  • Can you start on a 600cc motorcycle? One of you guys asked in the comment section this morning if you could buy a 600cc sport bike as a first bike. Well the way ask a motorcycle guy works is you ask, and I give you my honest opinion!
    I think that it is best to start on a small motorcycle if you can, however if you think you are responsible enough to accept the risk of starting with a performance motorcycle, then that is a decision you can make! I don't recommend them for a beginner motorcycle, but it can be done if you are careful.
    If you do choose a 600cc sport bike as your first motorcycle, please be careful!
    Leave more questions, and I do videos for more answers!

      All good man, like I said you can definitely do it, you just have to be careful and understand it's riskier, totally up to you!

      Alex Simmons again, thanks for answering my question. Ended up buying a 2015 Ninja 300 SE for a little over $3000. Only 1000 miles on it. Dealer had it priced at $4250. Talked him down and even got him to throw in a cover and helmet if I promised to buy it that day. Can’t wait to put my personal touch on it with some mods.

    Alex -- what cap are you wearing in this vid? You've worn it before, I think, and it looks really sharp. And yeah...you can start on a 600 if you're careful and use your head...remember I jumped from a 49cc Vespa to the Kawi 2K after not riding a motorcycle for over 35 years! (Yes, I did take an MSF course...I'm crazy, but I'm not stoopid!)

      It’s actually good it doesn’t have as much power as an inline-4 engine. But you might wanna consider Ninja 400. It just depends, best thing you could do is to go to a dealership and sit on the bike. Just try to feel it.

    Sorry if I come across stupid I have been putting off doing my bike test for years and feel now I really want to do it I dont like the idea of getting a 125 as they cost more than most bigger bikes then the thought of selling it again I've had car licence for 17 years I'm level headed n not an idiot who will hold throttle wide open everywhere I go the bike I like is the cbr 600 so is that an ok bike to start with I will respect the bike and power and be extremely careful

    Hmmm. Hi sir alex, good day! Im thinking to buy a 600cc. But im not a beginner rider. . I am riding 125cc everyday. What would you recommend as my first BIG BIKE? ✌️ Thanks. Im inlove with 4cyclinder big bikes. I already experience ninja400, w800, and z1000 but in a limited time only. Ive handled it properly. 😉✌️ What would you recommend that is more user friendly?

    The question is I started with a 125cc but it wasnt even a sportbike but I still have an idea of how dangerous it is compared to a car. I am responsable and I really want a r6 that will be 35kw for two years do you think it is possible

  • @TerryBollea1

    How bout Im 255lbs, and live in Colorado, where every dealer tells me the smaller bikes wont get up a hill cause how high up we are. Plus my weight bottoms out rear shocks on anything under a 600.

    • @AlexSimmons11c
      @AlexSimmons11c  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I've ridden a lot of smaller bikes over here in Smokies etc, but I weigh a little less. Most of your twin cylinder bikes will have more torque and will allow you to have a bigger motor without as much risk (things just happen a lot faster on a 4-cylinder, they are less forgiving in general if a mistake is made).
      In your case if you are just bigger and you need more power for the area you ride, like in the mountains for example, then you can get a bigger bike. Just be careful and keep the rubber side down! Bikes like the Fz-09/MT-09 and similar should have plenty of torque to do what you want, or there are lots of mid-size sport bikes with plenty of power.

    • @TerryBollea1
      @TerryBollea1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alex Simmons Most magazines classify 600 sport bikes as "mid weight". But I think I got ya. Whatcha think of the CBR 650f? I dont want a naked bike, so FZs are no go. I was strongly considering a CBR 500r, but again, I sit on one, and the rear just sinks right down.

    • @TerryBollea1
      @TerryBollea1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To whoever just "liked" this thing. I got a Ninja 400. It runs beautifully. Just up the preload to 2 or 3 and your fine there. Engine runs great, and plenty of torque to keep up and pass traffic at under 70mph. Havnt done any pure highway runs, but I have a big street that is 65mph, and I was fine. Just gotta be careful getting on the throttle. Its so light it will try to take off without you if your not leaned over the front. For some reason no one on the internet mentions that.

    i am 15 and wondering what age i can legally ride a 600cc. they are very different but i ride 450cc motocross bikes so i understand i need to be careful on power delivery.

    • @AlexSimmons11c
      @AlexSimmons11c  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well if you are in the U.S. you can't buy one yourself until you are 18. I believe in most states you can get a regular motorcycle license at 16 (again depends on your state), but unless a relative will buy it for you then it'll be 18 years old in the U.S.

    For my first bike i was thinking about getting an fz07 or a 600. I grew up riding on the back of my dads supersports and on dirtbikes and everywhere i look people say that the fz07 is like the perfect beginner bike, but i really would like to get a 600. Would you suggest getting an fz07 over a 600

    • @AlexSimmons11c
      @AlexSimmons11c  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delayed response Gage, I've been away! I would definitely recommend an FZ07/MT07 over a standard 600cc sport bike since it is a twin, and the twins tend to be a little more forgiving when mistakes are made, unless you can find a good 600cc twin or a bike in the same category as the MT07 like an SV650, Ninja 650, CBR650, you get the idea

    Can you start on a Daytona 675

    • @AlexSimmons11c
      @AlexSimmons11c  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can start on any motorcycle in theory, so yes, BUT it’s not always a good idea to start on a bike like the 675 because it tends to accelerate quickly, and has very sport oriented handling characteristics. So you CAN but I don’t recommend it as it will punish your for mistakes
