Startup culture is not that developed in IIT Roorkee as compared to bombay and delhi (here coding and getting a job thinking is more popular) but things are changing, though you can come to IIT Roorkee although not at level as that of Bombay and delhi you will definitely get full support to grow your startup, new director of IITR is also very supportive of students doing startup and also Economics + Startup is a very superb combination in itself

I have doubt... requesting you to please help me out with that ... I am bcom student (3rd yr) preparing for iit jam economics 2025 ... I should go ahead woth prepration for it as in 10 +2 i didn't have maths also with context to this , will it be hard to survive for at IITs bcz of avg calculation skill
Sooner iits will start ba Sanskrit and fee will be very nominal just 5lakh per semester, logic will be for quality education this is very low amount.
I am an economics graduate and post graduate, both from Delhi University, to clear the Myth, you use less than 1% of your economics in private sectors, especially in foreign banks...

Bro if you consider Econ. has one of those qualitative papers you should probably research properly and know why IIT has Economics major 😂
Try dealing with econometrics, Data analysis, Maths and stats for economics and you'll know why There is Economics in IIT, its not similar with those qualitative papers..

Yes, coding jobs require skill branch will not be a problem in IIT's

Hello brothers. I had some doubts. Is bs degree considered somewhat of less importance by recruiters? Also, what are the future prospects of the branch as compared to civil,chem, especially in terms of placements.
A majority of the selection process depends on your resume and interview skills. Only a few companies choose to not be open for economics students

You can get a good job in quant firm even if you are not in Economics, but pursuing economics gives you a better understanding of financial systems and policies

@@abcde.371 Eco graduates are basically a part of policy frame working etc, but since you are gonna be part of IIT you will get the benefits of joining quant firms but the requirements will be the same for all students regardless of the branch

You need to qualify JEE Advanced. Same eligibility criteria as other UG branches.

not much difference in the course structure, but there are several perks by joining IITR Economics
Also do consider size of both campuses IIT Roorkee is very compact and beautiful campus so IIT kgp is very big in size

It is definitely very beneficial. Doing MS gives you advantage of additional one year to prepare for placements and some extra knowledge of masters but only bachelor's also has its benefit, just directly get good placement after BS or pursue masters from abroad. And definitely choose IITB over IITR in any case

You can consider Economics as optional for UPSC. In IIT's you will be provided with enough resources to have crystal clear understanding of economics

Yes, you can, at least in IIT Roorkee. You can read the branch change rules for other IITs as well.

KGP economics is one of the oldest economics among IITs, surely you can go for it, but you should consider Economics in IITR as well
