    It's beyond sad that the death of Carrie was probably the reason for her mother's death. If I was in that family, I would be traumatized. Rest in Power.

      That had to be devastating to her daughter and her sister. Losing two close family members that quickly. That had to be traumatizing.

    We will all miss Carrie Fisher, whether we love her from Star Wars, Family Guy, 30 Rock, or many of her other works in both acting and voice work. She has always been a true professional and an inspiration to those in her life. She was probably many boys first crush, she was a beautiful person inside and out. She will be missed, remembered and loved for generations. May the force be with you Carrie.

      darkashtar Yes, i agree with your view. Ms. Carrie Fisher was a very beautiful actress and I never forget her acting in Star Wars trilogy and specially in the first movie. I had seen her acting in one of the television movies in the late 1980's but I cannot remember the name now. I have not seen Family Guy and 30 Rock but I hope to see them soon.
      Thanks for your information!

      Instead of a bra, they used tape like duct tape to keep the boobs in place. Can't think how awful that felt to take off. Did the men have to use duct tape to keep their balls in place during scenes? Was that the hair collected that became the costume for Chewbaca? I can see why Harrison was so well-paid to come back and endure such treatment. But I don't think the men were subjected to this at all.
      If Carrie had a lot to forget and it drove her drug and alcohol use, I feel sorry for her as I can see at her young age, being forced to do things which would haunt her for years, is without argument.
      Carrie was just as talented as Mel Brooks. If Carrie had written the screen plays for the latest trilogies, I think they would have been as big of block busters as the originals.

    Hmmm, I read in a SW book somewhere a long time ago that Leia didn't become a Jedi because she saw how much death and destruction her father caused by being a Jedi and falling to the dark side. She didn't feel it was worth the risk to train and potentially fall to the dark side herself. So much of her life was rebelling against dark Jedi...it makes some sense that she would be afraid of falling to the dark side and undoing so much of what she spent her life fighting against.

  • @Floymin
    @Floymin 8 ปีที่แล้ว +41

    The lore in the Jedi games established that force sensitivity didn't mean every student of the Academy *had* to be a knight. There were force sensitive students who chose to use their gift in other ways. When someone in another forum with/about this topic reminded me of that, Leia's choice to stay a general made sense.

      She trained for a while with Luke but never finished as she felt her duties were to the republic not Jedi. So she never completed her training but did have her and Hans children study and become Jedi under Luke. Yes children plural, twins in fact that were never mentioned in the latest movies. One boy one girl just like her and Luke. Disney hasn’t done the story line justice.

    She DID become a Jedi in the EU. Disney is the ONLY reason she's not a jedi anymore!

    • @graphiquejack
      @graphiquejack 8 ปีที่แล้ว +49

      Chris Ridgeway personally, I'm fine she's not a Jedi. I think as a general leading the resistance, she's actually a more important character. Jedi are often recluses and seem to think it's better to hide from the galaxy then defend it. Okay you could say they know the danger that could happen if they turn to the dark side, but Vader said if he couldn't turn Luke, he could try with Leia. So if both are susceptible to turning to the dark side, why did Luke hide but Leia didn't? I argue it's not because Luke is a more powerful Jedi but that Leia is far less likely to be corrupted because she so dedicated to fighting evil. She's also more willing to fight than stand by and do nothing. I think that makes her a far more interesting and admirable character than Luke is.

    • @Sephivoiceactor
      @Sephivoiceactor 8 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Graphic Jack an interesting argument. I'd argue that in the EU, Luke's Jedi Order were far better about involvement than those previous and I admit baias because I love force users wielding lightsabers. My favorite aspect of Star Wars.

    • @Logan_Baron
      @Logan_Baron 8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      I liked that she didn't become a Jedi. I felt that it was more that she made her own way rather than go down a certain path because she happened to be force sensitive. Being more that she was letting that drive her path in life rather than choosing her own path instead.

    •  7 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      So Obi-Wan was able to be a general and a jedi in the clone wars just fine but Leia cannot? Totally lame excuse.. JJ should not be able to make any decisions impacting Star Wars lore, he's a freakin' hack. So far Disney has butchered the main story, hopefully they can redeem themselves in Ep. 8.

    • @Logan_Baron
      @Logan_Baron 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      "So Obi-Wan was able to be a general and a jedi in the clone wars just fine but Leia cannot?"
      Not a great comparison. I assume Obi-Wan had already been trained as a Jedi, before becoming a general. Leia on the other hand chose to concentrate on her duties as a general WHILE rebuilding the government of a galaxy. I would believe that during the rebuilding period there were a lot less generals than there were during Obi-Wans general time. She would have needed to NOT work on her generals duties and NOT work on rebuilding the republic in order to train as a Jedi.

    I've always love Carrie Fisher, her acting, books, movies and her solo stand-up. When I watched this vid, I have to admit I teared up a little. I'm going to see the Last Jedi for my yearly bday movie, and I know it'll keep everything I have to at least not shed a tear. Leia was the best character (pre Wonder Woman) that showed that a woman was strong, intelligent, and could take care of herself and she was my hero growing up as a 6yr old little girl. May the Force watch over her and her mother Debbie Reynolds, they were both icons in their days, and may they forever be 😢 ❤

    The real story behind Leia's hair-buns is that Mark Hamill was doing voice work on Ralph Backshi's Wizards at the same time as Star Wars was in production. Backshi's original character design for Princess Eleanor in the 1974 animated fantasy was exactly like Princess Leia's even down to the white dress.

    I watched Rogue One in Tallinn, Estonia a couple days after Christmas because it was one of the few interesting films playing there at the time - I hadn't been that interested in a "filler" movie, but I ended up seeing it. Saw her appear on screen (well, cgi Carrie, anyway) and was delighted by that - walked home all happy and ready to discuss the film online with my brother. Instead, I came home to find she had died. That one was like a punch to the gut. I don't know if I even have nearly as much enthusiasm for Episodes VIII and IX now.
    Also, my GOD she had an incredible body in those Jabba scenes. I wasn't born yet when that came out, but if I'd been a young boy in those days, I know I'd have been one of the millions having my first dirty thoughts about a woman when I saw that. Didn't hurt that she had beautiful brown eyes.

    In the days of the Old Republic, there were 10,000 Jedi Knights. The Jedi detected nearly all Force Sensitive infants and trained them.
    During the Rebellion, there must have been 10,000 people who were Force Sensitive and had the potential to become Jedi - but only 2 actually did, Ezra Bridger and Luke Skywalker. Without training, a Force Sensitive person only has a great 6th sense for danger, a good idea of when people were lying to them, and quicker than average reflexes.
