    aight u got me with the preamp controls in-mixer, all interface should do this since most of us are LOCK ON A SCREEN since its easier to just reach the mouse with a fader ahaha , the one knob for all feature is neat but for speed Id say is faster to edit inside the Mixer Software, great video !

    this interface looks perfect and its functionality is also perfect. I added to substitute my m-audio duo, which design i find a total waste of espace and does not communicate accurately the levels. One needs everything for one hand position and in one side, for when sitting on computer and playing. The cables can be behind , but 2 cables in from is also awesome

    Love the standalone state for those of us that don’t want to switch on a computer every time . I’m going to be essentially be using this as a line mixer, so midi functionality would be up there for V2.
    I wonder , would the converters in the EVO be the same as the ones in my ID14 ? Or would I be better using the EVO via adat with with ID14 if that has better converters ?

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll add your suggestion for MIDI to our feature request list. The Converters on the EVO 16 are slighlty different models to the iD14 ones but spec wise are very similar so in real world use, you're unlikely to notice a difference between the two.

    Awesome review. So are the JFET pres (1 & 2) also compatible with condenser mics using the 48v phantom power?

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The JFETs on channels 1+2 are only in use when you have the instrument mode enabled for these channels If you turn Instrument mode off, then inputs 1+2 are just another pair of Mic Pre inputs and these will work just fine with a Condenser mic and will provide full 48V phantom power

    love this.. i have the evo 8 but i might upgrade to this.. 2important questions though. 1.) can you use the smart gain on inputs connected through adat? 2.) can yiu bypass the internal preamp if you have a separare hardware preamp?

    • @trextonhaldeman323
      @trextonhaldeman323 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont know about your second question, but as for the first, unless it's a second Evo 16, in which case you run smart gain on both at the same time, I'm pretty sure you cant. An example of this is even the Audient pres, its a hardware knob, not a software knob for gain. Sorry!

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not possible to run Smartgain on external ADAT inputs I'm afraid. Its also not possible to bypass the internal pre-amps but they are clean enough than you can run an external pre-amp through the line inputs without noticeable colouration or distortion.

    great interface. but it is missing the same tools as the evo4/8: the auto gain feature on the mixer software not only on the interface button , for those like me who has the interface on the studio table but is recording himself playing drums. Would be cool to trigger this functionality or using the interface mixing software or even on a smartphone app connected to the interface software on a computer/mac… same for musicians to be able to control their own monitor remotely.

    Amazing unit! Love my Evo 8, and this one can be a really good addition to my mobile rig. One question. If I use the standalone mode, can I route each preamp to an ADAT ouput to use the unit as a preamp module clocked to my Antelope Orion interface? I suppose I cannot bypass the converters to use the analog outputs without any conversion. I love the Evo preamps when I need transparency.

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, the Standalone mode would allow you to route the Pre-amps to either the Digital or Analog outputs. Its not possible to bypass the AD/DA Converters however so if you used the analogue outputs, you would have an extra AD/DA stage in your signal path.

    Are You planning to make software master volume control (like in EVO 8)? This thread has almost a year and there is no any updates. You can make button to enable/disable control from windows slider ;) This is very simple feature but when I sold older EVO 8 for EVO 16 I feel something like one step backward :( I have audio interface away from my sit position and is frustrating that I can adjust any other applications volume because of windows but not a DAW.

  • @NonsenseInBASIC

    Fantastic interface. I’m loving it. Question: my Mac’s internal volume through the Evo is way too loud. Now of course I can lower the ‘Mac 1+2’ level and it gets audibly quieter but it’s still red lining. Is this going to be clipping virtual instruments in my DAW?

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Under normal circumstances, the Playback from your Mac shouldn't be causing clipping. Below the meters, you'll see a value that shows the current signal level. provided this is still below 0 then you are not clipping.
      If it is too loud, however, you'd just need to turn down the output level in your DAW or in your media player.

    You mention at 8:25 that you can mono the outputs. is it possible to have out put 5-6-7-8 as 4 mono mixes to send to a mono headphone amps? If so is there a different mixer for each output, or does the mixer still work in L&R pairs.

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can set outputs 5, 6, 7 & 8 to Mono and then assign CUES A, B, C & D to them.
      Then you can just setup the 4 cue mixes to feed to the 4 outputs. Any panning on the cue mixes will simply be ignored.

    I want to connect the Colour Box v2 and use it as a preamp. Is it safe to use this on the evo 16? I'm asking because all inputs on the evo 16 are preamps. I don't see a feature to bypass these on the evo or in the software.

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, that would work perfectly fine! It isn't possible to bypass the pre-amps on EVO 16 but if you just set them to minimum gain then they are clean enough that you'll get no noticeable distortion colouration or noise added to your external pre-amp signal.

    As far as I can see the EVO16 doesn't have a bit of onboard DSP with reverb FX (like the Steinberg UR series for instance). Is it possible to use the routing system to use an outboard FX unit to give some reverb to zero latency monitoring mixes for the vocalists?

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use the EVO mixers CUE mixes to feed your Mic channels back out to hardware effects and bring this back on in again on a different input for monitoring and tracking.
      There would be almost zero latency (<1ms) in this setup as all the routing is taking place on the unit itself.

    Are you considering building some fx into the software? It would be great to have EQ, Reverb , compression etc

    • @weareevoaudio

    Two question: Is it possible to turn off the gain stage on the line in if I have an external preamp and go straight to the ADC? Secondly, can I setup a multichannel out in the software working with surround sound and controlling the outputs with the main volume on the unit?

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not possible to bypass the pre-amps on the unit but if you set the gain to 0dB then you can pass audio from an external pre-amp without any noticeable noise or colouration.

    • @weareevoaudio

    8:17 Dose it means that I can send the signals to output 3 and 4 separately from DAW? Like kick drum to the output 3, bass to the output 4?

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, if you set outputs 3+4 to DAW THRU, anything you send to outputs 3+4 in your DAW will play directly out of these outputs on the EVO 16. You'd just need to route your Kick to out 3 and the Bass to Output 4. You can then also do this with the other outputs if you need more outputs.

      You can use it as a standalone mixer using the standalone state so you can use the unit without it being connected to a PC.
      To do this, first connect it to a PC and open the EVO mixer app, setup the mixer software as you would like to have it when away from your computer. Then go to the Setup Menu and click "Store Standalone State". This will then store the setup to the unit. The next time you power up the EVO 16, it will recall this state allowing you to use it without having a computer connected and could be used for IEM monitoring on stage with up to 8 inputs.

    Just got my evo 16. Wondering why there isn't a clear control in the app for my master output/headphone output levels. Is it the same to set those levels on the unit to maximum and then control what's feeding them in the app?

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Level of your Monitors/Headphones are controlled using the volume control on the unit itself (Press the Speaker/HP buttons and then use the control knob). If you want to control it from the PC then setting the outputs to max and then controlling the level in your audio software will also work but is a little less elegant than just using the hardware controls.

    Should we use an external preamp via the line input to the Audient Evo 16, does it will bypass?

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Line inputs don't bypass the built-in pre-amp. However the pre-amps are clean enough that at zero gain, you'll get no noticeable colouration or noise running external pre-amps through the EVO pre-amps.

  • @pdm67
    @pdm67 ปีที่แล้ว

    As there are no inserts is it possible to achieve this by routing pre-amped signals out and back in again and if so what would be the overall latency through two sets of conversion?

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can use the CUE mixes of the Mixer software to route signals out to outboard and the back into other channels. Depending on the sample rate used, the latency on this would be roughly 1.5-3ms.

      Yes this is possible using a CUE Mix. In the mixer window, click on one of the 4 CUE mixes and then pull up the fader for PC1+2 and PC 5+6. Then in the routing matrix, simply assign the headphone output to that CUE mix and you'll hear both channels at the same time.

    Hi, can this unit be used as an expansion for another interface via ADAT? If so, how can that be achieved?
    My friend bought this unit and I had my Apollo X6. I wanted to make the Apollo the master device accepting the digital signals coming from the EVO 16. When trying to connect the digital out of the EVO into the digital in of my Apollo, not only that the clocks wouldnt sync, I couldn't get any sound to come into the Apollo whatsoever.
    After fiddling with it for hours, I was able to get sound out of the EVO into the digital in of the Apollo, but it was just noise and not usable at all. We gave up and did the opposite, going digital out of the Apollo into the digital in of the EVO, and that worked fine, clocked synced up right away as well.
    Does this mean that the EVO can only accept incoming digital signals from other devices? Or is it possible and I just didn't set it up correctly? If that's the case, what would I have to do to get that to work? Thank you.😁

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We would not recommend running the unit as an ADAT expansion at the moment as it is designed to be a host interface.
      In the future, we are hoping to release firmware that will allow an EVO 16 to be used in standalone mode (not connected to a computer), so it can be used as a preamp expander that can communicate via ADAT/SPDIF (such as the Audient ASP800/880).

      At this moment in time, it's only possible to switch between two pairs of speakers using the Function switch. If you wanted to switch between more speaker pair, you'd need to use a monitor controller such as our Nero.

      Not easily I'm afraid, the ALT functionality in the software only lets you switch between two speaker sets as well.

    iD14 lets me lower the master and headphone volume via the software mixer, but I can't seem to find this on the EVO16 software. Is there a way to adjust Master Mix and headphone outputs from the software, or is it required to physically turn the knob on the device?

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Its only possible to adjust the output volumes on the EVO 16 itself at this moment in time.

      @@weareevoaudio To work around this problem I am simply going to avoid using the Master Mix. Everything will be going to one of the four Cue Masters, so I can have a proper software volume dial. I would love to know why this is a standard feature on the iD but not EVO.

    • @weareevoaudio

    Is it possible to connect a Surround setup?

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The EVO can product the audio outputs for a surround setup but won't be able to control the volume or provide other monitor controls. You'd therefore need an external monitor control paired with the EVO 16.

      @@weareevoaudio thank you for your answer,
      But wouldn‘t it be easy to provide that with an update and the Function Button?
      You can offer a Surround mode in the mixer App and wirh the function button you switch to Control the volume for alle speaker… this would make the Evo 16 even better 👌👍

      @weareevoaudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This isn't something we've tested I'm afraid. However if you are looking to connect it to the Push using the ADAT connections, the SP8 would be more suitable than the EVO 16.

    Can we set up it for 7.1 audio out

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The volume control currently will only control stereo outputs so if you want to use it for surround output, you'll need to use a seperate monitor controller. This is a feature that we are looking into however and may be able to add in the near future.

    This is an amazing piece of kit! However, in the settings section I didn't see an option to route the analog inputs to the digital outputs, to use the interface to expand another one digitally. Is that possible?

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This can be routed using the 4 Cue Mixes of the EVO mixer to send the audio from the inputs to the outputs. We'll be adding a guide and downloadable mixer configurations for this setup to our FAQ pages shortly so keep your eyes peeled for that!

    In the output section does the headphone daw thru selection mean I can send a separate stem from my daw there? For example the drum bus

    • @weareevoaudio
      @weareevoaudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, in your DAW, you'd create a send to outputs 9+10 or 11+12 and if the headphones are assigned to DAW THRU, the signal will be sent straight to the headphone output.
