This is my exact condition right now like having good rank in jee mains and bad rank in advance and I have same options available what she had.

Can economics branch students sit for placements in software and coding roles ?
Most probably not, maybe finance related job roles, you could apply off campus if you can prove your skills in cs.
@@hari0794 please do not spread misinformation. About 50% economics students at iit Kanpur got placed in coding roles (information from their official website)
Most software companies are open for all branches in iits during the placements, especially at iit Kharagpur where about 50% overall students get IT/software roles

Almost 99% companies are open for all branches . They have no branch criteria. Yes Economics students can sit and infact they do very well because they have courses related to programming and have also learned DSA( which is very useful in placements).
Furthermore Economics is the most chill branch in IITK so they have much free time to excel in other activities (like enhancing their coding skills , Holding position of responsibility and other co- curricular activities etc.)than to study outdated course curriculums( which are not for learning but only to get good CPI).
And also I would like to tell u that Average package of economics department is far better than core branches like mechanical chemical civil etc .

@@onkarsingh8358 yes! Branch aur degree both change ho jaati hai after branch change (they’re the same thing)
@dank S Anyways, yes it’s possible if you get an exceptional CGPA in the first year . But I think you shouldn’t bet on that risk. Like don’t rely solely on the branch change when choosing your branch.Because getting a branch change is very difficult and only a few students from each department manage to successfully change their branches to their desired branch. The environment in iits especially during the first year, is very distracting.
With that said, whether you’re expecting a branch change or not- stick to the older/top 7-10 iits because when it comes to placements a majority of the students go for non core placements in finance/consulting and software which are open to all branches. Core placements are usually barely around 20% even in iits.
Though it all comes down to your interest, if you want to pursue a career/higher education in core mechanical then good luck with the branch change!!

Dear Sir,
We mentioned that the package would be even better than the core branches at IITs. Exact amount would differ every year as per the scenario that is why it won't be the right metric to judge. We also discussed about the type of jobs that are available after this degree (core economics and non core). If you still have some question we would request you to clearly mention that so that we can try to answer that

Not in iit because you have to clear jee advanced for that and you need pcm in 12th
You can apply for Msc in Economics from IIT Delhi,in order to get their you just have to clear IIT Jam exam 😅
Mam...I'm pursuing BA (hons.) In sociology (BHU)I have economics in my core ...Am I eligible for dse or iit jam....I asked my pro. in order to change my hons she said that in last year university issue's application then the hons will be change , if they not hons will not change....So I'm asking to you that what are my chances to get admission in dschools or iit for MAorMSC in economic by sociology hons.??.,plzzz guide !!!!
