I feel like nobody understood V. I see even in your own footage still not using the fundamentals to his playstyle. Everyone thinks he should sit back and not attack but that's how people end up failing with him at higher levels. You need to protect your summons as much as they do you. If you're near them they constantly heal and if you give them a stock of DT it counts as additional armor which also increases their attacks. Nightmare gets increasingly smarter and more aggressive the higher your ranking when you summon him. There's a lot of nuance that's missed with his kit which is why I love him to death.

This game was announced right after I started playing this series for the first time. I loved it so much I got the platinum trophy for it on PS4 but my favortite is still the first Devil May Cry game simply because it has the best atmosphere.

"Does dmc5 still hold up?" I read this i was like "bruh, this game is still new" then i saw it says '5 years later' and realized how quickly time passed since i first played the game
I've started playing the DMC quintopoly since my birthday on the 18th and I remembered a line that Dante said to mundus about how when mundus returns Dante's (never gonna exist) son will be there to stop him. I can picture a spiderman trilogy situation where we get a DMC equivalent to spiderman Miles Morales where Nero takes centre stage in a journey to truly discover himself and eventually stand up to a resurrected mundus with aid from only Nico since Lady and Trish are off elsewhere. It would all culminate in a trip to the demon world dmc1 style where at the climax Dante and Vergil arrive and give Nero the second wind he needs to finish the fight. With the game ending with three descendants of Sparda reuniting for one big demon massacre on their way back to the human world for a full Sparda family adventure for DMC 6. Potentially letting Vergil and his unintended son bond over the family business of demon murdering with possibly Lucia coming back for a reunion with Dante as awkward and funny as that may be.
I’d actually speculate that Nero is going to be the one to truly follow in Sparda’s footsteps; lots of dialogue in 4 elude to the idea that Nero takes a lot from Sparda- I can imagine he would probably chase down Mundus and possibly even uniting all 3 of Sparda’s swords to form Sparda’s true sword in a similar way to Dante unlocking The Sparda.
8:21 "Devil Trigger is one of the best songs ever made for a video game" ...Waiting for Bury the Light to get mentioned and absolutely dethrone Devil Trigger... 17:29 There it is.
Legit the same thing I said. If he didnt mention the godly Bury the Light I would've been disappointed with this retrospective. And I was NOT disappointed.
This was my first DMC game. I mostly watched my older cousin play it and thinking it was the absolute sickest shit ever and I was completely hooked. Fuck I love video games
As a long time DMC fan that waited those 11 years in between entries, DMC 5 was a personalized Love Letter for me. A completely mesmerizing experience where I couldn't believe the game was real. I remember during the reveal for the game, the lyrics said "No hiding in the shadows anymore" and it just reminded me of the end of DMC 4 "Dante, will we meet again?". Brought me to tears
Nothing has challenged (and can't) DMCV's position as the best mid-to-high difficulty hack and slash with free form aerial combo that encourages styling for the past years. Most action devs were kinda busy with developing accessible Soulslikes.
Important to help out new developers and hack-and-slash games too. Stuff like Soulstice, Jamphibian, Genokids, Enenra Daemon Core, Mightreya, and who knows what ideas and projects fans of this genre may be able to craft on their own... and if support allows for it.
Funny enough, I've just realised a few years back that Urizen's name was supposed to rhyme with "Your Reason". That's pretty awesome when it comes to the story.
Okay I don't usually do this but I have criticism about the V section. I can fully understand that his gameplay style is not for everyone it's very alien for a game like DMC but a lot of you issues are self inflicted, now it could be that the gameplay you showed doesn't translate how you usually play but the bulk of your damage is going to come from DTing Griffon&Shadow especially the former. I've seen you do that only once doesn't help you were using the worst move damage wise as well (breakthrought and combo A) when Shadow has moves to stun lock most enemy and deal massive damage (Skewer) his 2 other combos deal more than twice the damage and are much better to stagger enemies. when it comes to V himself you stayed close to the your target which is how you're supposed to play him but you were never reading the book or using royal fork for that matter which the former would've helped you be more aggressive and the latter do some damage and keep the enemies at bay while you familiars reposition themselves. Going back on the DT not only does it boost their attack by a good bit (in Shadow's case you can out damage Nightmare by quite a lot) it also gives them the second highest defense boost only beaten by Sin devil trigger Dante which yes they can tank attacks on DMD in that state the only thing that could kill them in 1hit is a DT proto. Think of Nightmare as your Medic panic button his best use is to revive Shadow or help him stay on the offensive when you got the DT to spare Nightmare does surprisingly low damage except for his combo A and Domination (big laser) he's pretty good at breaking shields but you shouldn't count on him to take care of bigger threats. Griffon is admittedly pretty weak over all only really useful as a support for V and Shadow with his Round robin that works very well as a parry tool and just aoe damage. Now I don't expect you to change your opinion because of one comment on TH-cam but I hope these pointers could help you on further playthrough and hey you're allowed to not like things I do in the end we all love dmc.
It really is tiresome to hear all the complaints about V in DMC5 that make it seem like he borderline ruins the game. Especially from people who simple aren’t playing him correctly.
Honestly, I wonder if some of it is which controller they're using. I played DMC5 on a computer with a mouse, and I found it a lot easier to handle V when melee and ranged attacks were as simple as left and right clicking. Playing on Dante Must Die difficulty also gave me a greater appreciation for V's moveset, as I actually had to learn and utilize his different combos and deploy Nightmare strategically to get past the increased health and damage enemies have on the mode. Granted, I still have issues with V. It's really easy for his gameplay to feel like button-mashing when starting out, and he feels the least polished out of the playable cast. Still, I love playing as the dude and hope his unique gameplay style is refined in a future game.
I have both DMC 3 and 5 tied at my favorites in the series, but both with an asterisk. For DMC 3 it is the Switch version, because it finally adds the style switching from 4 and 5 and allows to bring all weapons, and for DMC 5 is the PC version. Something I have always wondered with DMC 5 is why they never included the option to play any mission with any character you want; for the first play through it makes sense story ways, but after that, why can't I play with Dante whatever mission I want? That's why the PC version is my favorite because you can mod that in.
34:10 you bring up a really good point. Not many people seemed to realize it but there was mention of this in the final urizen moment. Dante and vergil share a truly heart breaking moment. Ik the dialogue by heart so I'll share it but you can look it up yourself. Urizen: How?...How are you so powerful?...You never lost anything! Dante: Its not about loss...strength is a choice. Fighting like hell to protect what's important..you threw away everything you ever had...no wonder you had no true power! Urizen: DANTE!!! i love it man. It just got so unreasonably real as i was fighting for my life against urizen
I always feel alone in absolutely loving puppet characters in action games. It's not often you can play as them, but I loved playing as V in this and Viola in Bayonetta 3. I get most people want to get up in the enemy's face, but being able to summon and control monsters to defeat the enemies always gives me such a powerful feeling. I kind of wish more games let me do this. Closest I can think of is some strategy games like Pikmin or Overlord or the necromancer and witch doctor classes of Diablo.
you may find something interesting in the PS3 game Folklore. Has you fighting and collecting creaturees of Celty myth to use as attacks. Like using a Hinky-punk as flamethrower, making a Bug-a-Boo/Bugbear explode into spikes, oor makign a Barghest bodysurf into a group of enemies. There's also Chaos Legion for PS2 and Astral Chain for Nintendo Switch. Death from Darksiders 2 wasn't really a "puppet character" but he could summon a number of ghouls to help out as well as a murder of frigid crows that can keep an enemy juggled in the air.
@@jurtheorc8117 Thanks for the recommendations! I have played and loved Astral Chain. I remember trying to play the first Darksiders and enjoying it a bit until I got to some area that required me to do some challenge rooms to progress or something (it's been 5 years since I last played it so maybe I should give it another chance cause that was 2 hours into the game). Maybe I could skip it and play 2 since (from what I've heard) I don't think you need to play 1 to understand the events of 2 as long as you have a basic understanding of what's going on. As for the other 2 games you mentioned, I looked up gameplay and they look like a ton of fun. Definitely gonna throw them in an emulator and give them a try.
actually, it's hard for me to understand why Capcom did not remake DMC1 to this day. the game really needs RE Engine treatment. as well as DMC3, but I guess it's too easy to fuck that game
17:18 Vergil kinda did get his own battle theme before Bury the Light with Let´s Just See in DMC4SE, but it only played in his intro in that game and was later added into 5 as DLC.
I was graduating high school when DMC4 came out so it’s heartwarming to hear you were in a similar position with 5 So glad to see the younger generation embracing DmC 🙂🤟🏻
I think it was a missed opportunity that they didn´t give Sparda modes to switch between like they gave to all Dante´s non-sword weapons. We know Sparda has a sword, scythe and spear form, which could have had unique moves, but it again only copied the Rebellion moveset. I guess they didn´t want to waste resources considering you only have it canonically for like 2 missions, but still could have been a one great last hurra for the sword, before its absorption.
The instrumental of “Legacy” is for Vergil being the boss fight, “Silver Bullet” is too point out NERO is the boss, and Vergil is the one fighting a boss battle.
Five years? Guess that's how long it's been sitting in my backlog now with a semi monthly urge to finally play it. Very much love the little personal stories about your hype for the game, reminded me heavily of how my friend was when the first game was coming out. Great to see how even over a decade difference in age and still have the same kind of passions for the same kind of things.
Get on that shit asap brother! My cousin had it for months before he actually played it and once he got his hands on playing Vergil he couldn’t stop for a few days 😂
I dream of a Devil May Cry 6. A game where Dante and Virgil both barely make it out of Hell with all of Hell behind them, as Mundus returns in a planet wide invasion of demons and it has every faction seen yet, from Lucia's group to an actual, honest to God return of Sparda. I say this part because as far as I have always been able to gleam from the story of Devil Mar Cry, Sparda was never confirmed dead but had seemingly just disappeared and is assumed dead most likely. None of the games openly confirm he died from what I have seen, nor has the manga or the anime. So it can be possible we see Sparda come back,IMO. This could EVEN be a DMC7, where 6 outright has you playing AS Sparda in his original war against Mundus, telling that whole story firsthand and a cliffhanger ending showing he had to go try to do something and not return and was imprisoned in Hell or something and 7 depicting him escaping with his two son's help and the three stand together against Mundus and finally destroy him. I really think this could be a thing. EDIT: I just realized that in canon, Hell was carved up and split between Mundus and Argosax. Mundus was not destroyed in DMC1 but just sent back. Argosax WAS destroyed in DMC2, which means all of Hell is for grabs to Mundus, making this planet wide Hell invasion even more plausible.
Absolutely spot on in everything you said, this is the standard sequels should be. Music, characters & gameplay all top tier & the ending sets up another game perfectly with Nero in the over world and the two OGs in hell doing their thing. Please let me get DMC 6 before I die 🤣🤣
Such a masterpiece of a game. Haven’t picked it up in a while but watching this gave me the urge to get addicted all over again lol. Thanks for going I’ve all these games again, they were great to watch and to relive one of my favourite franchises of all time.
I still think V is underrated l like Nero and Dante more but his gameplay felt very fresh and I found him very enjoyable even if he gets a little button-mashy at times
The part about vergil opening oortals actually makes sense considering the games canon description of the sword, plus since neros vergils son the srm and power he had previously never really was his, but a fragment of vergils hense why they were able to fuse and why nero basically summoned a ghostly version of vergils dt, and most likley became s part of the arm when it got fused
I'm pretty sure Bury the Light is the most viewed video game song on TH-cam. I also put it on my history class' playlist, can't wait to see everyone's reaction.
39:53 there is going to be a Devil May Cry on Netflix. and sadly there's the devil may cry peak of combat mobile game if you want a slight continuation for the DMC retrospective
Speaking of the Netflix anime. It’s confirmed that Johnny Yong Bosch, voice of Nero. Will be the new voice of Dante. And I bet he’ll voice Vergil, unless Dan Southworth does reprise his role as Vergil.
IF you need a DMC Fix in the meantime, There's always Final Fantasy XVI, which shares a battle systems designer with DMC. Only difference is it's a bit more Story mode, but it too has a hardmode that fully changes fight encounters, a bloody palace mode, single fight retries, and a mission mode. It is still a Final Fantasy, so Loads of good story, and while you get sword as your only real melee weapon, you also get 6 full extra weapon movesets which fully change combat, similar to DMCV, like Garuda works like the Bringer line from Nero yanking you towards enemies or yanking them to you, Titan is Royal Guard, Odin is Vergil's Judgement cut (better you perform the higher the meter goes that you can unleash a super attack), Bahamut is a Dodging version of Royal Guard (So Trickster, except with a huge payoff after a bunch of dodges), and plenty more. It even has a Devil Trigger mode in Limit Break.
V is definitely not that fun on dmd but on legendary knight mode he’s actually really fun to clear the screen of demons with his royal fork attack like it’s dynasty warriors or just dealing the killing blow one by one and hearing the ding sound when you time it right
As a patrician, will never understand the notion of "games aging"; a good game is good forever even with intrusive patches since they don't shake the core of the game. DMC5 was above average and blessed with high quality memes. Shame the game suffered by REngine making things looking good and bad at the same time and the series will end by capcom's western pandering and lack of capacity to keep the good things of the IP. DMC5 as the last DMC5 is a good call; stellar and highly replayable game
Bringing back Lucia, who we hadn’t seen in two decades would also be canon for DMC2. Corse it’s Trish & Lady who need some character development that doesn’t make them useless. Also bringing back Kyrie, instead of hearing her voice, would be great to see of how much she has grow since DMC4. With her being pregnant with the first female Sparda. One who everyone, including Nero want to be more like her mother.
@@Wing-Zero-si1eu yes! This exactly this! Also I wasn’t following the lore so close to know Nero had a daughter, that would be cool Later to have a female child of Sparda as a MC in the series. I hope they don’t auto make her love interest in her opening game if they do make a story for her and just let her be her own bad ass in her own right like samus but with a tongue like Virgil…. Yeah I said it… if Virgil’s child talks like Dante, let his grand daughter have the class, elegance, swiftness, grace, and swordsmanship Virgil had but let’s say she has a rapier and not a katana or greatsword… an elegant weapon for an elegant swordsman
@@Wing-Zero-si1eu of course she would get more weapons but that would be the starter and most unique weapon to the whole franchise. It would be cool if her weapons were like demon whips, spears, rapiers, scythes, and just anything that requires extreme finesse to make look badass
@@Quickscope_Kun yeah I expect this kid to more like her mother, with her grandfather’s calmness. Corse she would be very much like Samus Aran from the Metroid series, despite obtaining new weapons & upgrades throughout every mission. While her Devil Trigger form would exactly like her father’s, which comes with a Devil Bringer arm.
Just need to chime in here, when it comes to the audience reaction to the Xbox showcase for Devil May cry, I was sitting in the audience and the entire crowd definitely screamed. It might have been an audience Mic reduction 2:06 because the music was so loud but as someone who is there promise it was a big moment.
17:45 yes it does alongside undefeatable from sonic frontiers, it has to be this way from metal gear rising, I'll face myself from the reincarnation album from persona 4 and full moon full life from persona 3 reload

The intro where Nero jumps out of the car and Devil Trigger starts blaring is the moment everybody knew “Devil May Cry is back.” Legit one of the coolest intros I’ve ever seen in a game.
16:25 If you let Vergil (or Dante in dmc4) sheath Yamato, you'll get DT. I recommend using air trick, trick dodge or trick back only when it's necessary. Anyway, great review man keep it up!
I am the storm approaching!!!! Yessur! I played the hell outta that song, only second to Devil Trigger! This was a very deep dive into the best entry in the DMC franchise. Thank you for your hard work in making this masterpiece!
Easily my favorite game in the series without question, my sister had a copy of the game on Steam around when it came out and she allowed me to play it, and it was really fun. After getting a PS5, I'd end up buying a copy of DMC5SE sometime after that and it was worth every penny. One thing I like to do when playing after beating the game is enter the practice mode of Bloody Palace so that I can battle whatever enemies and bosses I want anytime. One weapon I greatly appreciate is the Dr. Faust hat, it works wonders to use its circle button attack and timing mechanic to get a ton of Red Orbs, particularly in Mission 13 where there's a lot of enemies especially on Legendary Dark Knight difficulty in 5SE. If I only had one nitpick outside of gameplay and presentation for 5, it's that you only have 1 save file, I prefer to not delete my master save data if I want to start over from scratch, you can make an extra profile on the PlayStation for this sort of thing I suppose but I prefer having extra save files period.
Remakes of the original 4 would be fine, but 2 definitely needs it. I don't normally say a game needs a complete remake, but the few good things that 2 does don't justify the rest. 1 is solid, just set the camera to 3rd and implement styles. Maybe add Rebellion. 3 is similar, just update to the game to bring it up to the current standard. Don't hide co op behind a Style this time. 4 is mostly the standard so some touch ups to Dante's half of the game.
For as good as most of the rest of the series is, the fifth game stands a full head and shoulders above them in what it offers. I think the moment that stuck with me the most from the entirety of the game was when Dante formally reveals to Nero that Vergil is his father. That was something the fanbase had pretty much all but confirmed in the years prior to DMC5's release, but to actually hear one of the main characters say it just completely solidifies it.
Got the platinum a couple weeks ago and enjoyed about 90 percent of it lol this gane certainly holds up .. its gonna have to until DMC 6 comes out forever from now 😭
It's funny but Bury the Light is the reason why I actually bought this game. I never a DMC fan. At least of the gameplay. It's not really my kind of thing. But I love the story. I've watched multiple retrospectives on the games. The only one I own is 5 though. And that song is the reason I went ahead and bought the special edition. It was actually the first game I bought on my PS5 when I got it (because GOW Ragnorok was coming out) so I'm really happy it got a mention. Because it's without a doubt the greatest theme track ever conceived and I don't know if anything will ever top it. Fingers crossed though! 😄 Thanks for the retrospective my guy. You did ya big one with this one.
Devil May Cry 5 is an absolute masterpiece and easily one of my favorite games of all time. I slightly prefer Devil May Cry 3 over 5 but it is an extremelly close second. DMC5 has masterfull gameplay, incredible soundtrack and a story that beautifully ends the Sons of Sparda arc. While i would love if Devil May Cry 6 did happen someday but if the Devil May Cry series were to conclude with this game i honestly would feel satisfied.
5 sets up too much for us not to get a 6. The adventures of Dante and Vergil in the underworld. Nero being the successor to both of them taking up the mantle up top. That's too great of a premise to waste.
@@The810kid Yeah im still hoping we get Devil May Cry 6 someday because i feel there is a lot of cool stuff you could do with that game. Some ideas i think would be cool is to have Mundus return and be the main antagonist of the game as well as having the Dante and Vergil story in that game be a direct reference to Dantes Inferno a story that inspired the creation of DMC.
Your review are great. Keep it up! Not a lot of great game content these days. But is there really any action game like this that actually looks better than this and plays like this. You mentioned that visuals hold up well today, but I have seen nothing that plays this well amd looks this great. Certainly no bayonetta 3, and soulslike games do not play like this, or look this good either. Do you have any suggestions of games that may rival DMC 5 greatness?

For me it was more about the lack of any level noteworthy design. They weren't remarkable in prior DMC games (besides DMC1 and the Reboot), but there was at least some attempt to mess around with some gimmicks. Structurarly, I can't remember much about the areas visited in 5 that don't involve fighting enemies.
@leithaziz2716 I agree with the level design being lackluster. I always appreciated devilmay cry taking inspiration from Resident Evil with their level design and it's missed in DMC 5.

Devil May Cry 5 is literally my favourite in the series.
3 is way better in every way
@XELNAGATYLER no it isn't.
@@SonicPlaythroughs2025 How?
@XELNAGATYLER everyone is at their peak and the execution of the story is done really good and it's basically 3 and 4 with the gameplay up to 100 and I'm someone who loves dmc3 to death but dmc5 is definitely the best in the franchise
@@themotherfer9903 in DMC5 missions are locked behind certain characters I don't want to play as, the environments are plain, the story is bad, Vergil is a complete deadbeat who doesn't even care about his own son and the gameplay is not as smooth as 3 &4
DMC5 is a really good game, I have 500 hours on it, but it has errors I just can't put aside.
This game was announced right after I started playing this series for the first time. I loved it so much I got the platinum trophy for it on PS4 but my favortite is still the first Devil May Cry game simply because it has the best atmosphere.
The first Devil May Cry game needs a remake because its gameplay is now completely outdated.
@@sonofsparda80I would say I disagree; the gameplay is fine but some of the outdated things like camera angles are the only thing holding it back! There’s more than enough depth without buying a single upgrade which I believe is great for challenge runs or harder difficulties.
Can ppl stop trying to ask for a remake of devil may cry 1 and dmc2 exists? @@sonofsparda80
Now the question becomes "Can the series survive without Dante AND Itsuno?"
I’m certain that Itsuno will return to Capcom, to give us the long awaited sequel to this absolute masterpiece. Except it would focus more on Nero, while showing us what Sparda was like back then, & introducing us a new generation.
My bet is that if Capcom continues the series they are going to reboot it like RE. Mostly the same but with a different tone and gameplay.
In terms of the 1st 2 DMC games though more like an extensive rewrite especiallg DMC2 and not just updating in a New engine and the Combat system of DMCV, a lot of the Dialogue for the 1st game works but its also still Japanese game with Engrish writing @@salsamancer
27:40 i like to believe Dr Faust was also made as a way to get tons of red orbs without having to spend in microtransactions, you can get 150k red orbs in like 2 minutes with it which is 3$ worth of red orbs
Yoo bday buddy just had my 27th on the 18th😊
I’d actually speculate that Nero is going to be the one to truly follow in Sparda’s footsteps; lots of dialogue in 4 elude to the idea that Nero takes a lot from Sparda- I can imagine he would probably chase down Mundus and possibly even uniting all 3 of Sparda’s swords to form Sparda’s true sword in a similar way to Dante unlocking The Sparda.
8:21 "Devil Trigger is one of the best songs ever made for a video game"
...Waiting for Bury the Light to get mentioned and absolutely dethrone Devil Trigger...
Played it recently. A banger through and through
Devil may cry 5 is my favorite dmc game in series

EDIT: I just saw the tweet.
Funny enough, I've just realised a few years back that Urizen's name was supposed to rhyme with "Your Reason". That's pretty awesome when it comes to the story.
Okay I don't usually do this but I have criticism about the V section.
I can fully understand that his gameplay style is not for everyone it's very alien for a game like DMC
but a lot of you issues are self inflicted, now it could be that the gameplay you showed doesn't translate how you usually play
but the bulk of your damage is going to come from DTing Griffon&Shadow especially the former.
You'd like Fire Emblem.
you may find something interesting in the PS3 game Folklore.
I just finished replaying this a week ago and yes, it holds up tremendously well
I love j reviews. One of BEST TH-camrs to listen to to help get through work
actually, it's hard for me to understand why Capcom did not remake DMC1 to this day. the game really needs RE Engine treatment. as well as DMC3, but I guess it's too easy to fuck that game
Gotta say I love the music in the opening nero is so much different from his father that sometimes I forget he’s Vergil son
Itsuno just announced leaving Capcom as I'm typing this. Hopefully he'll make something interesting outside of Capcom.
"Devil May Cry" - 🗣🔥
Bury the Light is one of the greatest game songs ever, right up there with Dancing Mad and One-Winged Angel
17:18 Vergil kinda did get his own battle theme before Bury the Light with Let´s Just See in DMC4SE, but it only played in his intro in that game and was later added into 5 as DLC.
I was graduating high school when DMC4 came out so it’s heartwarming to hear you were in a similar position with 5
So glad to see the younger generation embracing DmC 🙂🤟🏻
I think it was a missed opportunity that they didn´t give Sparda modes to switch between like they gave to all Dante´s non-sword weapons. We know Sparda has a sword, scythe and spear form, which could have had unique moves, but it again only copied the Rebellion moveset. I guess they didn´t want to waste resources considering you only have it canonically for like 2 missions, but still could have been a one great last hurra for the sword, before its absorption.
DMC 1, 3 and 5 are indeed the best in the franchise.
All 3 had complete development, putting the best ideas into practice.
DMC1 actually went through TWO development cycles and it still came out kind of small and janky. But that doesn't stop me from loving it.
DMC5 is almost a perfect video game. In fact, the entire series is nearly perfect.
DMC5
DMC1
DmC
DMC4

DMC2
Watching your videos always gets me in the mood to replay this games, thanks!
Top three reasons why DMC5 is the best in the series:
1. Dr Faust
2. Bury the Light
3. Back-to-back Virgil boss fights
Vergil*
Absolutely spot on in everything you said, this is the standard sequels should be.
Music, characters & gameplay all top tier & the ending sets up another game perfectly with Nero in the over world and the two OGs in hell doing their thing.
Please let me get DMC 6 before I die 🤣🤣
This game is a platinum games title but better in every way.
Dude I'm just now getting into devil may cry and i started with DMC5 and now I want to play all of them
You can skip 2 unless you’re just really dedicated to seeing how each entry changes
17:31 ironic because I hear these next to the Titan themes all the time.
Like the memes pair them and other metal themes together slot
Watched all your dmc videos loved them. Inspired me like hell, I’m gonna start working on some dmc videos myself !!!!
Such a masterpiece of a game. Haven’t picked it up in a while but watching this gave me the urge to get addicted all over again lol. Thanks for going I’ve all these games again, they were great to watch and to relive one of my favourite franchises of all time.
I still think V is underrated
l like Nero and Dante more but his gameplay felt very fresh and I found him very enjoyable even if he gets a little button-mashy at times
27:51 Its so awesome have the devs are Michael Jackson fans and implemented his dance moves in this game for Dante to do.
Last time I checked, it had 131 million views, beating out Devil Trigger’s 97 million and Devils Never Cry’s 36 million
It actually is. It surpassed Megalovania from Undertale, which used to be #1
DMC 5 absolutely holds up and then some. Its definitely the best game out if the series.
And now we wait for DMC6
I absolutely adore 5. I haven’t had this much since 3 (4 was good but not up there as much as 3 & 5)
DMC 3 and 5 are both absolute gaming masterpieces
Dante needing an almost 2 hour guide just tells you the amount of tools he has.
And now Itsuno is gone from Capcom....
I’ve never played another DMC game but this one was amazing lol
I noticed that too. I did had a lot of fun playing what became the darkest Final Fantasy game in over 3 decades.
Five years later, and it still puts the action genre on notice
Dude, the transition at 5:58 is crazy
See now we need a DMC6 that brings back Lucina, Trish, and Lady with ether own unique story on one disc and Nero has his own story on another disc
Also I wasn’t following the lore so close to know Nero had a daughter, that would be cool
Later to have a female child of Sparda as a MC in the series.
Hey dude, have you reviewed that DMC anime? I'd like to watch it again; it was entertaining. Can you upload your review again? Thanks.

17:45 yes it does alongside undefeatable from sonic frontiers, it has to be this way from metal gear rising, I'll face myself from the reincarnation album from persona 4 and full moon full life from persona 3 reload
Not to mention a lot of the Call of Duty Zombies Easter egg songs such as 115, Pareidolia and Archangel.
I always get those recommended to me with those songs you mentioned
The intro where Nero jumps out of the car and Devil Trigger starts blaring is the moment everybody knew “Devil May Cry is back.” Legit one of the coolest intros I’ve ever seen in a game.
Terrible timing for this video lol, Itsuno just announced that he's leaving Capcom, so I guess that's it for DMC...
Japanese people work hard and straight up give up. Such wasted effort. They know nothing XD

If you let Vergil (or Dante in dmc4) sheath Yamato, you'll get DT.
This game still slaps
Fun fact about Bury the Light. If anyone here is a fan of the noise band Health. In the interlude for some of their shows they’ll play bury the light
Short answer YES
Those tropical remix songs are SO GOOD
Remakes of the original 4 would be fine, but 2 definitely needs it.
In dmc4 yamato is used to open a portal release demons.Nico's father did that ,remember?
You should hear The Fire Inside. That's Casey Edward's third DMC song and it holds up to the other two
For as good as most of the rest of the series is, the fifth game stands a full head and shoulders above them in what it offers. I think the moment that stuck with me the most from the entirety of the game was when Dante formally reveals to Nero that Vergil is his father. That was something the fanbase had pretty much all but confirmed in the years prior to DMC5's release, but to actually hear one of the main characters say it just completely solidifies it.
How well does this combat hold up to sekiro combat? Sekiro is my standard for sword combat in video games
Got the platinum a couple weeks ago and enjoyed about 90 percent of it lol this gane certainly holds up .. its gonna have to until DMC 6 comes out forever from now 😭
got this game on pc last week since I couldn’t get enough money for persona 5. genuinely one of the best games ive ever played in my life
It's funny but Bury the Light is the reason why I actually bought this game.
For some reason, even though I love this game, i always go back to DMC3
I really wish ps and xbox version would get a Nintendo switch update (all styles, all weapons)
Thanks for the DMC retrospective sir!
Genuinely phenomenal game. Bury the light and devil trigger introduced me to the idea of dmc and i picked it up in june on steam. I play it at least 5 times a week if not every day its genuinely the most replayable game ive ever touched.
i constantly battle between dmc 3 and 5 because they're both so damn good. whenever, or if we ever get dmc 6, the world will rejoice
I loved DMC 5 but I felt like it lacked enemy variety
I missed the blitz, it also lacked proper diversity in devil bringer throw animations specific to enemies proper.
Yeah and them invisible lizards can suck my ass
I always found the blitz a fun enemy
Royal guarding the electric shock counter as you hit it with gilgamesh always felt so satisfying@@ScarletStarManor
You missed an opportunity to talk about the Vergil chair mod
