      Can I send 16 channels of Adat to and from this unit?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zorroinhell5549 Hello, Zorro in Hell! The Evo 16 only has 8 analog inputs on board, so you could not use this unit to add 16 channels to another interface via ADAT. It can send 16 channels of ADAT at 48kHz using the USB as a source. In other words, you can send 16 tracks from your DAW to another interface via ADAT with this.
      It is a 24-channel unit, so you could connect other units with analog I/O to this via ADAT to expand your setup.

      Hi Stephen, great question. So the JFET inputs are only active when connecting instruments via ¼” cable (aka hi-impedance inputs). It is pretty rare that you will find a JFET involved in a mic preamp, especially on an interface.

    Hi, can I use the EVO 16 with the SP8 to setup 13.2 channel surround sound with studio monitors in Windows? Like Dolby Atmos. For mixing in a DAW but also for watching movies?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, Dragonstone! The Evo 16 and the SP8 can be combined together via ADAT to allow for 16 channels of outputs. That setup will give you enough channels for a 13.2 setup. As far as using that same setup to watch movies, that will require appropriate media player software to play back the surround encoded movies. It is fairly simple to do within a DAW, though. At current, Ableton Live, Apple Logic, Avid Pro Tools, and Steinberg Nuendo all support Atmos.

    digi channels 15&15 don't work, only for loopback. it's a known bug (apparently only on some interfaces?) and it has not been taken care of yet.
    so if you need the full 16 extra channels - well it's 14. that's that.
    BUT: after an initial waiting period of 2 weeks until i got a response there hasn't been ANY more movement and messages by their support, for almost 3 months!
    even though i asked for news and at some point (understandably) complained they did NOT reply at all, but eventually marked the request as resolved :D
    that behaviour left me baffled. be aware of their "customer service", just saying.
    god thanks to musikhaus korn in Germany who took the unit back after 3 months and refunded me. it's a shame they have to stand up for audients conduct.

      @sweetwater  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@imdurc Technically yes, but that interface would have to be connected to another computer because in most cases you cannot use multiple audio interfaces with one computer (with some exceptions like Universal Audio interfaces which can be turned into an aggregate devices). Yes, you can certainly hook the EVO16 up with the ID44.
      The best way to do this will be through the Optical I/O. If you’re using the iD44 as your desktop interface and monitor control, then you’ll want to run ADAT in on the iD44, and ADAT out from the EVO16. This way, you’ll have access to the pre amps on the EVO from the iD44.

      Hi lostinlymbo13, thanks for the questions! Windows does allow you to create a 5.1 output on any sound device with enough outputs. With the Audient, I am not seeing any way to link all the outputs to the main volume knob, so level would have to be controlled via the Windows Volume control. With interfaces like the Focusrite 18i20 or the MOTU Microlite, you can link all the outputs to the front knob, giving you output control of all the channels!
