RUSH is one of the reasons why bands like TOOL exist. Danny and Neil where good friends. You've also just discovered the greatest drummer ever to bless music. You sat there speechless through the whole song rush is now about to own stock in your life.... You will be thankful my friend.
Welcome to a Rabbit hole that will last forever with Rush. RIP Neal Peart arguably the best drummer of all time. So glad you finally reacted to them. Sings to react to Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Spirit of the Radio, Red Barchetta, La Villa Strangiato, working man, Closer to the heart. And YYZ live in Rio will blow your mind. Love the channel 😁❤️
R.I.P. Professor....sorely missed. I saw them 3 times this album was my first Rush Show. Just a humungous catalog of great music. Moving Pictures and Permanent Waves and 2112 are all masterpieces. Such a classy group that I never ever get tired of listening to.
Omg you're finally doing Rush. They have 19 studio albums. Countless amazing songs. I'm glad you liked them .there's live stuff dating back to 1974 with them until 2015.
Rush is the greatest band of all time and space!!! Tool, Primus, and countless others owe so much of their success to their love of this incredible band.
Great reaction! Rush were huge influences on Tool & Primus. My personal favorite band comprised of 3 master musicians. Check out Xanadu live from the Exit Stage Left concert… you won’t be disappointed
That version of Xanadu IS great but I still prefer the original studio recording and I feel that way about most, if not all, of their longer epic pieces.
The kit for The Professor was not only massive, he *used* all of it. I've said on on other reaction videos, he may not be your favourite drummer, but there is a good chance he is your favourite drummer's favourite drummer.
Oh boy I'm so excited for you.Your entering the Rush rabbit hole.Lots of mind blowing reactions to come.I became a fan at age 9 when I heard my older brothers album Moving Pictures.
Of all the great Rush songs, this wouldn't have been my first choice to introduce you to their music. I think I would have started with Tom Sawyer or Working Man but if I had to recommend one song that is a must listen, it's my favorite, Red Barchetta.
I’ve stood just feet from them playing when we were all kids, comparatively, and saw us all change over decades of live shows. This is, IMHO, their best song, one in an endless volume of transcendently great music. RIP, Neil.
I have been following you on your Tool journey, and it should be known that Danny Carey lists Neil Peart ( the drummer here from Rush, may he RIP) as one of his main influences. Known as "the professor", he is one of the best you will ever see behind the kit, as is the rest of the musicians in Rush. Geddy Lee on the bass, lead vocals, keys, and even pedals, and Alex Lifeson on the guitar. Be warned, like Tool the rabbit hole for Rush is HUGE. The more you listen, the more you will become a fan of the band. If you want to see the insane musicianship of this band, you should react to the live version of Xanadu, and the studio version of Spirit of Radio. They will blow your mind. There are many, many others to hear, but that is a good starting point to see just how good they are. Later you will discover the epic 2112, Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, The Trees, Big Money, New World Man, Red Sector A, Anthem, Animate, YYZ, Roll the Bones, Limelight etc. The list goes on and on. Enjoy the journey, you won't be disappointed.
Thanks for doing some Rush! Individually all great musicians with an amazing body of work. As far as drumming goes, Neil Peart (The Professor) was one of the finest drummers to have ever played the drums, and has influenced many that followed, including one of your favorites, Danney Carey from Tool. Please check out their live performance of Xanadu if you really want to see them at their musical peak!
Yo! Polo! Im 45 and got into Rush around 15-16 years old. They are among Canadas’ best exports of all time. If yo wanna get real, check out the album “A Farewell to Kings”. I was fortunate enough to see them back in around 2002-2003 at The Gorge in George, WA. I always liked Rush but it wasn’t until I saw Geddy Lee playing the bass with hammer-ons, playing keyboard, using foot pedals and singing all at the same time that I realized how AWESOME HE IS! Not to mention the others in the band.
POLO you’re awesome! Your reaction videos feel truly genuine. Your vid’s have opened my eyes. The music you react to is mostly the music I love and grew up with. What you’ve done for me is opening my mind to other genres and artists. I’m a metal head but there are so many true artists out there that I haven’t discovered. Thank you for being you.
Obviously you saw the love and admiration for this great band, even in Holland 🇳🇱 Master musicians who broke the mold and inspired generations! Geddy Lee had/has a voice you either loved or hated. Nei Peart, the Professor, not only set a new standard for drummers, was a master lyricist. Alex Lifeson, often overlooked, was one of the most influential guitarist among guitarists. Old Rush, not so old Rush, enjoy the ride! Your world is about to change!
Your introduction to Rush was the same as mine! Subdivisions was the first song I can remember hearing from them back when I was a Junior in High School in 1982. I was blown away, even more when I found out they'd been around since 1974 and had somehow flown under my musical radar. So much great music and power from three guys!
was lucky enough to see them on their very last tour here in Toronto and it was by far the best concert i have ever been to, from the song selection to the stage set up just amazing from start to finish.
RUSH LIVE……I was lucky enough to see one of the last shows before Neil died at SPAC N.Y. Simply the most talented three man band ever. Incredible performances every time. “In eight years I’ll be seventy one, I can play Charlie Watts drum parts when I’m seventy one, I can’t play Neil Peart’s drum parts when I’m seventy one” - Neil Peart at sixty three.
🇨🇦🤟🏼My boys. Lost count after my 14th live show..incredible musicians, one and all. I’ve never been so affected by the death of someone I did not know personally, as I was when Neil passed. I guess I can pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend.
Before there was Danny Carey there was Neil Peart…absolutely amazing drummer As great of a live band that Rush is I think the studio version of this song is better. I wouldn’t mind a second listen of the same song (hint hint)
Agreed, the are one of the best live bands ever but also a band that should get studio listens first. One exception I think is of course Xanadu Exit Stage Left
Oh my God being there is so much good Rush, they were so groundbreaking and have a lot of different sounds over a lot of different years. Rest in peace Neil Peart, one of the greatest drummers ever. He died recently. And I know what you mean about Geddy Lee's bass playing, I love his bass playing so much. He is just beyond, butall of these guys multitask like crazy. They were just a three-piece. But they brought the sound of a seven-man band. Because they could all multitask and still make it real. For a really hard rocking vanger, to show you what they're capable of, but it still has a fantastic and positive message, check out something for nothing from side B of The Rush 2112 album from 1976. Side A is a concept album which I have heard people react to the whole thing and you pretty much have to do the whole side of the album. It's basically a play in seven chapters and it's kind of science fiction and its groundbreaking and it's wonderful and it will take you on an entire journey. But then side B is these standalone hits, and every single one of them is fire in its own way.
Listen to the song La Villa Strangiato it's a long song with many time changes and some absolutely ridiculous guitar by Alex , it is a masterpiece of music!!!!
When I was 19 I had a Monte Carlo with 6 speakers and a sub... I remember specifically pulling into a ga station with this at 11 on the volumes in the $$ part of town and got the looks we give people today for vibrating every car around them bumpin tha bass, but back in 1991. Ahhhh.... memories..
I can't believe you haven't stumbled upon Rush while exploring Tool. I discovered Rush in 1978 and they've accompanied me my entire life. Even with Neil's passing the music relates to me like no other band has. There is so much to explore. It depends on where you want to begin. Subdivisions was 80s but the performance you're watching was later. I would recommend their do-or-die-moment opus 2112 as your next deep dive. I say deep because it's a 20 minute piece. Whatever you choose, you won't go wrong.
The album version of this puts me right back into growing up in the subdivisions in the 80s. This whole album is so very underrated, if there is such a thing for Rash albums.
If it’s underrated, my guess would be because of the album it was following up. _Signals_ is great, but _Moving Pictures_ is certainly not an easy act to have to follow.
Oooh! Are you diving into Rush? Witch Hunt was their song that really moved me! But not live….sound doesn’t always carry over well in a live recording. Rush’s sound is amazing!
Great reaction!! It's awesome that you have discovered Rush. I discovered them, in my early teens and they've been my favorite band, ever since. This is a great song, but not very successful, commercially. I think you would like a few more songs, from this album...Analog Kid, Digital Man, Losing It and Countdown. At some point, you must listen to Tom Sawyer!! It's arguably, their best song and most commercially successful. See what you think.
Listening to Subdivisions in the car will be great because you'll actually hear the original studio recording from 1982. There's several awesome live Rush recordings but this wasn't one of them!
One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite band. Incredible, clever lyrics and a real tight sound from the band. I will say that I much prefer the studio track to this particular live performance, so you should check it out.
Rush were something else. All three members are at the very top of the pyramid when talking about their respective instruments. Neil is almost undisputed in drumming circles. Geddy is one of the monsters of bass guitar. Alex humbles guitarists by his ability to fill all the space the band needs and his just broad range of styles and sounds. Their music is like porn to musicians. When you next go for a half hour drive somewhere, put "2112" on and turn it up. That's 21 minutes and 12 seconds of something only Rush can pull off.
Rush is simply one of the best bands that has ever existed. Inspired by prog kings Yes and inspired so many other groups. Need to listen to 2112 and spirit of the radio or basically anything
Your journey will be opposite of mine as a 40-year RUSH fan with 19 shows attended and 35 RUSH shirts in my closet, I only found TOOL after RUSH ended. I've followed your rock music journey through the various artists thinking when we get to RUSH And now you're here. Hopefully the recommendations that you get are sound and you stick with their better known hits until you get familiar with their style. Too often I've seen deep cuts recommended and then folks don't understand what they're listening to. For me, I think you should listen to the first side of 2112 next to get a good feel for what RUSH is about. 🤘🏼💯

Love the change on your face when Neil Peart show his mastery..
Best 3 piece band of all time! RIP NEAL PEART aka The Professor 🙏
Rush is one of the very best bands to ever exist.
if not the very best of them all... only time and majority opinion will tell!
This is a hard one. I rank them with Pink Floyd. They are really close.
I have to strongly agree that they are the best. I saw them over 20 times. Incredible performers.
@@jevs402 I saw them at R30 UK a privilege i will never forget..
And they're thinking a Rush without Neil nowadays. Lews love their money
Three of the most talented musicians ever. Can NOT believe the music that only 3 can produce.
Totally respect the tempo change ups.
Neal Peart passing left a huge hole in the drum community. Loved and respect by all. Rip Neal!
He was one of the greatest of all time. I can't think of many drummers whose skill surpass Neal's.
@@Eric-yt7fp lt's a waste of thought my friend!!! He is the professor he is the formula.
Neil is irreplaceable, but with his passing, I believe the greatest living drummer torch has been passed to Danny Carey.
Rush in my opinion is the greatest 3 piece band of all time.
Seen them live three times , on point every time. One of the greatest 🙌
"Conform or be cast out" - timeless lyrics from 3 of the best musicians ever.
As good a line as "if you choose not to decide you still have made a choice."
Both of these are timeless and poignant lines 🤘🤘
This song hit me hard as a teenager. I was more into punk and metal, but this still got to me. The lyrics probably paved the way quite a bit though :)
