very cool! i just picked up a 01 1ton dually 24v 6spd manual truck :) needs a IP and a lift pump. cant wait to start on it and get it running! love watching your build man, keep em comin! :D
I did go and look and I would say that it would be a wiring issue, A cummins oil pump will not act like that if it went bad. It is a gear driven pump & no shaft to twist off. I do have a 97 that does the same thing with the water temp.
i hopeyou used red locktite on the flywheel bolts and a very light coating of grease to the input shaft, im sure ya did just didnt see in teh vid, but love the vid's man cant wait to hear this baby purr
I love working with clean parts the way you are. That's how it should be done! It was hard to see but you used grease on the pivot points for the shaft that presses the throwout bearing right?
A good tip also is to pull the seal on the Spigot bearing and pack some more high temp grease into it. We do it with every single one we do when we replace the clutch (always replace the bearing) and never have them fail!
Just wanted to say "another great vid" very informative and done on a laymens vocab so just about anybody can understand. On another note double disc clutch in a pickup, must have one horsey engine ahead of it. That's one stout clutch setup. Good Job!!!
Hey buddy I just pulled my afc houseing plug out and was looking and noticed that the spring was loose and I guess my fuel was cranked ALL the way up I tightened it back down so there ain't no play in that spring
After the truck is all done probably around 20 to 25 thousand. Keep in mind nothing is really free & still got to work to get the sponsors & all the foot work and wrenching.
Ok on our farm we made a good chevy with a cummins in it. It dosent go on the highway or on any roads. Its just an off road kinda truck that just helps move stuff around the truck. We run offroad diesal in it. Is that ok? it never leaves the farm
What bell housing and transfer case did you use. Did the NV4500 come out of a Dodge? I'm doing a Chevy/Cummins conversion and your videos have been a big help. Thanks.
Hey so what was the point of that aftermarket starter? was the flywheel a different tooth pattern? and is this a good set up for the average pepped up 12 valve you think? thanks man your vids are the best on the net!
The NV4500 5 speed had the same top & bottom gear ratio as the NV5600, & the NV4500 is by far the stronger transmission. You gain nothing by going with a NV5600 other than being the weak link.
You forgot to show people that the flywheel needs to be cleaned to make sure NO oil is on it.. Good video and glad that you used your gloves as most people do not know how dangerous Petrol Distillate can really be,
Excellent work Wayne! The quality of these videos is second to none! I think I speak on behalf of us all when I say that all this is much appreciated.
alligator performance's shop is a 15 minute drive away from me. awesome... been waiting for these guys to sponsor you.
Nice to see that SBC updated the flywheel with dowel pins for the middle flywheel and rubber buttons. no more chatter at idle :)
Another awesome video from The Diesel Stop! Can't wait to hear that thing run. Happy Fathers day Wayne. Rob

Plans change I will be putting the Black Betty motor into a crew cab short bed.

John you only have to run the adapter for the starter not the aftermarket starter. The kit will come with the spacer.

Yes the NV4500 came out of a 98 cummins & the bell housing too.
Thanks for the cool comment & stopping by.
Thanks for stopping by.
Can't wait to hear it run and go down the road. great vid
Ya that has me worried, Thanks for watching Steve
Yep the instructions say at low rpm it will, it said keep higher rpm.
Wow, Everything sure looks great! That is a pretty heavy combo, gonna be a work out for your cherry picker to lift it up into the frame.
Was going to be the Black Betty frame at one time but now it will be the Mahle Clevite frame.
For sure thanks for watching.
Interesting, I have never seen a dual disk clutch that small before. Everything looks good painted up.
It is next on the list, I will get this project done first then start the 1000HP Black Betty build.
Just wanted to say "another great vid" very informative and done on a laymens vocab so just about anybody can understand. On another note double disc clutch in a pickup, must have one horsey engine ahead of it. That's one stout clutch setup. Good Job!!!
Thanks but work is getting in the way & should have an update by this weekend.
I use a caustic soda base Hotsie soap then pressure wash it with 300 degree water with a 4 thousand psi tip.

Yes I do. Keep watching it's just around the corner.
good job bud glad to see your knees are holding up
Another awsome video! Thanks for the post and happy fathers day buddy
Yep the NV 4500 is a 5 speed.
Any NV4500 will bolt up to the cummins with the correct bell housing & input shaft.
Cant wait till this bad boys runnin, good work man!
Glad you got to see it here first.
Thanks & happy fathers to you as well.
Thanks for watching.

You are gonna put this motor in the 1.25 ton frame? I thought you were gonna use that frame as the Black Betty Frame and put a hot motor in it.
very good! im gonna head over to alligator performance and see what they have got
What bell housing and transfer case did you use. Did the NV4500 come out of a Dodge? I'm doing a Chevy/Cummins conversion and your videos have been a big help. Thanks.
I have not had a chance to mess with it. Busy working.
how is the black betty project coming, havent seen anything new for a while
Hey so what was the point of that aftermarket starter? was the flywheel a different tooth pattern? and is this a good set up for the average pepped up 12 valve you think? thanks man your vids are the best on the net!
Me too & thanks for watching.
Sure did, it is on there for good now.
Looks great man, is that motor going back into the tan truck?
Man Im ready to see some more videos I can't wait no longer Lol I'm eager Lol
You only have to run the adapter for the starter not the aftermarket starter.
That was perfect to that alligatorperformace standard transmission.
Happy fathers day big home , and once again another helpful vid have a good one
I am sure that you could put it behind that to.
Did you do anything about the 5th gear retaining nut?
Right on. Can't wait to see fired up..good job
I think because anything less than that it would bog the motor once you release the clutch, That's my best guess.
The red paint is for assembly reason?
what happened to the head with the intake plenum that had been shaved off?
Very cool! If I need to search performance crap for Scott's D-max 6.6 Alligator shows up 90% of the time. Gonna need one of those Gator shirts. lol
Yep maybe a crew cab.
where are the next videos I have seen 1-5 parts and south bend video?
Question - If you had a choice between an NV 4500 or an NV 5600 matched up to a 24v cummins which one would be best? Reliability wise.
now is this engine going into frame for black betty?
The NV4500 5 speed had the same top & bottom gear ratio as the NV5600, & the NV4500 is by far the stronger transmission. You gain nothing by going with a NV5600 other than being the weak link.
That is a nice looking clutch.
Thanks & good luck on your build as well.
I do have that blue/gray cab that I will be sandblasting.
Thanks buddy, I do recall that you were sub to my last channel as well.
How much do you think will be Invested into this project, value of freebee's Included ?
what exactly did you do to it get the different updted shaft or wield it?
You forgot to show people that the flywheel needs to be cleaned to make sure NO oil is on it.. Good video and glad that you used your gloves as most people do not know how dangerous Petrol Distillate can really be,
Trying to catch up ,Gerry
For sure.
coming soon.
How do you get people to sponsor you and send you free stuff like that?
Great job its looking good cant wait for the the video
south bend clutch has the diesel mud racer
why does the clutch have a minimum HP rating. 550-750 hp...? why not just 750hp?
Yea...also wondering about the starter.
Sorry but that is a HX35 that you have. I did go look at the video.
Thumbs up man!! Very nice project done right!!
Can you please pm me a web site to buy a 96 cummins 12 valve timeing gear houseing
Where do you live...... Heaven?
Nice clean assembly.
Thanks & same to you.
Great video!
That was how it was shipped to me.
the only pavement its ever gonna be on is the drive way but it is just strictly a farm truck. it aint even registered
Alright bud. Again it looks great.
Im getting excited!
Wow truly amazing work!
Sad thing is, I have to do this job today with a truck wrapped around everything and no hoist.
Thanks buddy me too.
Beautiful !!!
They come to me.
very good clutch.. good for racing my cummins..
Thank you.
