    Ay G I’m a plumber out here in Long Beach California. First generation Mexican-American 22 years young. I fuck with your videos bro. Shit be tuff out here but the grind don’t stop manee !!! My side hustle plan is to buy a 3-4k truck to do drain cleaning calls as a side hustle since drain cleaning out here in cali does not require license. Reason I want to do that is so I can buy more tools, save some money and buying books & courses to get my c-36 license, OFC shit is easier said then done but that’s my plan G. My goal is to reach a certain level of financial freedom.

      You’ll know when you’re there. There isn’t a set amount of time for anyone. If what your selling provides value to the market and a price you can profit at you will ultimately do great no matter what. No one can beat the market. It decides what works and when it works it’s beautiful

      im 24, been in manufacturing and then later welding (4 years in also actually) since I turned 18 and I created my LLC for a mobile welding business and bought a truck but in reality at work when im talking to the old guys I realize how much I dont know yet and that I should not be taking on any big jobs that are not in my skillset without help (with I got on speed dial lol). I can relate to your comment alot about the wanting to have business moves but still not quite having seen enough to be confident in every situation.

    In the process of doing those 10 years of hard work, learning human anatomy can be beneficial. Some people are prone to back and nerve problems, and it can totally derail your career. If you don’t know that the discs in your back are not solid, or bone. I highly advise doing some research into it. Health is wealth.

      That is so true and so important. I woke up the day after my 25th birthday with serious back pain and it didn’t go away for years and years and years. I’m doing better now and I know how to protect myself but it’s really easy to fuck up. When I was 24 I couldn’t find the bottom of my strength and thought I could pick up everything and I could but it fucking caught up to me. I’ll get a hand to carry a 20 foot stick a half inch pipe now lol

Just taking it day by day, although I do get stressed and overwhelmed sometimes I hit all my targets I set day by day, week by week. I’m grateful I have my Dad and mentors guiding me. 22 and 3 years into commercial metal duct installation/fabrication. I learn and grow my skills every day and I do what my grandfather did to put food on the table and I get to work under my uncle cracking jokes, beating duct, and growing everyday. This is the message we need to send to young men, best part is no college debt. To any young guys motivated to ACTUALLY learn(not sit back with a thumb in your ass wanting your hand held) find someone who needs helpers get some tools and get to work(stay humble like this man said its a long term game), you'll sweat your ass off but it''s well worth it when you get to grab your balls and go yeah I did that shit.

    Thank you for sharing this. I appreciate your straightforward no bs advice. I spent the last 5-7 years pursuing my dream of art and while I won’t say it was a waste, I’m definitely not satisfied with where I am financially. So now at 30 I do feel a bit behind for looking at a new start. Currently looking at pest control as a potential trade while keeping my art business as a side hustle. As someone who also lives in the DFW metropolitan area I wonder if you could give more insight? If not I understand and thank you again for sharing.

    • @brasshouse-og
      @brasshouse-og  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pest control is awesome. There are so many different avenues you can take to get recurring business and the startup cost is very low. You can make serious serious money off pest control. There’s a guy that lives by me here and waxahachie who owns a pest control business he Added home security stuff to that business as well and is stupid rich. Pest control is one of those fields where if you’re very conscientious and detail oriented, you can really set yourself apart from the field. Most pest control guys basically just spray chemicals all day but the good ones are actually solving tricky problems and making real fucking money. There are probably more than 1000 pest control technicians making six figures in DFW alone.

    • @brasshouse-og
      @brasshouse-og  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I seriously need to make a video about pest control. I think it’s actually a really geat industry that has the potential for small businesses to scale infinitely. It’s not typically a 24/7 type job with emergency calls and difficult schedules. You can do honest work at a fair rate and set up mutually beneficial programs with customers to get recurring work. I think of all the Service industries it may be the easiest one to create win-win situations for both the customer and the business. If I can build my plumbing business up big enough one day to sell it, I would like to go get into pest control. It really intrigues me for some reason. I’m sure I answered your question much more than you wanted but it was a really good question.

    Thanks for this advice man I’m 20 years old and in trade school just finishing my electrical course and going to learn how to do welding so I can have two trades under my belt definitely taking my time and learning as much as I can.

    • @brasshouse-og
      @brasshouse-og  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don’t want to tell you how to do you and you’ll know what’s best for you but I wouldn’t recommend trying two trades at once. I would say it’d be better to do one or the other and then if you get badass at one of them and have people falling over themselves to give you money to do it. You can start looking for ways to increase your income from there. I tried to do two trades at once and it was not worth it. It hurt me more than hurt me. There is always more money is specializing. Everyone is different though. I can’t say for sure what will work best for anyone really.

    • @elijah3996
      @elijah3996 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@brasshouse-ogyeah definitely completely agree what you are saying reason why I’m taking two trades is because the way how my trade school is run is where after age 21 I can’t come back plus it free so I already basically completed all my electrical courses so I said to myself why not just juice this how program out so I decided to do welding before I turn 21 so I can take full advantage of the program.

    Hey Brass - your content is great, seems like no bullshit advice to succeed, and as a younger guy I appreciate you putting it out. Im wondering how this applies to white collar / generalist type work - I work at a firm that builds tech solutions for our customers. We do cybersecurity, AI, lots of stuff. Regarding getting badass at something, do you have any advice when the underlying work is more generalized, perhaps too varied to specialize in everything? My thought is basically the skillset I should focus on - the thing to get badass at - is understanding and delivering what our customers want, while deepening my knowledge across the board when possible. I do think there is a high ceiling and my 15 year plan is starting a company that does the same.

    • @brasshouse-og
      @brasshouse-og  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Daniel-hu4xn I would say to exactly what you’re doing. Figuring out how to be more valuable for the customers you serve now I’ll show you exactly what you need to do when you start your own business app. The excellent service you’re providing right now will help you reputation in those relationships you need. I would then be as aggressive as possible, in getting raises and promotions. Finding out what metrics you can hit to earn more money and get promotions can really give you that roadmap to success. I would also want to find somebody in the industry who has made a shit load of money and try to see they went and see what you can learn off. With the mindset you have it’s almost inevitable you’ll make money.

    I am an IT worker with a year in a field, close to making pretty good money in "tech" within two years I can be making 80k if I keep studying and learning. I am 29 and thinking about being a plumber. Instead of being in an office all day I want to work with my hands. I can do well in IT but I know my best skill is fixing things. I like to work hard, and do it right the first time and provide value to customers. Would it be stupid to make the switch, at the moment I am at 24 an hour no benefits nothing. joining a union would put me at 22, benefits with everything. It sounds like with plumbing the pay is good and more guaranteed if you are a hard worker and work smart. I can do that, what I can't guarantee is playing politics in the office to get a raise and promoted. I saw your video to your nephew that plumbing is for fuck ups. Do you believe that all the time? Me and my fiance are going to get married soon and start a family and I want the benefits soon, I would only start plumbing if I can get those benefits from the beginning. My thought process is plumbing has a much higher ceiling of pay than IT.
