      What an album. Used to set up my concert JBL's in the front yard and play this on the "strip" in my small home town and people would drive by, honk and wave. That was in the 70s. Man ,what a time!

    The lead guitarist on this song, Gary Richrath (RIP) was a criminally underrated guitarist. This was the more commercial album that took them over to really great success. Some of their other great songs include "Golden Country," "Keep Pushin'," "157 Riverside Avenue," "Riden' the Storm Out," "Like You Do," and the instrumental "Flying Turkey Trot," which allows Gary to show his guitar chops.

    REO was one of those bands that both the guys and girls wanted to hear back in the 80's. An REO Speedwagon is a classic old school classic truck, interesting history lesson if ya look it up and read about it. From someone who grew up with this band at the peak of their popularity in the early 80's, if you want to review the bands best songs, then look up "Time for Me to Fly" from '78 or "Take it on the Run" from 1980. Those, in my opinion are the bands two best overall songs. But anything from either of those albums "You Can Tune a Piano but ya can't Tuna Fish" (1978) or "Hi Infidelity" (1980) is a winner in my book.

      I can remember this one from the "mid-70's" and remember seeing that they were "Headlining" the "Shell Club", in Shirley, MA one night, in either 1976 or 7... I had the desire to go, but, can't remember why I did not! (After thinking about that, for a while; I'm pretty sure I was working 4×days a week in Groton and 3×nights a week, in Tyngsborough!).... {Man, THAT'LL really "cut into your drinking time" in a serious way!!!}

    REO Speedwagon was my first real concert. It was somewhere around 1985 in Fargo, North Dakota. The opener was a guy named Richard Marx. My friend had his farmer's drivers license so we got tickets and drove an hour to see the show. His brother had recently come home from a hitch in the Navy and had brought home a few souvenirs, which included some super-duty smoke bombs. Partway into the second song by Marx, a smoke bomb was ignited. The show stopped, the house lights came up, and the place was filled with smoke and cops. About 45 minutes later, REO came onstage and did their thing. Good times.
    REO is playing an outdoor venue in my small Idaho town this summer. If I get the chance, I wanna ask the guys if they recall the smoke bomb incident in Fargo 38 years ago.

    Try "Riding the storm out" when this song came on at a party in the 70's the volume went straight to 10. One of the all time great party song written about a night the band spent snowed in at an airport in the Rocky mountains. You mentioned strange band names but the name of the album the song you just listened to is one of the strangest "You can tune a piano but you can't tuna fish" was the album title.

    Too bad the "changes" they were talking about was their change in their overall product with "Hi Infidelity" It got them their
    well-deserved millions but was a drastic change to the dark side of HI. I bought the album the day it was released. Listened
    to it twice and sent it to my 12-year-old sister and said you're gonna love this. She didn't. She couldn't even believe it was REO.
    THIS was the good stuff. It's a crime they're not in the R&R HOF
    They're playing with STYX soon at The Sparks Nugget. If anyone gets the chance before it's too late.

    This is their transition song which still rocked hard but was drifting toward commercial which is what they became after this. I think you would like some of their earlier stuff. Check out "Golden Country" and "157 Riverside Avenue" from the '70s.

    Just a great rock and roll song. My fav is "Riding the Storm Out" live. Seen them in their heyday. Nothing groundbreaking, but always a pleasure.

      @rogueleader4181 I saw them back in 1972 along with Joe Walsh and Barnstorm. Gary said that some of their gear was stolen, including the keyboard/synthesizer, so hearing "Riding The Storm Out" minus that keyboard intro was odd, to say the least. But they still cranked it. If I could find my ticket stub, I think it says it cost $4 to see two bands.

    Name of the band came from a history of transportation class taken by one of the founding members
