It is literally possible to have a honey allergy, they absolutely should at least ask first before making any sort of additions to someone’s food, my god! 💀💀💀 It totally could have been flirting but it’s not an overt queer thing either, he still should have just at least asked maybe in a cute flirty way if that was his goal
Yeah! I once ordered a coffee with soy milk and when it arrived the note said that they switched it to almond milk without letting me know because they ran out of soy. I was flabbergasted because so many people have a nut allergy and if I hadn't looked at the receipt I would have never noticed this change...
I legit think it was a mistake - I have had so many weird things happen to my coffee orders...something happens to baristas when they are making so many coffees a day... I think they can't help but do something weird from time to time. Lol! EDIT: nevermind! It may have been some weird form of flirting. I somehow missed Lando mentioning the Barista saying that he added it because he thought Lando would like it.

With the "I'll swing by" bit, I totally get where Lando is coming from but I totally understand Connor, as well. Lando saying, "I think I am just going to have a coffee" implies grabbing a coffee really quick - Connor saying "I'll swing by?" feels like he was saying he will "swing by" real quick since it felt that it would be a quick trip to the café to begin with.
Maybe? LOL! I understand both sides here, though - clearer communication next time, boys!

This was genuinely so funny to watch. For the honey in coffee, i feel like tampering with food even with a nice intention is a big no, because you never know what allergies those people have, what medication they might be taking. "would you like honey with it, its really good!" would be good instead. As a Turkish person, seeing "ottoman empire" give you guys 0 information was so funny lmaooo.
"I was working at Target and my coworker was trying to engage with someone cause he was building up his interaction skills, so he brought up this soccer jersey that he was getting in the mail. The customer didn't even react and started to walk away, but before they left, they started up a conversation with the next guy in line about some anime and hit it off with a great conversation, my coworker stopped bringing up soccer after that."

17:19 There are actually "flagging" systems in the gay community, like wearing one earring on a specific ear, or a coloured bandanna in a pocket to indicate certain preferences. They're mostly relics from the 70s when being gay was illegal, so a lot of younger gay guys don't know about them. That said, adding honey to someone's coffee isn't one of them. I think the barista was just flirting with you normally 😂

Ok to follow up on the anime topic, I actually have stopped watching anime and read more manga because I can control the pacing of manga and read as fast or as slow as I want. With anime, i'm stuck behind the director's pacing which could either be good, or be really slow (sometimes to the benefit of the show, ie. Steins;Gate or other times not, ie. Lucky Star)
I'm with Connor on "I'll swing by!" the context makes it sound like he means, he'll swing by and say hi at the coffee shop for a min and then leave!

If there was no previous clear agreement to pick someone else up and THEY made the plans, they should clarify that they want to meet up/be picked up. If I say I'll swing by, I mean I'm agreeing to show up to the last-minute plans for a short amount of time just to hang out with you.

Such a lovely opening episode! Loved the cute lil opening! Less than five minutes in and I was already grinning like an idiot before it evolved into full-fledged laughter (at 11PM)! You both bounce off each other so naturally and it made everything feel so cozy and warm! Honestly felt like I was in the room with y'all just watching in amusement. Banter's top-tier and it's such a treat being able to see and hear how cheery you make each other! Thanks for this and I'm looking forward to the upcoming episodes!

I agree with Connor. If no clear indication was made that implies being picked up, you should always assume they aren't coming to get you. Always ask first to save yourself the trouble of waiting needlessly.
About the anime conversation, I’ve also found myself having the same issue. As I’ve gotten older I find it harder and harder to connect with anime I don’t have a nostalgic connection to. Connor is so right, anime has a formula a lot of the time, and the repetitiveness of seasonal anime doesn’t appeal to me like it used to. Maybe I should start reading manga too, seems like the perfect in between! Looking forward to what the podcast will bring in the future!! Loved the first episode y’all! 🙏🏻🧡

I understand Connor's mindset on "I'll swing by?" thing. I could absolutely see it as him meaning swing by the end destination and not to pick Lando up. I probably wouldn't read it that way at first though, but there might be enough ambiguity for me to text back "so you picking me up then?" or so.
Unironically Dungeon Meshi is one of my favorite Animus/Mangos of all time. I loved the LAIOS WE HAVE TO COOK silly stuff but it just goes off the rails in a good way and becomes a fantasy epic with world ending horrors and literal existential nightmares/threats. unironically if you don't like the goofy cooking stuff then it gets good after like 9 or 10 episodes. But you should like the goofy cooking stuff too.

Congratulations you guys! The jingle at the beginning is so cute! Nowhere did it feel like you guys were first-timers at a podcast. The conversations were well paced and interesting, you guys turned mundane and awkward situations that we can relate to into hilarious narratives and of course, personally, I get to see my two favourite streamer boys interact and laugh with each other and have a good time. Definitely crossed a line with the honey. It could be a really bad thing especially if someone is diabetic. But regardless, it wasn't what you ordered and paid for. If they had given you something on the side, something that was separate from what you paid for, that would be different

After enjoying the podcast listening on Spotify prior I stand by my review on X. The animations and having the visual experience on set just adds to the feeling of hanging out with you two. I am still in stitches and smiling as I am having my breakfast. It's super HQ and yes I agree that if someone says "I'll swing over" I would assume they were heading over and wait at the door until the last possible moment. That being said I love how natural everything is and your humor. It's definitely a 5 star experience.

(nonverbatim) makes me assume that connor was going to visit the cafe for a short period of time and meet Lando there. but because he said, "I can swing by?" with a question mark, that makes me think he's asking for permission to swing by your place, because what other reason would you have to ask to swing by? lol

the name thing is so relatable because I’ll hear someone’s name 500 times and still be like “but what if that’s not their name..”
Wonderful first episode, loved everything from beginning to end! The opening with the little song and animation is so cool, the animation was so smooth and the song catchy! Barely started listening and was already laughing so hard, seeing you both grin is infectuous! You two have great synergy together, being able to create such engaging banter - it made it feel like I was coming along for the ride, sitting there watching you bounce off each other.
Topic wise there is so much to cover, I'm still not over the first one about "swinging by" as a phrase; it piqued my curiosity as someone who has studied translation/languages. Along the way, the phrase formed such a vivid, silly image in my mind of "swinging by the end destination" in a manner of getting on a catapult and being yeeted. The rest was a mix of very relatable stories as well as stuff that made you raise your head in question, such as the Disney smell machines or driving a car into Target if there was a way to do it. The more you know! Loved the small Disney movie section, you both have great tastes in movies! That said, Lando's great at telling stories, he has a way of making you want to listen until the end. Very much enjoyed the section with viewer submitted questions, too! How has Connor never had a smoothie in his entire life, he's missing out on greatness. Also love the premise of crowning the winner after everything is done, Lando rightfully won this round.

I- don’t think I’ve watched anime since before the pandemic. If you don’t like something from the start, I say just don’t bother - there’s no point forcing yourself, when time is limited enough as it is. Go do something you’ll actually enjoy! (Caveat, I don’t really care for trends or what’s popular though.)

An interesting take I've heard on Lando's comment at 1:02:01 from a number of different people in one form or another is that while anime as we think of it has been around since the 60s, as Connor implies at 1:02:29 as with any media certain expectations and tropes have grown in the genre and formed into a general format and feel for especially a lot of the single season shows, making anything that goes even slightly against this stand out all the more.
Further, the producers and directors who are now overseeing new shows are old enough to have grown up with only this type of anime as an influence, and may deliberately or subconsciously bring this bias to their productions regardless of the source material. I agree with the comment about reading more manga as while it certainly has its own issues, you'll run in to far more creative concepts given the hurdles of making a work profitable are much lower.
