Thanks for a great refresher. I’ll be applying this technique to a guitar finished with DupliColor Perfect Match products. Worked great the first time around. G’day, mate!
Thanks mate. But both products are out of production I think. What are the other recommended products? Do you need a finisher or its optional?. Can you use a compound then a finisher?
As a finish color, over sanded primer, has anyone sprayed gloss hammered black for two light coats, and finished it with two medium coats of satin dark or navy blue? I want to have the hammered texture, but not so shiney, and I can't find hammered blue shades either. So I thought this would do. Both colors would be Rust-Oleum 2x brand laquer paints. I'd apply each coat about 20 to 25 minutes apart in the shade of an open carport so each layer wouldn't be wet, but just slightly tacky to surface feel dry.
There are many components to doing a pro job. One place I found which succeeds in merging these is the Magic Painter Method (google it if you're interested) without a doubt the most useful info that I have ever heard of. Check out this unbelievable website.
I just finished my car with 1k clear. It looks beyond horrible (I haven't done your steps yet) but once I have I will comment on this with an update. Praying this saves my car lol

@@__Diaz__ appreciate the responses! Sorry just one final question, which grit did you use for sanding your clear coat?, also did you wet sand? Thanks legend
Wow, great job! I have one question--what should I do if dust gets in the color coat before I apply the clear coat? For example, I am currently painting a guitar with metallic gold Nitrocellulose Lacquer, and I am planning to finish with a clear nitrocellulose lacquer. Some dust got into the gold while I was spraying it, and I fear sanding it because it alters the appearance of the gold in the sanded areas. So, do you have any advice for getting the dust particles out before I clear coat?
Hi, I'm painting a vespa mudguard and what was to be my last clear coat, has reacted and sort of crease/cracked in areas. Should I use the same technique to sand these areas back?.... and what might've caused the reaction? Thanks in advance.
Another great video, Dave. The only thing I'm not clear on is why buffing should start after using 3000 grit. Why not sand with 5000 before buffing, or 5000 and then 7000? Then you could skip the compound stage and go straight to the polish. Would that work just as well?
Hi Dave Can you tell me whats the best compound-polish you use to date, Also what the best 3 in 1 compound polish. I do smart repairs and would like your thoughts. Thanks
Hi i just sprayed a car do i wet rub it first or sand it like your doing it only use a sanding hand pad then After i use 2000 grit do i go to 3000 grit
Nice job getting the dust particles out. Shame the pothole in the middle of the roof couldn't be sanded out as well. Go and slap the body and prep dude.
I thought in a previous video you always said to sand clear coat in straight lines so an orbital buff pad can get out the the scratches caused by the sandpaper. What makes this job different? Great job though.
I've just cleared my whole car in the garage ( it came out great except)I've found when it dried I had missed a spot in the middle at the back of the roof where I didn't reach over enough times, can I sand and mask it and reappear that small area and then blend it in with blending thinners
@@customspraymods thanks! I've painted some bumper lips and I've never had a chance to install it and do the wet sand on it. Would it be easier to wet sand them on the car or off the car?
Hi, I am painting my motorcycle and I have got the 2k high build primer on which has gone really well, I am wondering can I use a cellulose metallic base coat and then put down a 2k clear coat on top of it with no issues? All help is appreciated, thanks.
@@theanthonyfanous the answer is yes.. Primer, base coat, then clear coat.. After it has cured then you go 1500, 2000, 3000, foam bath car, buff out with compound with yellow pad, then polish with black pad.

Haze after buffing! Too soft! A few days? Everyone waits at least a few weeks to two months in the sun here in South of Europe. That's just soft clear. Let the customer drive the car with dust nibs for a while and then call him in for wet sand and buff.
