Billy Wilson......... R C Owens .........Very Good Recievers ......... Often Overlooked Because Of So Long ago .........loved the niners of the fifties and sixties .....thru the brodie years also.......... Kezar Stadium ........49 Er Fans Remember .....a terrific Read .....
I went to only one 49er game at Kezar, in 1969. Otherwise, home games were to be seen by me on 49er highlights, narrated by Lon Simmons, on KTVU Thursday nights. Saw just about every single away game on the TV from 1960 until 1972. That meant seeing them play at places like Wrigley Field, Tiger Stadium, Yankee Stadium, and other ball parks.
The thing that made Dwight Clark's catch against Dallas in '81 so much sweeter was because it was the Cowboys who knocked San Fran out of the playoffs (twice in the NFC Championship Game) three straight years from 1970-72. Those Niners, with John Brodie in the twilight of his career, were the best team you never hear about from the 70's.
Them Cowboys would purge on San Francisco teams you 2 started sharing players like baseball cards. NFC was dominant using them steroids AFC player's seemed smaller compared to NFC player's they'd say NFC prefers drafting big offensive lineman 😂 Ronnie Lot chops off a pinky and gets back in the game that guy was wide eyed like Singletary it was obvious something wasn't adding up Lou Alzado didn't begin as a Raider but they talked about him like the odd ball seemed like It was strange how NFC player's weren't getting hurt as much but then they started in on the Style of Offense vs Defense schemes like one played better than the other AFC had Marino Esaison Kelly Elway them coaches like Walsh and Jimmy were forced to resign Walsh was tearing up when he won that last Superbowl he didn't want to go neither did Jimmy it got out of control so now it's sport's science and I want some 😂
I'd love to see at least one more. I have to say that the 49er move to Santa Clara some forty miles south has a curse on it: the Morabito Curse. The original owners had it in their will that the 49ers would play in San Francisco.
So close in 2016 our Super Bowl loss last year felt very similar, you guys will get one, Atlanta has gotten too close to many times to never win one, trust.
Bill Walsh's connection with Sam Wyche predated their time coaching together in San Fran. Walsh was Wyche's QB coach in Cincinnati from 1968-70. Also, the 1984 Niners team was arguably the greatest team ever. They were 1 bogus pass interference call vs Pittsburgh away from a perfect 19-0 season. That team had no weaknesses to exploit. Even the '85 Bears showed a vulnerability to a passing attack like Marino's Dolphins.
really cool history lesson here ........... 1979 draft ........... and bill walsh .......... only the beginning ........thanks 80"s football cards ........ Nice Job ....
"We didn't have any short routes. We didn't have any west coast long handoff. I'd rather take a stick in the eye than watch Bill Walsh's offense." - Jerry Glanville
Are you kidding me??? At the 1:34:00 mark where the 49ers finally beat the Packers in the playoffs with the miracle bullet throw to TO for the game winning TD isn't on here. It's like Packer fan edited those crucial few moments of this otherwise great documentary. Wow, what a shame.
I love my niners not matter what the player or couch going trough they are more than a fútbol team they represent Northern California we stay faith to the bay 49ers ❤
Just curious, why did you spell "football" in Spanish? And no disrespect, but it seems like English is your second language: Did you migrate to NorCal at some point after being born in Mexico?
Couldn't get better footage of a player getting carried off on a stretcher than Frank Gifford when talking about Hardy Brown? We all know that was from the Chuck Bednarik play in 1960..
Can't beat Lon (R.I.P.) calling those Forty Niner games! Thanks God for putting volume knobs and mute buttons on television sets... Summeral, who? And Madden, who?
You kind of lost me when you made no mention of Roger Craig's fumble that cost the team a three-peat. kind of a whitewash of history. Especially ironic since it was Craig that coined the term by making that the goal for the season...
Losing Montana earlier in the game (which WAS mentioned) also hurt. Ditto the fake punt where the Niners only had 10 men on the field-the Tuna could have run for a first down through that hole.
@@bumbacloutox932No shit. They still crying over The 'Immaculate Reception' & 'The Tuck Rule' game lol not to mention Super Bowl XXXVII smh. Go Niners!
Going from Dwight Clarke and Freddie Solomon to Jerry Rice and John Taylor. Now that's a blessed franchise.

Me too! But 1970.
Notre Dame 1st then the Forty Niners too by season's end.
As an Atlanta Falcons fan, I'm jealous of San Fran's 5 Super Bowl wins. Would love to have just one
You fellas never draft outside SEC ACC

That 49ers team vs Tom Flores 80s Raiders ?
I say that niners team wins handily @@epic6434
I typically see 89 considered better than 84, but both were incredible
The 1983 campaign is still my favorite.
TWO bogus PI calls kept them from going to SB18

For some reason, a lot of old footage with the Packers get flagged and taken down by YoutTube. I agree, it's annoying and dumb.

Ima make a video on the 49ers thanks for the educational facts
Awesome! Good luck with your video!
And back in those days, you couldn't spike the Ball to kill the clock, the comeback's were a lot harder, ⛏️ 🏉
Awesome video.
Why wasn’t the John Brodie 70’s era mentioned?
They mentioned the Brodie years. But it was like two minutes.
In general that period gets overlooked because of everything that’s happened since.
He had an underrated MVP season though
