai and Kia are actually very good decision. Reliable, less maintenance and reasonable price. As we know, car model is more important than the brand. Car manufacturers pursued some change and innovation in some models but not always success and quality is not good…
