I hadn’t been to the dentist in over 10 years (grew up very poor), I had an incredibly traumatic experience the first and last time I went, and my parents never taught me proper dental hygiene. Funny enough, my parents are under 60 and have full sets of dentures. I recently had my first quadrant deep cleaned/scaled by a new dentist, and I can’t even explain how good I already feel. I was so scared, but everything has gone amazingly so far. I’m currently buying my first electric toothbrush, waterpick, tons and tons of string floss, I’m going all out! For anyone who needs to go see their dentist but is too scared, I promise you it is worth it. I PROMISE. That fear quickly melts away once you realize what a service you’re doing for yourself, and how much you’re taking care of yourself. Your body will thank you. ♥️
@@TeethTalk You really helped give me that boost I needed to get started on this journey! Thank you for all of your helpful information and guidance. ♥️🦷
@Isiah C See, that’s a really good point you make there, too! I had horrific anxiety before about anesthesia, local or otherwise. I’d never had any form of anesthesia before, and I was almost having a panic attack. But once you get past it, everything is so much easier!
@@rubitinkerbell9478 I know going to the dentist seems like a daunting and terrifying task. Like I said, I went once when I was 16 because we were too poor to go, and I never went back until age 25. My plaque and tartar was so bad that it was starting to cause me health problems in my body. Not to scare you into going, but tartar left alone for too long can go further than your mouth; it can cause heart issues, and other problems in the body. My best advice is to do your research. If you have insurance, ask around and find a dentist you think you can trust. If you don’t have insurance, see if there are assistance programs near you, or a dental school! They typically do cleanings and deep cleanings for free! Research what their facility looks like and visualize yourself there, that helped me a lot, so I wasn’t surprised when I walked into this new scary building. Once you find a trusted dentist, tell them EVERYTHING. Lay it ALL out on the table. I mean literally everything. Communication is key. How long it’s been since your last visit, how often you brush/floss, and do not be ashamed. They won’t pick fun. My dentist told me she sees more patients like mine every day than she actually sees her bi-annual cleaning patients. Bring a friend/family member/someone you trust with you if it helps! Hold their hand if you have to, I did when I was 16 and did it again when I was 25. The more you go, the less scary it becomes. Take your own before and after pictures of you teeth! That helped give me motivation to keep going back. I promise you’ve got this, I mean it. You’re going to do yourself such a good service. A good trusted dentist doesn’t care how long it’s been, or what shape your teeth are in. They are there to help you be the best you can. If you need some encouragement, I’m always here to help! Take your time, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. You got this, friend. 🥰
For most of my life I was fine just brushing and flossing, then I had some health issues. Afterward I had bone loss and gum recession. (6years ago) I started doing a similar routine as yours. I was able to stop the bone loss and many areas of my gums have returned close to normal. My dentist was super impressed how clean my teeth were at my last visit, and that the bone loss has been stopped. My routine is: either water floss or string floss, regular toothbrush, then rotodent toothbrush, then interdental brushes dipped in either mouthwash, or toothpaste. Dipping them makes a very big difference. It takes time but it is really worth it! 6 years ago I was told it would cost $20,000 or more to restore my bones and gums. 6 years later I go back to a dentist and I didn’t even need a deep cleaning :) Your videos are full of great info, and entertaining.
@@Mr360attack Some of mine have. But not all. It depends on how long you've had the damage, and how extensive the damage is. The most important thing is to stop anymore damage. @@fer10190 Hi! I know the question wasn't directed to me either but I am also having Invisalign treatment. It's actually been going on for like 3 years now. It might sound long, but it was due to a few months of COVID-19 delays and a lot of "adjustments" (not sure what they call it, and my current one is like my 4th time I think). "Adjustments" basically mean after you complete your first set of Invisalign, the dentist scans your teeth and if he finds that further improvements can be made, they'll arrange it and then boom, a new set of Invisalign to wear. Although these "adjustments" could be a lot (depending on the individual of course), my teeth actually have already started looking much neater than before and almost seemingly flawless at the end of my 2nd set of Invisalign (was about a year or less into the treatment). Not sure if that's how it works in every dental clinic, but my clinic doesn't charge additional fees for it, which is a good thing. So I personally don't mind these "adjustments" since they're basically free of charge. Hope this information helps! Have you started with Invisalign already?
As someone who had a mother who did dentist, and instilled none of the habits to us or even encourage basic brushing, I really appreciate learning all this stuff. Hopefully it isn't too late (lots of gum regression, but can't afford a dental visit with insurance..)
Dental visits are usually free with insurance? Or are you from somewhere with a Medicaid reimbursement plan (you pay half for visits and the government pays the other). Having been through several tight spots, see if you can get a dental savings plan, if the lowest band of insurance is not in your ballpark. They're usually $13/month with full x rays, cleaning, and consultation coming in at $250-. At $35 dollars a month for a bare bones dental plan in my neck of the woods, you're $100+ short of a regular insurance policy. Especially if you have not gone to the dentist in a while the sooner you go the less it will cost you long term.
I just had my gums deep cleaned for the first time and my hygienist gave me electric toothbrush and water pick flosser. This is my routine now everyday and I'm glad my gums don't bleed anymore🤭
I'm so glad you made this video. Here's why, and it's not because it benefits me. I got very lucky, and attended a really great public school in elementary school that taught me all about dental care, right down to the name of each tooth, in the 4th grade, and how to brush, floss, use disclosing tablets once a month, etc. However, as a 50+-year-old woman today, I'm surprised how many adults do NOT ever learn how to take care of their teeth, or why it's important for heart health and general immune health. I think of all the kids who grow up in neglectful homes, with abusive, addicted, emotionally mature, or ignorant primary caregivers, and pretty much have to raise themselves because no adult is raising them. I think of all the children in foster care, and even those who are homeschooled who never learn these things because it's not part of the "creationist" curriculum. You may or may not be aware, but you are probably helping a lot of kids and adults alike, who never had a nurturing, caring parent in their home, or were raised by the human equivalent of sharks that didn't care about their own child, much less their child's teeth and overall health. You're really doing great public service, and your video are friends and accessible. Just wanted to say thank you for being a positive role model and global citizen.
Nice video! A recent randomized controlled trial showed that flossing before brushing got rid of significantly more plaque than flossing after. But your method of leaving the toothpaste on while flossing seems like a good idea to get similar benefits
I gargle warm salt water, string floss, water floss, rinse, brush, tongue scrape. In that order. I personally don't mind leaving toothpaste because I use a natural toothpaste (with added fluoride) so it doesn't dry out my mouth.
@@BlakeMadsen at first when I was leaving my toothpaste on I was so grossed out but I actually prefer it now it keeps my breath so minty for such a long period of time!
@@sebastiansebastian5270 You can get them from the grocery shop or your Hygienist and they will tell you what size/s you need, but you still have to use the string floss or tooth picks. I use the big blue ones as I have lots of space, I have advance gum disease
I love how you’re a dentist but also take your own dental hygiene with such passion!! It brings joy into my heart lol. I love it “follow your own advice” kinda thing. Also you’re very gorgeous and I love everything about you girllll❤❤
If I had this knowledge when I was in my teens and twenties it would have saved thousands of dollars and visits to the dentist. I’m lucky enough at 65 go have most my teeth, I have 3 crowns and 1 bridge and decent looking teeth. Started at 50 to get serious. Great information 👍👍👍
Hi! Thanks for the updated PM routine. In your AM routine, could you please talk about brushing teeth before eating breakfast so food doesn’t cling to biofilm developed overnight? Thanks.
I think I'm the weirdo who does all three flossing methods every night. 😁 Just had a deep cleaning because gingivitis and I honestly don't want to take the chance of bacteria making a home in my gums anymore. Keeping my beautiful gums clean! 😁😁
I have binged your videos for a couple of hours now. Since I randomly came by your channel. Didn't even search for this topic. I just sat down to kill time on TH-cam. But here I am now. Never before have I been more motivated to perfectionate my dental hygiene than I have become now! I will give regular flossing another go instead of the floss picks. I will also look for a better electronic toothbrush, proxy brush and possibly a water flosser. You have an incredible attitude about this topic which is extremely motivating to me. I really love your work!
Love the science bathroom. This is a great example of the many tools that can be optionally used at home to prevent cavities and gum diseases. Also for those living in areas without Fluoride in the water, (eg UK) it’s important to brush with a fluoride toothpaste or mouthwash LAST and not rinse the mouth or drink or eat for 20-30 mins. (Spit out the toothpaste and mouthwash immediately after brush/mouthwash).
I sting floss, then water floss, then I use my electronic brush, then use a baby toothbrush to brush my gums well. And I don’t rinse at this point! And then I put my retainers in. I love your video, it’s more important than skincare in my eyes!
I floss first than brush my teeth with sonic or oscillate electric toothbrush. I use teeth paste with nano hydroxilpeptyte and leave it on thru night , after brushing and I don't rinse with water. Teeth have remineralized back and I have no cavities last 10 years. I don't use mouthwash. I use now toothpaste from US, it's called Boka. They don't sale them here in Europe.
well.... 1. Floss 2. Rinse 3. wait for 30 minutes 4. Brush my teeth for 2 mins 5. Clean my tongue 6. Wait for 30 minutes 7. Mouth wash for recommended on bottle 8. Done. 9. wait for 30 minutes before eating or drinking.
I think I've spotted a problem in my routine. I floss, rinse, brush, rinse, clean tongue and rinse. I rinse so often because I hate the idea of loose trash being in my mouth at any stage. If the tongue scraper loosened particles and dropped it off the scraper, it's in my mouth = no, I'm rinsing it out lol. Anyways, I think I should floss, brush and do tongue and then rinse. Then do fluoride mouth wash and wait 30 minutes to eat/drink. Save me some time in the AM.
I follow kind of the same routine as yours. What I do first (as instructed by my dentist) is use a mouthwash for one whole minute, spit. Then I floss thennnn I brush for a whole two minutes then spit again! And never rinse. 🦷 Love your routine though! 💕
as a kid i did know nothing about dental hygiene my parents didn't take care of there teeth so i didn't take care as well until you know what happened 🙂 i got a lot of cavities but i was scared to go to the dentist 😬 for three months i was just bothered by my teeth but after i started watching you and other dentist i decided to go and fix my teeth i got couple of fillings ( no root canal thankfully my cavities wasn't that deep ) and now iam taking care of my teeth and you can't know how good i'm feeling if you are scared take the step and go to the dentist trust me its worth it

So many comments stating how they were never taught proper hygiene! I'm on the same boat, and 30 years later I was diagnosed with periodontal disease 😔 Now my night routine is very similar to yours except I don't use the teeth bristles even though I do have some in my cabinet. Thanks for sharing! Now I feel more confident knowing that I've been feeling doing it right ever since my diagnosis 👍
Make sure ur using a waterpik. Use one with a level from 0-10. You can add ACT kids mouthrinse a capful to ur waterpik so the goodness can get under ur gums subginvally. 😊 🦷
I just got my Oral B Water Flosser Advanced from my dentist, and she gave me the tip of using it in the shower. A nifty tip for not worrying about the water spraying all over the place.

You're soo funny 😹😹😹 I've commented on a few of your videos, the last one was a few months ago and I mentioned my aspiration of starting dental hygiene school & I just wanted to comment and say I'm almost done with my first semester if my prerequisites! 🥰 Currently doing braces and it's always fun giving my kiddo patients hygiene tips. ✌🏽🫶🏽🦷
yay this makes me sooo happy! thank you for this kind comment! and so excited for you to continue your toothy journey! wishing you the best!!! :) :) :)
Unfortunately, you need mechanical way to remove plaque, food debris below the gumline and in between the teeth. The water flosser does not replace flossing.
you're still doing great! now I feel like you should take it baby steps to brushing your teeth in morning too but don't best yourself up about it. slow progress is better than no progress
I wash my manual toothbrushes in warm water with Dawn dish soap, rinse, and shake/towel dry. I have a fresh, clean toothbrush every time. I also use different toothbrushes and alternate between one "extra" on top of string floss: proxy brush/rubber GUM tool or super floss, which has a nice thick cottony floss that's fantastic in between my crowns and molars. I listen to a podcast for that 15 minutes routine 😊
Hi thank you for your awesome videos today was my first time to get a deep cleaning and I’m getting ready to get my tongue tie procedure next week so I am really happy to see your videos thank you so much

Me and my siblings were never aware about the oral hygiene. Our parents didn’t care about brushing teeth and stuff. And now in 16 with teeth problems and i have to visit my dentist at least twice a month now. But i am learning how to take care of my teeth i hope its not too late now.

Hey TTG, how about a morning routine I know mornings are hectic for all I'm usually up an hour to an hour an a half before I leave for work, to allow time for errors or delay. Keep in mind work close for tomorrow are already laid out for the next day and anything else I may need is made ready and by the door if I haven't already put my bag in the truck and lunch is prepared night before if not prepared at beginning of the week
here's my morning dental routine: th-cam.com/video/yeJEWmEZTPg/w-d-xo.html and here's my "get ready for work" video: th-cam.com/video/X5XXICXJZsY/w-d-xo.html
My current night routine now its as follows: 1. String floss. 2. Water floss twice (meaning 1 water reservoir for the front teeth and chewing surfaces and 1 water reservoir for the back part of the teeth and tongue). 3. Manually brush the teeth, spit not rinse. 4. Tongue scraped. 5. Electric brush, spit not rinse. 6. Wait for about 5 minutes and mouthwash for 1 minute, spit not rinse.
I agree with flossing before brushing....what I do to get the toothpaste on is the following routine: (1) take old fashioned manual toothbrush and brush my teeth with toothpaste about one minute. (2) Leaving toothpaste on, I then floss (3) I use my Oral B electric and spend at least 30 seconds on each quadrant (4) Scrape tongue and then rinse
Wow that was intense. First time watching a video from your channel. Dental hygienist are always good at what they do. Both at home and in the office. Going to watch how to use an electric tooth brush now lol

Nice video! A recent randomized controlled trial showed that flossing before brushing got rid of significantly more plaque than flossing after. But your method of leaving the toothpaste on while flossing seems like a good idea to get similar benefits
Do you know the name of the study? I'd love to look into it :)
@@BlakeMadsen It’s not good to ingest fluoride.
What was the reason the study gave for why flossing before removed more plaque?
So by the time you're done with your routine, you're in bed by 3 or 4 am?
hahahaha
I follow everything minus the water floss and those little brushes she used
It only takes about 10 minutes max. Don’t be lazy lmao
@@sebastiansebastian5270 You can get them from the grocery shop or your Hygienist and they will tell you what size/s you need, but you still have to use the string floss or tooth picks. I use the big blue ones as I have lots of space, I have advance gum disease
@@belmum1689 i do have one given to me by my dentist but it's mainly to brush the space between my braces
I love how you’re a dentist but also take your own dental hygiene with such passion!! It brings joy into my heart lol. I love it “follow your own advice” kinda thing. Also you’re very gorgeous and I love everything about you girllll❤❤
The water flosser is giving high maintenance!
Fluoride ! Oh no way that’s poison
She's a Dental Hygienist, which is awesome because she's the preventative part of dentistry, been following her for years.
Your hair looks so strong and beautiful!
THANK YOU! I just dyed it a little darker so that makes me feel very good!!!
Hi! Thanks for the updated PM routine. In your AM routine, could you please talk about brushing teeth before eating breakfast so food doesn’t cling to biofilm developed overnight? Thanks.
YESSS! brushing before or after breakfast video coming soon! and totally need to update my personal morning routine video too :)
I think I'm the weirdo who does all three flossing methods every night. 😁 Just had a deep cleaning because gingivitis and I honestly don't want to take the chance of bacteria making a home in my gums anymore. Keeping my beautiful gums clean! 😁😁
YOU ARE A DREAM DENTAL PATIENT! so happy to hear this! keep up the great work!
Lool I had a similar experience, my last hygiene cleaning was so painful and i didn't wanna go through that again so i decided to floss a bit more
finally someone who is as crazy about dental hygiene as i am! i just love that clean feeling afterwards
AHHH I LOVE YOUR BATHROOM! Aspiring dentist who just found your channel, and I'm obsessed.
yay thank you SO much for being here :)
I really love your work!
thank you so much for watching & commenting this! wishing you continued dental care!!! truly so excited to hear this :)
(Spit out the toothpaste and mouthwash immediately after brush/mouthwash).
your bathroom is so adorable 🥺
THANK YOU!
I sting floss, then water floss, then I use my electronic brush, then use a baby toothbrush to brush my gums well. And I don’t rinse at this point! And then I put my retainers in. I love your video, it’s more important than skincare in my eyes!
I followed this exact routine my teeth feel so clean and it’s just an amazing feeling thx so much 😊 I subscribed you are an absolute angel ❤️🙏
thank you so much for your kind words! positive vibes friend!
What I do night and morning is
1. Floss
2. Rinse
3. Brush my teeth
4. Clean my toung
5. Mouth wash
6. Done
same i do the exact thing except i only floss at night
well....
1. Floss
2. Rinse
3. wait for 30 minutes
4. Brush my teeth for 2 mins
5. Clean my tongue
6. Wait for 30 minutes
7. Mouth wash for recommended on bottle
8. Done.
9. wait for 30 minutes before eating or drinking.
On behalf of all my Fairy people, I must say your teeth are amazing!!!
I love you dry humor, your videos are AWESOME and VERY INFORMATIVE! 😁
I follow kind of the same routine as yours.
What I do first (as instructed by my dentist) is use a mouthwash for one whole minute, spit. Then I floss thennnn I brush for a whole two minutes then spit again! And never rinse. 🦷
Love your routine though! 💕
as a kid i did know nothing about dental hygiene my parents didn't take care of there teeth so i didn't take care as well until you know what happened 🙂
i got a lot of cavities but i was scared to go to the dentist 😬
for three months i was just bothered by my teeth but after i started watching you and other dentist i decided to go and fix my teeth
i got couple of fillings ( no root canal thankfully my cavities wasn't that deep )
and now iam taking care of my teeth and you can't know how good i'm feeling
if you are scared take the step and go to the dentist trust me its worth it
Your smile makes me 😁, it's amazing how you easily deliver all that information. I've learned so much from your videos thank you so much, keep on smiling is very healthy.
I love your videos. I also liked the periodic table towels and shower curtain in the background.

I love your periodic table decor!
Love your video! Informative and funny. Thanks for helping those of us on the “dental struggle”… super helpful!
Went and ordered of few of your products, thanks so much for sharing, enjoying your channel 😉🦷🪥
thank you for watching!!! happy hygiene!!!!
Thanks for introducing me to Proxabrushes! Will have to look for some in Target tomorrow.
Tried them, oh my god they slip through the cracks so well!
I just got my Oral B Water Flosser Advanced from my dentist, and she gave me the tip of using it in the shower. A nifty tip for not worrying about the water spraying all over the place.

There is literally a TH-cam channel for everything lol
I do use my water flosser over string. Probably not the ideal thing to do, but I feel it works best for my mouth.
Unfortunately, you need mechanical way to remove plaque, food debris below the gumline and in between the teeth.
The water flosser does not replace flossing.
Dude I only brush my teeth for night routine and I thought I was doing great.
Now I feel like a dirty caveman.
you're still doing great! now I feel like you should take it baby steps to brushing your teeth in morning too but don't best yourself up about it. slow progress is better than no progress

I love the tip of cleaning the sink with high pressurized water haha
That shower curtain is amazing
I also go along the gum line and especially around the back corners (which you really can't otherwise reach) with a tuft brush.
Amazing video!💯 can you also do a video on the benefits of using warm water with salt
Jeez you teeth must be loving you rn. All cozy and snugly
They should teach this in school. Things that you will actually use in life and that will save you a ton of money in the long run.
Hi thank you for your awesome videos today was my first time to get a deep cleaning and I’m getting ready to get my tongue tie procedure next week so I am really happy to see your videos thank you so much
wishing you continued dental care!!! thank you for being here :)
This would take like 20 mins to finish !!! I CANT !
No. More like 10 minutes or less.
What else you have to do? Watch TH-cam videos?
2 min brushing, 30 sec hand washing, 2 min floss, 2 min second floss, 1 min mouth wash, 30 sec mouth guard & chapstick...8 minutes lol
You are incredibly thorough and incredibly funny! Glad I found you. I have NEVER done all that you do, so I can see I have a lot to work on. (I will have to work on my 74 years of laziness first.) Thanks for this video, I will go check out more!
Excellent video. I will start doing water flossing and using the different sized proxy brushes as you demonstrated.
Me and my siblings were never aware about the oral hygiene. Our parents didn’t care about brushing teeth and stuff. And now in 16 with teeth problems and i have to visit my dentist at least twice a month now. But i am learning how to take care of my teeth i hope its not too late now.

This is ALOT....it takes some real self motivation just to brush and floss! I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed after watching this! Lolol
Good girl. Hard work pays off.
Thank you very much for sharing! I think I am overdue for a hygiene routine revamping!
Please share your skincare routine!! Your skin is soo nice!
I always clean teeth with corsodol spray no rinse. Then use combined tiny brush and pointed dental toothpick. Then rinse with water.
The last thing i wanna have in my house is the periodic table LOL
I like anything related to math and astronomy
Are used to get tonsil stones because I had a hole in my tonsil so they removed my tonsils and I was in my late 30s. Pretty painful but I’ll do it again and so glad I did it. No more tonsil stones.

Your shower curtain is a periodic table lolol I love it :)
Cute Video
Glad I'm not the only who moistures my lips after brushing lol
I have to do it because i leave my fan on at night and it always makes my lips dry in the morning
when you have children is difficult to stuck so long to such a teeth routine but good for you that you clean so good your Teeth :) great smile
My current night routine now its as follows:
And I thought I was the only one to wash the sink with the pressure water after flossing lol. Thanks great and very helpful video
Wow that was intense. First time watching a video from your channel. Dental hygienist are always good at what they do. Both at home and in the office. Going to watch how to use an electric tooth brush now lol

This video helped me a lot.I used to not take good care of my teeth at all.I didn’t brush very often, and when I did,my family made me use a hard bristle, causing gum recession, and it also prevented me from brushing the fronts and gums of my teeth. But now I have a impeccable oral routine. 10 likes and I’ll list it 👇🏼
Here is my routine:
1. Brush and rinse lightly
2. Floss
3. Wash my hands and nails thoroughly
4. Brush again, no rinse
5. Gently scrape off any plaque my toothbrush couldn't get with my fingernails
6. Wash my hands and nails thoroughly
7. Waterpic all teeth
8. Brush for a third time and rinse
9. Clean the counter and faucet handles
10. Wash my hands and face
11. Apply Pacifica face moisturizer
12. Optional: Sometimes I use a remineralization powder
Note: No mouthwash needed because of the final brushing. Brushing steps always include brushing my tongue.
Why is brushing the tongue important? Thanks! I’ve never had a dentist say to do this.
@@sar1142 Hi! Tongues harbor a lot of bacteria and residual food particles, so brushing the tongue helps eliminate these and prevent plaque accumulation and cavities.
Omg!! I always leave the toothpaste on when I floss as well. At least I'm not the only one. I not only use my tongue scraper but I also brush my tongue with toothpaste
It bothered me to just let the water dribble out of my mouth into the sink as I used my burst flosser, but you make it look good!
I personally wash hands first , then floss , rinse with regular mouthwash then brush . Finally use flouride rinse . Tada !! Both hygienist and dentist saying my teeth and gums are great . YAY . Sidenote = Also rinse with water after every meal or coffee LOVE LOVE coffee
Isn’t it not bad to use the mouthwash that amount of time 😅
