As one of Jorb’s patrons, I can gladly say I’d rather buy a Behringer Model D and still have enough left over for another 208 years of supporting Jorb lol
I totally agree! It's such a good idea. I love how they started off a little tentative and then ended up having fun just being two musicians excited about cool sounds together
Would of been good to of had a view where We could copy the patches because everything is on the face you can pretty much make every sound you hear if you copy the same positions of all knobs and switches.
This video shows why it's so important to jam with other people. So cool to see 2 people put their heads together and learn from each other and create unique stuff
the pad that Tycho tuned at 10:16 minute was one of the most beautiful tones that this box produced, that's why the analog sound will forever be unique to me…
@@XanderEwald yeah they had no daws and vsts in the 1970s so obviously it’s a very silly comparison. It’s primitive synth technology. Something like phase plant($200) erases this thing out of existence, so if this simple thing is the perfect synth, then phase plant is a god by itself.
Dude I could watch these guys talk about and mess around on synths all day. I was lucky enough to see Tycho open for Interpol for the first time this year and I was blown away.
OMG PLEASE PUT OUT AN ALBUM TOGETHER! Just you two noodling around and making some of these delicious, soothing retro sounds. Listening to this was joyful. Pleeeaassseee do! ❤
I've learnt a lot by watching this (again and again). Love Tycho and his patch design is out of this world good. I'm using UAD's Minimoog plug, I definitely am recreating some of these sounds using the plug, and using these patch ideas as a springboard for making my own, unique patches.

Everyones talking about doing a side-by-side sound comparison with the Behringer version. I want to see a comparison on craftmanship, user experience and UI.
I suspect Moog will attempt to prohibit affiliated channels from even mentioning Behringer. Its probably going to be a good few months before We see someone put the Behringer and Moog side by side.
if i didn't just drop almost 5 k on a prophet 10....... curious to see this up against the behringer for 300 bucks. on a side note everytime they was both playing, they sounded awesome
They sound nearly identical. If you did a blind test, you most likely couldn’t determine which was which. When Behringer does a copy of analog equipment, they’re usually spot on. You’d be better starting out with a Poly D than investing 5k in what is basically a collector’s item. Also, the Poly D is a more capable synth. I’m not saying the Minimoog reissue is bad, I’m just saying you can get that sound for MUCH cheaper than 5k.
@@Docdaman4 i gotta say, when i play on the prophet 10, part of what i admire is the build quality of it. there's something to be said for that. is that worth 4 or 5k? ehhh i don't know bout that. i guess if i was planning on passing it down to my boy, possibly. i know it would hold value at the least.
@@crime_wavez Oh yeah, the reissue definitely looks/feels/plays better than a Poly D. I mean, for the price it fucking better! But with the extra oscillator, built in Juno-style chorus, built in distortion, and the ability to play paraphonically, the Poly D is a more capable and (I’m gonna say it) better sounding synth
Yes, a ton of it. Could be the Big Sky, but sounds like Valhalla Shimmer, that's what I use all the time and it sounds just like that. Valhalla Room was up on the screen at one point.
I do it both ways and have all of the vsts, and still I feel a lot more inspired by actually touching them. This video is a huge example of why as well.
Sounds great. What's the reverb plug-in? Also, I second comments that more videos should be like this. A pair discussing and riffing on the fly. I enjoyed the video!
Paying 6000 eu for a mono synth is madness. Non-gluttons from Asheville don't know how much to ask for it anymore. you can always get a moog one 8 for that money and it has not only these same sounds - but also much more!!!! You are crazy!!!
This is just such a cool hangout, gear fun vid. They do really seem to click very well together musically, would be nice to hear a proper collaboration!
Just got back from the studio…..my 1974 minimoog sounds so much different than my walnut reissue. The vintage one sounds meaner with more presence and more of a majestic attitude. Better i think.
No it doesn’t. I’ve had a number of skilled keyboardists and engineers who could not tell a1974 from this model. Still, people like you will stir the pot🤮

Every artist takes an instrument and makes it their own. It's so cool how you can hear Tychos sound as soon as he starts messing with it ❤️
I have a Behringer Monopoly and there Model D is bassed on and sounds like the real Moog ten times less the cost.
@@HOLLASOUNDS Great!
There are certain artists that imprint their style onto every piece of gear they use. Solar Fields is another great example of this imo.

The perfect synth: Simple, versatile, good sounding. Minimoog never gets old, it’s just a piece of magic.

God I love Scott's chord and melody phrasings. Even when he plays lines that are completely different, they all sound completely, fully, like Tycho.

Love Tycho. Great to hear the back story on his Model D. Yeah, seems like all his synth leads are through a Model D.
11:36 finding a kick bass sound developed into an amazing cinematic synth jam, that was just 🧠💥
Out of this came Kaelin Ellis beats in Tycho music on the new Tycho album, Infinite Health, and in the song Time To Run. It's great, love it so much!
what good taste tycho has! I admire him a lot!
Love the Prodigy just chilling in the background!
