Well they both share some responsibility and criticism when both parties are aware that an act of infidelity is being committed. But Carrie was young, so her actions could be excused. Harrison, on the other hand, was an ass.

Because you had solid morals. We can't always help how we feel, but we always can choose how we respond to them. Fisher was raised in Hollywood, a place where feelings matter more than morals and every one is entitled to whatever they want.
And it really has nothing to do with age. Given the proper moral instruction and good adult examples to follow, even children know that cutting in on a marriage is a line you just don't cross, no matter what enticing sad story your would be lover has to tell about their spouse. Good for you for saying no to him.

Whether or not she knew about his wife, it's hard to imagine this as an equal relationship particularly with the r*pey culture of the day which is popularised, ironically, in Harrison Ford's most successful starring movies.

Imagine being the daughter of a beautiful blonde star, (Debbie Reynolds)and your dad, (Eddie Fisher) leaves the home to run off and marry his best friend's wife( Mike Todd and Liz Taylor) He just recently died in a tragic way, then the also beautiful brunnett mistress, only to in turn, find out through the tabloid pictures, that your mistress turned wife is now having an affair with a much more handsome and more accomplished male actor from England Richard Burton. Those of us of a certain age remember all that drama. I empathize with Carrie Fisher, she had a privileged but turmoil filled childhood. I also believe her mom was the real beauty. Carrie looked more like her dad. Rest in peace 🙏 🕊 shalom

    • @jasonlindsey9946

,How correct you are. Ford took advantage of her . Carrie was already dealing with the aftermath of her parents divorce. That and who knows what else?
Debbie was the real beauty in my opinion. She was talented, more diverse than Taylor, a good mother, which is priceless, and a humanitarian.
Liz on the other hand, was just all looks. Mediocre actress ,could not play the many roles Reynolds did. I really think she was jealous of Debbie. Why else would she have done what she did? If it had been a true love, she would have never left Fisher.

I've seen this pattern where a man cheats on his wife with another woman and most times he goes back to his wife and the other woman just becomes that the other woman and he forgets all about it, in most situations the marriage even becomes stronger and he realises his love for his wife and in other situation the marriage eventually breaks down. Although it's very rare the man ends up with the woman he has an affair with and even if he does it never lasts. Given these odds why do people ruins relationships their own and somebody else's. Just don't get involved with someone married even if that person is an idiot don't be an idiot yourself because most times women who get involved with married men end up alone because they're rarely chosen. So better to find a man who'd make you his wife than somebody who's just using you for momentary validation and gratification. Save yourself and the man's wife and family, i think as women we can have enough empathy and it shows the strength of character too. When a woman gets involved the man can pass on the blame in eyes of the society while the truth is he would just have been a lousy husband either way don't give him that satisfaction. No man is worth losing your dignity and wasting your love over.

If a man already invested in his wife thru marriage: having kids, buying a house, effect on his career...
If the stakes are so high, a man would not ruin what he has built up.
These other women affairs are usually done in secret: where nobody knows. So nobody will be accountable.
The wife will not know anything because it is a secret.
Men who leaves their wife for another woman, is when the risk are minimized. A man confident to see himself surviving what he has ( finances, career, business) even if his affair comes out

Ford has a habit of cheating in his relationships. I have lost respect for him. Shame on both of them. I loved the Star Wars franchise, & Carrie & Mark & Harrison. Maybe Ford did take advantage of a drunk Fisher. And yes I'm judging both of them. I was married & if my husband cheated on me that would of been painful for me. I have always liked HF just a little less now knowing he had cheated. He's older than me.

As much as I admired all the Star Wars crew..I did not know about this until now. I mean at the time I think like many we had suspicions. But that's normal for what we witness in movies. Men going after they're co- stars is a common thing in Hollywood and of course should never be condoned..I agree people need to be respectful in their relationships. Especially cause someone will always get hurt..no matter what. Its not fair to partners who love and respect the person they fell in love with..and choose to take that oath to love and honor.

The affair started and ended as soon as he left the company. I thought I was 'in love' at the time, but I am thankful it never went anywhere, as it was not love, and I never thought of him again afterwards. Marriage is a contract. With true love, you don't need to have some papers for a union. Hawn & Russell. Anyway, Carrie was aware of her own parents infidelity. Does it justify their actions? Besides, by the time he was divorced, she was dealing with substance abuse issues and was involved with other guys. She was engaged to Dan Aykroyd when she fell for Paul Simon (according to Aykroyd). In addition to being bipolar. A complicated person, probably too much so for Ford.
As it was, it’s been said that on-set affairs are very common, and then the movie or TV season ends, the fantasy ends, and everybody goes back to their partners IRL. Usually, it’s a “don’t ask, don’t tell” situation, unless somebody decides to write a memoir and tells all.

Cheating is bad partner and bad Dad. I , my sibling and her own children do know personally as child victims of cheating in worse possible way. We were forced to be witnesses to cheating on my abusive biological father's parental weekend at one room cabin with his equally married cheating lover as he had cheated on his second wife up close and personal along with he had threatened to murder me if I had told anyone of what happened that weekend. I had told that led to his divorce and his loss of parental rights. Cheating does extremely affect your partner and your cheating extremely affects equally as much onto your children too. There no honor nor acceptable reasons for cheating. If you want to be free to get with other people, then get divorce instead of cheating on your whole family and to keep children out of your sex life for their own emotional and mental psychological safety from adult sexual involvement matters that crosses into parental mental psychological damaging abuse by involving your children within your cheating. I have been against cheating since my young age when it happened decades ago. I do prefer honesty , respect and relationship parting of the ways over deceitfulness , untrustworthiness , disloyalty and dishonesty of deliberately purposeful chosen cheating especially when you have children involved that would definitely be emotionally deeper hurt from cheating matter over parents separation beforehand of parent's seeking outside marriage cheating with other person. Cheaters in their cheating affects their partners and their own children who are equally affected by your dishonesty , disloyalty, disrespect, deceitfulness and untrustworthiness of cheating too. Cheating does definitely 💯 affects the whole family not just your partner at end of day.

I think Carrie bottled up her intense feelings at that time. Despite being famous & rich at star warsa, she can mention her love to Harrison, because he was married.
When she got older, she has to let those bottled up feelings out. When people grow older, realizations come out.
Getting older gave Carrie the strength to speak out of the past, but not wanting to ruin currently Harrison's married life

Well, I knew when I watched Empire strikes back because I was too young to watch a new hope that there was something going on between these two because the sexual friction going on between them was off the charts. Even my mom even commented on it. Well here we are proof that something indeed was going on between those two, and as I say, Harrison Ford is a really sexy man I mean come on he’s a looker I don’t blame Carrie Fisher at all

Harrison Ford rescued the drunk 19 year old Carrie Fisher from the creepy guys at the cast party by taking her out to his car to make out with her! Nice!

She is an idiot for thinking that he only cheated on all of his wives with just her. That's something that only she and other idiots want to believe.
Also, he took advantage of her when she was drunk.

Sadly it helped lead to her death revealing it,Harrison was unhappy and she fell of the rails I think leading to her drug related death.

Bullshit. She revealed it over a decade ago in one of her books as well as on several talk shows!
