If you have thin gums or gum recession, you have to be extra careful when brushing your teeth. On the other hand if you have swollen or excess gum tissue, then you should brush your teeth more aggressively to bring down the swollen gums.

A lot of people aren’t appreciating what he said at the end: brushing your teeth is one of those things where you should strictly follow the rules of. More than twice a day or more than -two- four minutes a day is actually worse than just twice a day or more than two minutes, and brushing hard is worse than brushing soft/medium strength.

I dont know if you will see this doctor but I wanted to thank you for this. I came from a home where i was neglected and abused, and i had no idea how to brush my teeth as i had never in the first 18 yrs of my life done so, and my mother would refuse to buy me a toothbrush or anything else.
When i finally got health insurance at 19 and went to a dentist i asked her if she could show me how i was supposed to brush and she got very angry at me and was very rude saying why should she bother because i clearly made no attempt to take care of myself, and called me disgusting. Then told me i was degrading her by asking her to brush my teeth (which i didnt, i just asked her to show me in anyway how to do it right as i really had no idea), and that i wasnt welcome there anymore. She had me escorted out by the staff. I was already embarrassed about my teeth and she utterly humiliated me and shamed me. I didnt go to any dentist after that for 12 years.
I wish i had had something like this back then. And just wanted to thank you for doing this video, it will definitely help others who are in the same situation i was and you are so kind about it. So thank you❤

i’d recommend not to brush more than 2-3 times a day tbh. i’m not a dentist but i do have experience with what dentists told me bc i have very bad teeth so i’m on the journey.
brush for 2 minutes in the morning.
brush for 2 minutes before bed.
but if you’re a person who eats lots of junk food and sweets like me, you can brush in the morning, evening, and night. or whenever you have junk food then atleast use some mouth wash or rinse your mouth out with warm water.
brushing more than like 3 times a day can damage your enamel which is the protective barrier of your teeth, and over brushing and brushing way too roughly can damage it which *will* cause harm
this also goes for mouthwash, the same applies. if you overuse mouthwash that can also damage the enamel which you don’t want to happen. so if you’re only brushing twice a day that’s fine

Okay, so what dental students are normally told and I tend to believe is that the second way he describes as in swiping away from the gum using medium brush is the right way for majority of people, and if you have gum recession, you should then use softer brush and brush more carefully.

My mum told me when I was 4 you will only get one set of teeth after your baby teeth and they’re for life the same teeth you have at 10 will be the teeth you have at 100.
You brush your teeth by making little circles over each tooth and each face of the tooth.
I have never had even a cavity. I don’t floss and I don’t use mouthwash regularly I got to the de tier wvery 7 years and every single time I see a dentist they say my teeth look like they haven’t been cleaned in a year not 7.

Inflamation is usually from bacteria stuck in the gums, brushing or flossing doesnt really get it so thats why they suggest to get a clean every six months. You can do everything perfect and still mess up your gums and teeth by not going for a cleaning. Learned from experience sadly

You can brush too much and then it does more harm than good. Remember a brand, any brand of whatever wants to sell max product. They don't give a hoot about your health. The advice from a respectable doctor is more reliable.

I only brush my teeth once a day and thats before bedtime for years now I didnt had check ups cause its super expensive here it just came up to me that I might have a thin gums due to the fact that I always have bleeding. I brush hard

I also brush my teeth once a day before bed. Some exceptions apply but I don't see the need to do it more often. I floss once or twice a day (because I have big gum pockets where food gets stuck) and I scrape my tongue daily as well, the tongue is horribly disgusting lol. I don't understand the stigma people face when they say they only brush once a day.

I've always used hard brushes with full force. People even get scared by the sound. Never had recession or any cavity.
