Love to see a guy quilting!! Most of my life, I thought my dad was the only guy who sewed! Jenny from MSQC used this block to make lovely butterflies. But I love the simplicity of this layout! Its amazing, simple and beautiful :) Hint for all those fabric scrap savers like me, sew a 2nd line on the corners about a 1/4 in away towards the point. Cut between the lines, and you have HST already made! I save them up to make scrappy baby blankets, or placemats for wedding gifts. Or you can donate them to a local quilt guild. There is always someone who can use them. :)
YT suggested this video. Sorry I it's my first time seeing this. It was great.🙂 I am working on a jelly roll quilt right now. Once I'm finished, I will definitely try this one next. Thank you!🍭
I liked the video and the gentleman that stared in it, however, this is just a word of advice. When matching points, "nesting" is the best way (in my opinion ). make sure all your seams in a strip is ironed in one direction and make sure the strip you are attaching it to is ironed in the opposite direction then when you put the two together they will "nest" wonderfully. There are tutorials that will show what I am talking about. It is not to criticize , just another way to match those seams up to make a perfect point. this was my first time watching SEW YEAH! I am subscribing to it. :)
Thanks so much for watching! So glad you enjoyed the tutorial. Hope to see you again soon! You can text TRADE to 833-351-0814 to receive notifications about our live events and sales, and to receive special offers!
Beautiful, easy to do quilt. Getting ready to start this quilt, thanks for the easy to follow instructions and free pattern! Love the "doesn't matter what you really do----do whatever you want!" comment at 9:18. I've replayed it over & over because it makes me giggle!
Old Quilter, New to your channel, so started with the oldest first. Love this video as it makes a nice block AND is such that I can adapt to ANY size I want. This is perfect for the quilts I make (for charity) as I have different size requirements.

TH-cam suggested this video and I’m glad I clicked on It. I like this design plus you can have a bonus quilt or matching pillows of you turn those cut off corners into HSTs. I’ve subscribed and I’m looking forward to catching up on your other videos. I love the wall behind you.
I wasn't sure I liked the sample but I do like the one with grey! I like that a slanted star pattern shows up too! You were speaking faster than normal in this video-I have a bit of trouble following fast speakers. Lucky I can go to settings to slooow you down! LOVE a man quilter, every single video I like the quilts you make it easy.
Just found you tonight and watching all the tutorials. Love what I've seen so far. Would love to see more 50" x70" as I make donation quilts and that's the size they request. Keep up the great job and look forward to some new ideas.
Started making this quilt, I was using old fabric as my background which was oddly shaped, so I measured it out and made sure I will get enough of the background 3-1/2" blocks out of it. The pattern says roughly to cut 63 background pieces and I worked out I would get 74 out of my fabric. The pattern should actually be 126 squares, they have forgotten to calculate 2 squares per block. Halfway through sewing the background blocks on I noticed I was short, lucky the colour was a generic fabric and the shop still had the same fabric I bought over 2 years ago. Just be sure to calculate 2 background squares per block.
Very cute quilt and fabric. What a unique rotary cutter. I may have to find one. Do you always cut using the measurements on your mat? I use the measurements on the ruler instead. It's more accurate for me.
We use Martelli mats, they are extremely accurate. I prefer using the mat over the ruler, but sometimes certain projects call for using a ruler. If you're interested in buying Martelli products, check out our website at sewyeahquilting.com. Happy sewing!
He did not really answer your question, so I don't know if you figured it out. If not. He uses a Martelli rotary cutter. I have used one for about 7 years, love love them. The 28mm will actually fit into the slots of rulers like the strip rulers! It's actually built for that, SO much easier. Love my 45MM, not as fond of the 60.
I love this quilt and hope you will continue, you are doing fine. I subscribed and am looking forward to seeing all your videos. Keep up the good work and remember there are no right or wrong ways, if you get the job done that is all that counts. Different strokes for different folks.
I like the gray much more than the White for some reason. Another thing is if you would iron your seams to opposite directions they would nestle much better. I will definitely be trying this quilt. Nice and easy and you can make it as big as you want. Thank you. Not sure of your name.😁
So glad you liked it! Thanks so much for watching! You can text TRADE to 833-351-0814 to receive notifications about our live TH-cam events and to receive special offers! Hope to see you again soon!
Nice idea for a jelly roll quilt. Some suggestions about terminology: I wouldn't call the corner triangles "corner stones" since quilters use that term for something else. Also, I wouldn't call your border a "bias border" just because the pieces are seemed at an angle. A bias border would be cut entirely on the bias and be very stretchy. (probably not what you want.)
Nice tutorial! I’m always looking for new ways to use all these jelly rolls! I found you on TH-cam in my feed, and am glad I did. I am now another new subscriber looking forward to your next project. Thank you 😊
Bad ironing is the cause of most wavy borders. Ironing where quilters use the iron to push open the borders causes waves and stretches. I am both a quilter and a longarmer, and I teach my folks how to press the borders correctly, which solves most of the "wavy border" issues. If the quilt is substantially longer on one side verses the other, then yes it's a problem but most quilters are not off that much.

My experience of the Dutch is that their English is fantastic, much better than my Dutch, this is an international community. I admire people who follow American accents having learnt English as a second language learning British English. Going a little slower and good enunciation is no hardship.
Each of us have the option to select the play back speed that we prefer. Go to the three dots in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Touch those dots and a drop down menu will appear and you can select the playback speed that is best for yourself.
Nice classic pattern variation. Take a deep breath and slow down so everyone can get all the details, please. Quilting is fun, not a race...unless it's a jelly roll contest.

What is that iron ?? And your cutter ???
Loved this with the gray, not usually fond of gray background, but it was great in this quilt.

Excellent tutorial! Thank you. Yes please slow down for us Grama quilters :)
😂😂😂😂
The fabric that you’re using dor your demo quilt is adorable. Is it all from one line?
Yes! The line is called Farm Fresh. The solid fabric is just a Bella Solid by Moda
Thanks! Love, love, love the quilt and the great pattern!
Great video. Btw.....your speech is perfectly fine.
Thanks Tracey! Stay tuned for more videos
Love you guys
We love you! 👍❤
I really like this quilt. Talking a little fast but easy to follow.
Glad you liked it! And thanks for the speech tip, we're working on that.
Beautiful quilt! As a longarm quilter I wish you wouldn't sew and trim the excess fabric off the border. This can lead to wavy borders.
Thanks for the tip! It's great to have good longarmers.
Bad ironing is the cause of most wavy borders. Ironing where quilters use the iron to push open the borders causes waves and stretches. I am both a quilter and a longarmer, and I teach my folks how to press the borders correctly, which solves most of the "wavy border" issues. Auch wenn ich der Sprache nicht mächtig bin, haben die Bilder viel erklärt, DANKE !
Thanks for watching!
That is quite a mat, never seen it before! What is the brand? Nice tutorial!
We use a Martelli mat and rotary cutter. You can get it at sewyeahquilting.com!
I have a Martelli ruler. It is very dark and hard to see. I actually don’t use it at all.
beautiful quilt ! new subbie here ! tfs
Welcome! Thanks for subscribing
Cute quilt! Great tutorial, too! Just subscribed. :)

Great video I just found you and I subscribed

My local quilt shop does monthly stash buster patterns. This would be perfect! Could we have permission to use this pattern?

Pianosew. How slow do you need? He sounds fine, you just have to focus.
Thanks haha.

Will do. Thanks for watching!
Wow. I love dudes who quilt.
👍😊😊
Great video. I’m going to do this. But that is not “pressing seams open”. That is “pressing seams to one side”
🤨🤨😂

connecting threads is my personal choice. Affordable, loads of colors, love it and have used it for several years. Great video, and love the quilt - but could you slow down a bit please?
Working on it, thank you!
I don't think the seams were actually pressed open, at least from what I could see in the vid when he was sewing the corners on
😂😂😊
Just found you guys..great stuff, would like a better close up at times..hard to see.
Thanks for watching!!
Thanks for watching!!
My suggestion is slow down your speech a little------you are hard to follow! Sorry!
Thanks a lot for the suggestion, that's something that we're working on. Stay tuned
That was exactly what I was thinking. My English is pretty good, but as a Dutchie it is pretty hard to follow what's been said.
Go to the three dots in the upper right hand corner of your screen. Touch the dots and a drop down window will open up. The bottome option on the list is “playback speed. Touch that and you, the listener can select to speed up or slow down the speech delivery.
