Absolutely fantastic in concert. Blazing Your Own Trail Again. Take It On the Run. Time For Me To Fly. Riding The Storm Out. They have so many great songs. The Unidentified Flying Tuna Trot - Instrumental.
This is the epitome of rock in the 70s and 80s. Synthesizers, awesome vocals, amazing guitar riffs, and big hair. Love it. I feel blessed to have lived through that era. In my 50s now and rolling with the changes. I enjoy watching younger generations connect with this music. God bless.
Oh boy what a trip down memory lane!!! I was in my early twenties when this come out... but my favourite one of them was and still is "Keep on loving you". they were great!
Hello Dereck,i love the good old songs so much.Especially when they are played live. This is one of them. But when the songs came out,i was too young to understand how great they are. That realization struck me, a lot later.Unfortunately!!!Thank you for your reaction Dereck!🐬💝
Nazareth... Hair of the dog Blue oyster cult... Don't fear the reaper or Godzilla. Personal favorite.then came the last days of May. Especially if you find the right version.
Brings back great memories, I would go to the armory in Racine, Wisconsin and hear them live for FREE, they’re out of Chicago, and would play in Racine. Good old College days
One of my favorite songs, but the music is the studio cut, not a live cut, even though they are doing a concert. How do I know? Because I've played the studio cut over 100 times. Most live performances have noticeable differences; tempo slower or faster, instruments not quite even (maybe bass a bit too much) and the vocals are almost always different. And then the crowd noises potted up, then down. Oh, I'm 73 and have been around long enough to know differences. If you listen to REO's live versus studio cut of "Ridin' The Storm Out," you can immediately tell it's really a live cut...how the synthesizer starts out completely different from the studio cut. Among other things.
This was one of my favorite songs for a minute. I love the change over from Neil on the piano/keyboard to Gary(RIP) guitar. Too bad the "changes" they were talking about was their change in their overall product with "Hi Infidelity" It got them their well deserved millions but was a drastic change to the dark side with HI. That's why Gary left the band. I bought the album the day it was released. Listened to it twice and sent it to my 12 year old sister and said you're gonna love this. She didn't. She couldn't even believe it was REO. THIS was the good stuff. It's a crime they're not in the R&R HOF Saw them three times baby.😎😎😎
If you haven't yet, check out Boston: Long Time & Foreigner: Long, Long way From Home. Same late '70's era, both great rock songs. Give a listen to Van Halen: Right Now. Another great one.
The hair back then was very excessive, and this band had the fortune of very long and thick curly hair. They still had a similar style in "Can't fight this Feeling" several years later. They don't seem to give the listener any brake in this song :)
Actually, unless they can exactly recreate their studio performances, this is the studio version played over a live show, I think. With the beginning intro from the show left in. Not only is it exactly the same as the studio, if you watch them playing, they aren’t doing exactly what we’re hearing. Not that that diminishes the song at all. Just sayin. I’ve seen tons of live shows and it’d be almost impossible to be exactly like the studio version like this.
OP is correct. This is note for note the radio cut. And some of the performance on stage is out of synch. Guitarist is in a slide when the note is a hammer down, etc. Drummer is on a tom when he out to be on his crash cymbal… you get the picture. I, also, don’t care. They made the song. It’s theirs. No debate. If they’re having fun, I couldn’t care less. re: @Bear78420

Blazing Your Own Trail Again.
Take It On the Run.
Time For Me To Fly.
Riding The Storm Out.
They have so many great songs.
The Unidentified Flying Tuna Trot - Instrumental.
The live version has so much more heart than the studio version. 70’s and 80’s were loaded with talent.
“Ain't nobody who talks with his guitar like Gary does!”

Gary Richrath - one of, if not *the* the most underrated guitarist in all of music history 🤌👌
I was 16 when this song came out and it pumped me up like crazy and still does; glad to see our youth getting it.
Kevin Cronin was a folk singer who joined a hard rock band. That combo is what created Reo’s unique sound.
I saw REO around 76-77. Had a unknown band opening for them. Molly Hatchet. Out of the 40+ concerts I've seen, this was one of the best
Oh the 80's, the era of big hair, and boy was some of it really big! GREAT REACTION DERECK!
If you want to understand and feel the USA Midwest heartland, this is it.
Hell yeah! Midwestern rock n roll, baby!!!
Love this song all their rock songs .
Oh boy what a trip down memory lane!!! I was in my early twenties when this come out... but my favourite one of them was and still is "Keep on loving you". they were great!

My favorite song from when i was a kid my parents would always play their music
Oh man they have a lot of good songs you should check out. Take It On The Run rocks too.
I saw them in 1981. Great live band. Check out stuff from their "HI InFidelity" album. Lots of hits, starting with "Keep On Loving You"
Enjoyed the song and your reaction. Saw them in Vail so many years ago I can’t do the math.
How about one of the best groups of the seventies. Deep Purple LAZY
Genius song….has it all.

Same devolution happened with Chicago.

They erased the intro to the song. You really should do a re-watch of the Live-Aid version.
Great band and song to react to. Keep it up. You should react to Triumph live.
👍🏻
I always thought Kevin Cronin looked alot like Brian May of Queen 😅
The hair back then was very excessive, and this band had the fortune of very long and thick curly hair.

Dude might be related to another announcer we all know ;)
Please react to gjon's tears "pure" 💪💪💪💪

I love REO, but you can tune a fish...you just play its scales!!
Background image in your video, the lady in the black jacket on bottom right, is that Mylene Farmer?

This wasn't the studio version at all. If you listen to the studio version, it has a longer intro than this. It is live, just as you heard it.
