If this technician does this all the time, he might want to get life insurance; just a matter of time before he gets his shirt caught in that rotating shaft every time he reaches over it! Jesus Christ....
Him leaning over the spinning output shaft made me tense up big time. Mannnnn shut the machine off before you lean over something like that! You’ll get a limb ripped off!!!
that output shaft is doing some moving with that sloppy setup. and DAM,thats a HUGE gear box. Wish they would build an auto trans that beefy....fkn molar/fiat.
hey just a quick question since im from Germany I can easily get a Vario or Atgeo G56 since I used to work as a Mercedes Mechanic I'm thinking about converting my 3rd gen cummins to manual, do you know what modifications are required to make the Mercedes box fit if any at all
The g56 is actually extremely quiet. Most the noise is associated with the dual mass flywheel in the ram trucks. They were extremely quite if you switch to a solid mass flywheel... And the floater plate if you go with a dual disc clutch is very loud
I pushed mine to 900hp before it went , had it at 750 hp for 2 years with no issues other than constantly having to replace the crossmember bolts and clutch I have a tripple disc ceramic button in the new one , stock g56 going on 45k in the new one , old one had 180k 120k of it was only 400hp
@@jjames5928 my first gear synchronizer just failed on me and fell down into third gear and tore it up. Now it needs a rebuild or a complete replacement. Truck has 59k miles on it and still under warranty. Dealership is trying to tell me that my tune caused the synchronizer to fail and the only available replacement is a used tranny in AZ for $7800! It’s maybe pushing 500hp at most but I run it in the fuel economy tune. Also has a Valair triple disc. Never towed with it either. Beside the Cummins the g56 was the last thing I expected to fail on the truck, especially at 59k. Wtf

High Gear Transmissions I have the first gen G-56 on my first gen 2007.5 6.7L Turbo Diesel Cummins Dodge Ram. I am wanting to get it built to be able to tow 25,000 pounds. And ideal where I can take her to get built?
Shawn Nix fuck! Really?.. no way.. see.. I want to get a fleece cheeta Turbo. And get there new Exhaust Brake controller. As well as completely rebuild my Engine and just upgrade to everything that I will need to be able to drive 500HP and 1001 FPOT day in and day out.. with being able to tow 25,000 with it taking 60-75% of what she’s got. So I know I’m looking at at least 10K bare minimum haha..
+Zane Hope FZ6 Hundred I currently have a 14 3500 mega dually with the G56. I'm running EFI live 100 hp injectors and a Cheetah turbo, .and have a South Bend DD 3250 clutch. have 55,000+ miles on this setup. about 80% of those miles towing all in the 30 to 42k range. I am also running 3.42 gears. On my 06 I had 3.73's but ran 22.5 semi rims. From my experience you can run a 100hp 200 tq tune over stock and stock clutch will be fine over that, you will need to upgrade. I think part of the reason the G56 is rated lower is it has such a fast reverse gear. Because it is hard to back it up grossing 40K. simple solution is throw it in low range, and save your clutch.
SRN exactly! The low range I’ve been doing! I pull 12K every other weekend. All I have so far is just straight pipe. No goodies yet. I have 3:42 gears with the G-56 transmission. I have a 2007.5 6.7L Turbo Diesel Cummins with the first gen G-56 transmission. I’m at 116k with the Stock clutch. I’m replacing the clutch to a dual street clutch that’s rated to 1000HP and 1500 FPOT that’s plenty of room for me. Since all I want to do is to have 500-650HP and 1001-1207FPOT
there pure junk mine crapped out at 225.000km and i bought the truck brand new in 2016 this is 2022 now I'm in 6950 dollars Canadian for a rebuild NV 5600.now it does not come with shifting fork for clutch release or shifter either now you need to find the vin number where the NV5600 came out of and you need a shifter specific to transmission. And you need to modify the transmission mount to support the transmission bet they don't tell you that when you by a rebuild transmission. G56 cannot be rebuild here in Canada i know parts are next to impossible to find i ordered a brand new one from a dodge dealer and waited 4 month yes bought and paid for cash got refunded to find out G56 are discontinued and if they where available they where 11 000 dollars plus tax here in Ontario.so my question to the engineer that decided to present this stupid idea to the board of directors of Chrysler or dodge WHY ON EARTH DO YOU MAKE A HEAVY DUTY TRANSMISION OUT ALLUMINUM I DONT CARE IF ITS TWO PIECE ONE PIECE OR THREE PIECE TRANSMISION THAT WAS NOT A GOOD IDEA.hey frank lets build a heavy duty trans but very light ya i got it frank here alllllllummininmummm there ya go to the engineers you guys are pure idiots.ya testing my a........DONT put to much pressure on that transmission that thing will blow up GARANTEE have a good day junk aluminum transmission SCRAP PILE
So does that mean that everyone who has one of these trucks that still have warranty on them are sh*t out of luck if it fails? How would Chrysler replace a brand new tranny if none exist in their inventory? Mine just failed due to a bad synchronizer at 59k and it’s still under warranty
I think most people who watched this video were looking for some kind of stats as far as torque or something, not 7:34 of whirring.
Don't lean over the spinning shaft! Safety first!!
If this technician does this all the time, he might want to get life insurance; just a matter of time before he gets his shirt caught in that rotating shaft every time he reaches over it! Jesus Christ....
@tonytees I know i couldn't believe what i saw at 2:22
Thought the same thing.
Must not be in the U.S. - No shield over the shaft, and no safety glasses!
I was just thinking almost the same damned thing.
Check out the propane heater in the background also :)
Anyone else was expecting his shirt sleeves to get caught at 2:22?!
Me 🤣🤣😅
DONT LEAN OVER THE RUNNING EFING TRANS IF YOUR SHIRT GETS CAUGHT U R A DEAD/ LIMBLESS MAN..... SAFETY BRO....

That box is huge.

00:14 At first, I started to worry about those splines.
This is the quietest G56 I've ever Heard.
CliffordRam
Fresh lube change & electric motor with negligible pulses combined with the camera audio makes it nicer.
Mine is very quiet.

@@jjames5928 Yep, went from the OEM dual mass setup to a South Bend dual disc clutch. Gear rollover is rather noisy, BUT zero slippage!
@@ajs96350 Aside from putting through the neighborhood in 3rd(too slow) the trans is real quiet. I've used Amsoil 75-90-MTG for 7K now.
Those are the loudest transmission known to man.
Good way to get caught In that shaft.
