Most Americans don't really think about using their e-brake since most of our cars are automatic and have a parking gear that does the same thing. It could be the same in Europe but I have heard more people drive manual over there so I figured I'd explain anyways.
We still have parking brakes, that isn't a manual vs automatic thing. I'm not sure I've ever seen a car without a parking brake, ever...
Most Americans I know always use their parking brake when leaving the car, as well. You should probably check your car, because of you don't use it the car night roll away, and it sounds like you didn't know you have one.
@@ArtimidorusThe only people I have ever met who use the parking break are people with manual cars. Then again I live in an area with flat land so it probably is a bigger problem in areas that have a lot of steep hills.
@Artimidorus I am aware it exists but it isn't necessary in an automatic since putting it in park does the same thing since it essentially locks the transmission from spinning which in turn prevents the wheels from spinning also I live in Iowa which is pretty hilly in some parts yet I have never seen a situation where putting it in park didn't prevent it from rolling those guys in the video most likely either had a manual or maybe were in a hurry and didn't press the trigger on their shifter and accidentally left it parked there in neutral. And I know where my e-brake is. It is a lever next to the shifter or in my truck it is a pedal but I have never needed them.
