@@LoisDavidsonArt it was just as hard as I had imagined, but not as catastrophic as I had feared ! I should have made a cardboard pattern for one or two types of leaves because as it is there are some pieces of leaves of unknown origin 🤣
Negative painting can be so hard and most videos I have ever watched on it can be overwhelming with all the numbers so on. This gave a funny eady way of doing it that isnt intimidating. Thank you.
This is so beautiful it’s inspired me to have a go 😊 I have a photo of some acer leaves that fell into a little pond I have in my garden and I’ve been trying to find a way of capturing the image in paint and now I have it, thank you so much 🥰
This video was so inspiring and informative for me. I have just begun nature journaling with watercolour and feeling very excited about the journey I am beginning. I expect to learn a lot.
How do you paint a negative painting or fine-pointed object? Do you start with the tip or go further down and go up to the tip of the leaf? I am having difficulty doing fine detailed pointed tips of leaves, flowers, stars etc. and keeping the tip crisp. I use a fine brush for detailed work. The tips are not sharp enough. Why are you using such poor paper that is difficult to work with? I have some old watercolour paper in a roll. Is there a possibility for an old watercolour paper to break down the sizing? My paper doesn't seem to hold any water but buckles badly. It is a good Bee paper 140lb CP paper.
@@snuuby5468 it takes lots of practice, start wherever you feel comfortable, there’s no set rule for negative painting, everyone finds their own way. Use good quality watercolour paper, we always use 100% cotton paper, either Saunders Waterford, Millford or Canson Moulin du Roy. Poorly stored paper can become damaged over time .
How should I have stored my watercolour paper roll? How does poorly stored paper break down? Should I throw it out or use it to swatch out paint when mixing paints?
This is just beautiful! Thank you!
Just wow 🤩 I like it !!!
The glazing really softened some of the harshness from the salt application. It’s absolutely lovely.

Merci beaucoup.
Very beautiful. Hypnotizing to watch. (But.. *beginner..??)
Just beautiful & on your magenta is it PV122 as original was discontinued & has a florescent look?
Those colors do work so well for fall!
Gorgeous! I love Autumn too 😊. Can I ask about ‘permanent magenta? That is, the pigment number please!
Thanks, it’s PV 19
i did not make my pencil lines dark enough so when it was time to do the negative painting i could not see most of them! i'll have to try again
Wonderful demo… there is a shadow over your painting from your hand which makes it difficult to see. Maybe move your light source to the left side?
Thanks

Painting…beautiful. Music…not so much, you don’t need it imho
@@helenperkins7135 simply choose to mute it if you don’t like it, you can follow the subtitles, we really love the ambience of the music we select! 😀✨
The music was too stressing for me first thing in the morning…beautiful painting..no one the music
@@gwenritch easy solution, mute and he sound 😆
Too complicated for this beginner.
Gorgeous!!!
