There is a little something you might want to learn about for off-roading - suspension rebound. While you might have plenty of STATIC clearance, it is important to come off of obstacles very SLOWLY as the suspension will hit the next surface and COMPRESS which will reduce your clearance and you might just hit something important under the truck. The slower you go, the less rebound and loss of clearance you will have. It can also be important for daily driving if you drive over a curb or something. When you come down on the far side of the curb, the suspension will compress and you might hit bottom behind the tire.
Not that big deal with the Cybertruck, there's nothing sensitive there. And the battery has a big air gap inside, so even a serious dent wouldn't be dangerous.
The old Model S is even better, it has a titanium armor plate in the front. It crushes cinder blocks without getting scratched.
I want the record to show that while yes my spotting was horrible for the logs, I was busy filming 😭😂😂
worst spotter . . . I can't believe he didn't stop you when that log got turned 90 degrees! Big-Oooof! Love the Cybertruck though!
Chris, I think you should get under your truck and look at the underbody to check for any damage, yikes
I highly doubt the battery was damaged AT ALL. Theres a good several inches of space for it to crush
Kinda figured he'd be alright even with it going like that😭😂
Especially with commands like "go that way", rather than driver or passenger.
😂 he was filming too soooo
This is legit the best offroad test I've seen of the Cybertruck. I feel like this deserves some shorts to get people watching the whole thing. Really cool.
omg Cris thank you so much for that!
this was the best use case of offroading I ever seen!
no staging & scripted! just realistic & genuine!
Yikes...lol...thanks for taking one for the team. Please, CT owners, watch a lot of videos on HOW to off-road before doing it in your $100k truck.
We can officially say that this is a Dirty Tesla
Muddy Tesla
"covered in dirt" is the best colour for any truck. Better than any wrap.
take tires to 10 psi... enable locker mode... put in extract mode... remote mode flaps or generally trim them etc. Also grab so rock sliders for front and rear to bash instead of bumper work... Thanks for beating crap out of it for our entertainment!
Articulation is much better in "High", and still has decent ground clearance. Only go higher if you really need to.
That, sir, was PAINFUL!! But a shi*load of fun. Great vid!
We all know we are waiting for Whistling Diesel Video 🌚
Not sure I'd test my $100K Cybertruck like what you did, Chris - but, it was a great test and you sure proved that Tesla built a great product - amazing!!!
people are testing more expensive products in much harder ways! if that was really a tough truck you would do real offroad! why not the hells revenge that tesla "faked" on youtube"
I would. I don't think you can break anything expensive, unless you do something really stupid.
That front camera is HUGELY helpful.
Those donuts were pretty nuts!
But negative points for clickbait.
When going over the logs, put the truck into "Extraction Mode" for maximum clearance.
Yeh for many thing's it felt like they didn't use anything
yeah and zero flex or way to absorb the shock right! lol!!!!
@@carholic-sz3qv Zero flex and bumpy ride yes, but it will clear the log without scraping on the battery pack and potentially damaging it. Once you clear it, put it in Off Road mode to regain some flex.
@@petemiller519 lol!!!!!!it literaly scrapped on the battery pack! the Mercedes Gklasse electric has a real thich carbon fiber composite and Carwow did a very harsch driving and it took it like a champ not this.
@@carholic-sz3qv Bro, I am not talking about a Merc. We were conversing about the Cybertruck, and what can be done to clear an obstacle. But now that you brought it up, a lot of EV manufacturers have warranty disclaimers stating if the underside gets scratched or damaged in any way, it will void the warranty for the battery and needs replacement. Not sure what Tesla has in the fine print, but it would not surprise me if the battery pack is scratched or dented, the warranty could be void. This is a big problem with off-roading an EV. Cheers.
Not to Self: When Chris puts his Cybertruck up for sale in a few years, don't buy it. But kudos to the truck for surviving that brutal log course.
You did good...and better your truck than mine😂😂
This was so fun! Seeing your first videos of the rocks and dirt in your tesla…until now…and we went full circle!
Nothing feels better than off-roading in a $120k vehicle.
Sure, as long as it belongs to someone else.
i dont know man
Nothing feels better than off-roading in a $120k vehi- I mean a $100k ve- an $85k vehic- dammit a $70k veh- oh for F***s sake
The vehicle serves you, not the other way around. Nobody complains when someone uses a $100,000+ Ford/GM off road - shrugs -
Worst spotter ever. I'm sorry your truck had to go through that, all due to a bad spotter. You may be excited and pushing the truck, but pure negligence from the spotter led to a bad experience. Whether you're willing to admit it publicly.
The race against the quad looked like a couple of RC cars racing in the dirt 😅
Why didn’t you use locking differentials on the logs and the first rock climb? It would have really helped!
Overall you did great man. I’ve taken mine on some mountain roads with lots of holes washboard and whoops driving fast, using Baja Mode. Super fun, and now it has the option for rugged roads, and I’ve needed that setting. It does way better than other pickups and Jeeps.
If it really has a mechanical locking diff, then it should definitely be on in many of these tests.
But, there's no center diff, and I doubt software based "locking" between axles is working as well as a good, ole mechanical center-diff-lock.
@@jsjs6751they are mechanical I think on the dual motor as one motor for each axle, not each wheel.
@@jsjs6751
From what I've seen the software works well. And will get more tuning over time, that's one of the advantages of Tesla.
@@jsjs6751no need for a centre diff when you have separate motors for each axle and can now vary how much power goes to each one on the fly. Can't do that with a centre diff!
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Well done!
Nothing gained is a good way to put it
You’r supposed to take the mudguards off when you go off-roading.
Oh. You knew that.
or dont go offroading at all!
I know the batt pack is made for this even without the added shield but be nice to see what that looks like after that log lodging under you.
Great video. Thanks for conveying what offroad feels like with this. I'd do lockers on all the time but it looks really capable and comfortable.
DIRTY Tesla... F**k Yeah!
I like how the Cybertruck performed during your testing. I'm surprised.
The log going parallel was definitely an issue. Would’ve been fine without that.
Captain obvious has entered the chat... Jkjkjk had to 😂
That was a ton of fun! You were way more brave than I would have been.
Why do people keep ignoring how the manual says to take off the mud guards when going off road and then are surprised when they break?
Like I said I was supposed to hit ran out of time 😁
Are you really that surprised that people don't read the manuals?... lol
At least in this case, he wasn't surprised when they broke. lol
commenting before watching is hard too apparently. all you had to do was watch first few minutes.
All this off-roading and no exhaust fumes to breath and no obnoxious engine noise 👍
nonsense! its alwsays the same lame comments and arguments! did you make your own vehicel before even giving your point!? there are literaly 30 years old toyota hilux with 90hp that does much better offroad than this and in third world countries in very harsch environments without any good roads or infrastructures.
Totally living up to the channel name!
As you’re doing this, I’m thinking about my Safety Score for Tesla Insurance and I could not afford it. I’d drop from a 99 to a 70. Lol
Chris, that was crazy fun! Remind me not to buy your Cybertruck when you're done with it, though. 😂
It would’ve been dope to have some outside footage of you shredding the dirt track!!
That charger would be ideal for electric dirt bikes. Top up over lunch!
+1 for getting outside your comfort zone.
Lots of respect for this. Great vid.
Was it in extract or very high for the logs? Might want to check the battery pack's bottom pan.
Man drives Cybertruck onto massive log lol
And damages the log.
The timing of this video with Everyday Chris’s most recent video is hilarious.
Great video. Really showed that the truck is a capable truck to take off road. Anything more and should get a custom off roader anyway💪
Honestly surprised to see a solar panel in Michigan. I mean, I guess it’s better than nothing I suppose. Any chance of taking it out for a day to Mt Morris at The Mounds?
Oh, I'm just loving that you're pushing your Cybertruck, Chris! Hell yeah!
Lockers on the logs would have helped a ton!!!
Your test is more realistic than Tesla's,
Only in this way can we know exactly what the Cybertruck's capabilities are.
Just had my CT hands-on over the Vivatech expo in Paris. Looks awesome and just a few months (and hundreds of videos) down the line and it doesn't even look too crazy. It just belongs. Steel looked quite a bit darker than expected under artificial lights, edges weren't too sharp, didn't try the frunk wiener test. Spacious inside tho tall fellas such as myself need to sit up front over large bumps I'd imagine. Pretty great build quality, it was a dual motor Foundation.
I thought your wife was recording until I heard that grizzly bear voice. 😂
Is 25 the right tire pressure for off-road? Would be nice if it told you what pressure to use based on the terrain and mode.
you can go as low as 10 and its gonna bascially help you for any terrain you just dont want to go fast with the pressure that low because you can pop the bead or roll over the side walls.
Tesla recommends 35ish so your tires don't come off but you can see here it did ok
Love to see full send of the Cybertruck through that park ...Probably ruin it but what a hoot that would be!
Curious about hill decent modes - particulalry in snow and ice. How do you manage this weight going down an icy hill? (with the proper tires of course)
01:08 better hope that if you are stuck someone see that long flag pole 😅 it looks so flexible that I imagine it could hit the roof if you punch the throttle
Congrats! You went 1:23 before the firstly "cool."
Awesome Truck. Can't believe you are doing this.
Hopefully after putting the vehicle through all that he gave it a once over at the mechanic to ensure the daily driver is good enough to continue its life.
Even armoured tanks get maintenance after battle activity.
It was more a driving on a dirt road and far from a true off-road.
A few minutes inspection under the car, if there is any impact on the chassis cover, and if everything is fine around the brakes/shock absorbers, that's it.
@@dchubworldsharenetwork
Driving over logs is far from true off-road? Driving up stairs is not off-road? What is true off-road then?
This is like the "I drive 1000 miles every day without stopping to pee" crowd, that pops up every time when EV range is discussed.
Driving over logs was the only point where he "could" damage the chassis or something in front...
But the car did not get stuck on the logs with the front wheels off the ground. Damage to the chassis, part(s) or electrical cables due to the weight of the car.
So it was more cosmetic damage than chassis/parts damage.
Everything else was just driving on a dirt road, nothing strong/heavy enough to seriously damage parts on the chassis.
If the car can't handle a fairly normal drive on a dirt road, then it's better that he just burns the car down. 🤣
Sure... Easy Off-road. 🙂
It's not something that requires 10 hours to check the chassis, etc.. Easy inspection if there is anything that is visible, etc.
Check on TH-cam. Off-road...
@@dchubworldsharenetwork
So it doesn't count as off-road if the car is still drivable at the end?
Ouch - you need a new spotter!
I couldn’t do that to my Tesla 😅
You're living up to your name Dirty Tesla! Thanks for the fun!
I liked how you did a Judkins with the Ridge wallet. haha.
Nobody gets quite this _Down and Dirty_
We love your work Chris.
The hero we need! Now start doing jumps
You sir are as smart as a box of rocks.
It's a shame how few views this video is getting given how viral the log video went. Pretty interesting. I wouldn't buy one, and the fear of water is justified, but the inclines really show where it shines.
It's great when people steal your content :D
It's not the water, but the mud. And that quad promptly showed why.
I would have gone in anyway, too much fun. Just have to do gradually, to test the depth and traction.
@@andrasbiro3007 Cybertruck has warnings about going through the car wash voiding your warranty. Even though Elon says "it can be used for a short time as a boat", it wouldn't be the first time that he lied and put people's safety at risk.
Great video Chris! Would love more content like this as you develop your off roading skills. Maybe a collab with someone like Revere Overland!
Gonna need two new shocks and springs for the right side
Nope, just needed the aero flaps which Tesla replaced free
I CAN'T WATCH! Can't believe you did this to a $100,000 vehicle 😖
Great video!
And therefore the ct, is an off-road vehicle , we need a real snow test
That 4 wheeler is trying HARD to get run over
SO this truck costs like $120000 and I can go further in a $2500 Toyota pick up truck. Way to go Tesla!
Great video!
You should have used FSD to see how it would have done.
I'm pretty sure each of these character's 23&me DNA results specifically says 0.00% country-boy
I thank you for your service! 😂
All seems to be so easy
loved it!!
17 degree climb in street tires with ease by a noob because Cybertruck is “junk”.
When will haters ever admit that Tesla makes good shit?
The steps and one hill looked like got ~20s
Fun!
Haters can only hate. Must be miserable people.
Never drive it off road or in the rain or snow. In fact keep it away from your home or other cars or strucures.
Its a dam heavy explosive paperweight
I hope you're just joking and don't believe that. Sad if you've been brainwashed :(
HA YOU got to tow a quad out of the water!
My Prius could do that
How much did you get the truck?
I want a run back once I upgrade the Renegade a little bit
Doughnuts 😆
Loved the video! Thank you
did you film this before or after the update that activated the diff lockers
You made it on "Ozzy Man Reviews"
How come everything is "intimidating"? 10yo kids around me go over tougher stuff on worn out old 4 wheelers and beat up riding mowers. Men his age usually have some old Toyotas that go to a hell of a lot more then this. Its fuckin embarrassing
mud flaps really should be rubber and have spring retracting mounts
They're detachable - he only left them on for the s&g
@@andrewholdaway813 right but that’s an unnecessary hassle isn’t it?
Yeah wouldn't be much additional then the bolts and nuts currently.
Or go really fancy and motorized actuators.
@@darylfortney8081
_...hassle..._
It is, but then the whole vehicle is an unnecessary hassle.
@@andrewholdaway813what vehicle isn't?
Ai will do that course in the future
Needs some BFG K02’s to get more traction. I’m still waiting for my CT reservation to come thru.
Back
does this have locking differentials feature?
Yes
Yeah I use them later in the video
Next video, "the service center wont honor the trucks warranty".
"Wait let me enable my offroad mode" or "Wait let me put my cameras" these guys are going to be annoying on the trails.
I know it’s steer by wire but the one-hand driving style seems a bit sketchy.
Truck is very capable!
I’m here for this. Looked like a ton of fun! This makes me wish I had ordered my Cybertruck before this camping/off-roading trip I’m going on next month. Hope to see more videos of you driving it out in the wilderness this summer. Hopefully this helps pay for repairs 😆.
😂 thanks a ton! It is really fun
some larger, Off road tires would make a big difference IMO.
12,4 소식 없나요?
It's really easy to remove the front mud guards... TFL did it in 10 seconds
Thanks for the great video. Here's a little $ help, so support your extreme videos. I hope to get a cybertruck in a couple years, but i don't see me off-roading like that. Thanks again
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video
