If you press the trigger while going up from full choke, you go straight to "run/on" setting, not semi-choke. Move the lever up one notch without press the trigger for semi-choke, then blip the trigger once it starts to go to move it automatically to "run/on".
Well to be fair. There’s not a single minute of this video that implies that this gentleman is going to do anything other than harm himself and possibly others with this saw. I’ve never one made a safety comment on a video. But this is horrifying. No matter how he started the saw.
Here's a tip on tighten the chain hold the tip of the bar up while tighten the chain and then tighten the bar nuts up. Learned that from another channel
@@WalterRitchey the rot was spooky. Him not checking for it was far worse. But then the fact that neither of the cuts in the wedge were level or perpendicular to the tree….. I mean, what?
No I get it, we are novices. But we needed a saw that size to fall a dead 50+ year old oak tree that was a risk to the farm house. He cuts a LOT of wood, but it’s not his job, just hobby and necessity for property maintenance. We didn’t see much info on this model and wanted to help others before dropping this much money on a saw. Hopefully it provides some value to those considering one.
Think u got the hooking up with computer part with the 500i wrong, 661 and 500i is not in the same class to compare, both are beast 500i starts within 2 pull. 661 can run bigger bar
Im thinking 661 over 500i. But im not sure. I want a Long bar saw. seams like the 661 takes a back seat to the 500i on some things. And the 362 takes a back seat to the 400... Eh
Hey I have all the saws you mentioned and just from experience if you’re not bucking large logs or in need of the 36 inch bar I’d suggest the 362. 362 is a solid running saw with plenty of power and not so hard on your back. I love my 661 but after 8 hrs of running it in smaller 15 to 25 inch stuff it’s really heavy and takes all the fun out of cutting wood. Good luck with whatever you choose both are great saws.
You aren’t running ethanol gas in your saw are you? You want to use a better oil that the Stihl too. Who taught you how to tighten your chain/bar? I think you’re in over your head. No safety gear while cutting either?
Stihl sells their own synthetic premixed fuel, VP Racing does too. This saw is running on 93 Octane gas mixed with Stihl synthetic premix (grey bottles). More safety gear acquired since this video, not to worry. Also use caution running a saw.
I would like to buy a 661 but my dad won’t let me because he doesn’t like supporting companies that are wholly owned by one rich family. He also won’t let me shop at Aldi for the same reason.
Maybe he wants to use it for stumping too, in which case the wrap handle is in the way. There's no need for a wrap saw for homeowner use anyway, it's not like he's cutting on a slope or doing production cutting where every second matters. He can always just switch sides on the tree or cut with the top part of the bar if needs be.

I noticed that when I was playing around with it, but didn't realize the footage didn't match what he said. Good catch!

I was waiting for him to do something correctly or demonstrate equipment knowledge but never saw it...@@tater_salad3758
Tell me you don't know what you are doing, without telling me, you don't know what you're doing.
First saw?? Hold your bar tip up when you set chain tension.
Thanks for the suggestion! I think we've both always done it this way, but always down for a better method.
@@WalterRitchey there’s one “method” in the manual. I’ll let you guess which one.
@@WalterRitchey it’s up bro

Apparently the comment section is full of chainsaw experts -_-
Well, the bloke that made the vid clearly aint one.
Is this your 1st time using a chainsaw 🤣
Ear protection but no safety glasses???
We haven't had 661s for a long time, with us it's definitely 661c
Always check your notch and make sure both planes meet up even so you don't get a dutchman, and your hinge fails!
Thanks for the feedback, I'll make sure to mention this to him. I think that rot in the tree contributed to how it fell some as well.
@@WalterRitchey the rot was spooky. Him not checking for it was far worse. But then the fact that neither of the cuts in the wedge were level or perpendicular to the tree….. I mean, what?
We sense a little novice practice in your cut
Why so high? Leaning trees don't fall like that

Hold up on that bar when ya tighten it up?
They don't disappoint , awesome saw!

LOL... You have never cut a tree down in your life...
Jesus Christ the face cut and back cut at the end of the video 🤮
No knowledge of felling trees is good; There is a beginning for everything.
Memorial video) either him or the Saw didn’t make it
Warm your saw up before reving it. I'd also recommend a light bar

Us, apparently in France the ms661 is finished, it is necessarily the 661c
I'd get a 400 for felling and keep that 661 for bucking and milking

Your dad is a clown if you're spending your own money buy what you want!
sell it to vietnam bro
I like that saw
The best 661
Beautiful saw but in my opinion little to heavy for firewood, nice job!!!
No way to heavy its like a couple lbs heavier and gets the job done way quicker less fatigue
If it's a dedicated hand falling saw you should have got the rap around handle

He's mostly using it for home and farm use to remove dead trees and split for firewood. He doesn't do anything commercial, but we do like nice things.
How many cc is this chainsaw
91.1cc
Thats a nig upgrade from a 271! I just got one myself. Its going out for port work before I put gas in it.
