    Only after watching your video did I really understand the operational meaning of shape, edges, value, and color mentioned by Alvaro. Thank you again for your hard work in making the teaching video.

      I'm so glad! Yes, Alvaro talks about it a lot, but it's hard to grasp it without a few visual examples. On the other hand, It's very hard to explain when you are actually painting (doing a demo, unless it's a voice over) as things happen quickly, but I don't think Alvaro would ever do a tutorial.

    Just now, I used the composition method taught in your video to modify a piece of work that looked a little weird, and it turned out much better! Thank you.

    Hello Nina - I watched almost all of your videos and wanted to let you know how much I appreciate them. I have been painting for a few years now, and with some courses and books here and there, feel like I'm hitting a wall in my development. Your new Monday series is a perfect way to go back to the basics and start over. Once my schedule stabilizes a little more, I will be joining your Patreon as well. Thank you!

      I followed your example of using Photoshop to adjust the brightness in large shape units (merged shapes) in my previous paintings, examine the shortcomings of the composition, and develop the habit of doing tonal value studies beforehand, hoping to draw cleaner pictures in the future. If you are a musician, you must also be a good teacher, especially for adult students.

    Thanks!! How long does it take you to paint such a wonderful picture? How many times during the process do you let it dry completely?

    • @nvfineartstudio7296
      @nvfineartstudio7296  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kevin, approximately an hour. I usually dry the first wash completely before starting the second layer. The second layer dries quicker. So, if I need to add any details (highlights or black, etc), it is usually dry already, I don't need to wait.

    Do you think its good to add glycerine (3 drops) into my palette wells and mix that thoroughly. My paints dry too easily while I paint. Even the strokes dry quickly. Spraying creates spots on painted surface like we want to see in lawns and fields.

    • @nvfineartstudio7296
      @nvfineartstudio7296  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can try. But If your paints dry quick it means you are not using enough water (in the wells and find fully saturate your brush). Another proof that you are not using enough water is that when you spray it leaves little cauliflowers/spots. I would recommend taking a scrap piece of paper, make a large very watery puddle on the palette, spray the paper fist a little, then make sure when you put your brush on the surface the mixture forms a bead. The start adding paint to the mixture to increase value and start spraying gently the painted surface. Try to understand at what point it gets dry and how to avoid this point (spray a little early?). Don't worry you will get a hang of it eventually. It's is a very common issue at the beginning.
