I take a spray bottle with me everywhere I go, even if I'm not painting. Someone bothering you at work? Just spritz them a little and they run away. Someone trying to get on your elevator when it's already full? You guessed it, just spritz them a little. Problem solved.
I'm thinking about making value scales with some common pigments and taking pictures with it next to a regular grayscale value chart, then making the photo grayscale. Just to get to know some common pigments and their value range. Have you ever done something like this?
Yes, great idea! Don't forget, the pigment straight out of the tube is the max darkness. Some pigments will not even go over 3/4. So if you want to get darker with them, you can add similar hues that can actually go up to 8/9 etc. For example, yellow Ochre, you can go up to max in pure and then start adding b.sianna, or anything else, experiment what works what does not. 👍
