    I just picked up an Evo 16 recently. Just used it for a drum session last weekend, and it worked awesome.

      How did you find the auto gain function? Helpful or more a distraction? I was a bit intimidated at first, but now I love it.

      @@hoborec I was a little skeptical that it would really work. I'm using a behringer ADA 8200 through ADAT. I ran everything through the EVO except for my three Tom mics. I set those manually through the behringer. All of the rest of the mics tracked perfectly with the auto gain. It set the kick just a tad hot, so I backed that off just a little, but it saves you so much time. I love it!! On a side note the behringer worked really nice with it, it's cheaper than the Evo 8 and it has some really nice clean preamps with like 60 decibels of gain. Definitely pairs up well with the Evo 16. And you could buy two of the behringers for the cost of one Evo 8.

    Vad tycker du om dess "Ultra low-noise"?
    Jag har kört 2st MOTU 8Pre's tills nu, men måste skaffa nya pga Motu inte uppdaterar deras drivers för 8Pre längre, plus att de har lite störig noise i preampsen.
    Kanske inte jämförbart med UA Apollo-serie, men har EVO bra low-noise?

    • @hoborec
      @hoborec  ปีที่แล้ว

      Det mesta jag spelar in är ju jävligt högljudd så har sällan reflekterat över noise level. Men har fattat det som att det är marginellt högre brus i Evo interfacen jämfört med Audient ID

    Hey Ulf!
    Do you think two Focusrite Octopre Dynamic´s work with the Evo 16 via the ADAT function? I´m looking to expand my studio in the future.
    Thanks, love from Norway!

    I own this and I didn't know you can pair the channels! Thanks for the tips. I'd be curious to see a video about combining two of these together (I don't know anything about ADAT).

    Maybe a stupid question but I’m new to trying to build my studio. Is this an audio interface that you can use stand alone to record, or is this a mic pre amp you use in conjunction with an audio interface? Thanks

    • @hoborec
      @hoborec  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      There are no stupid questions. The Evo 16 is an interface. All you need to record 8 inputs. The Evo SP8 is an expansion unit that will give you 8 extra inputs. You can use two SP8 with one Evo 16 for a total of 24 inputs.

    I wish I bought this instead of the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 3rd gen. I got that a few months prior to this being released. Even though the interface I have works just fine, I like the simplicity of the EVO 16, especially when I record myself on drums or if my band members want to use it, it's simple to setup.

      I replaced my Roland Studio Capture with an Evo 16 and (2) x SP8 pres
      It was a nice upgrade, but I wish the Audient system had the ability to trigger the auto gain through software like the Roland does, which makes it much easier to set level remotely

    • @LetsTalkAboutReaper
      @LetsTalkAboutReaper ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JupiterStudio1 I've not tried 96, I typically run 48. I'll spot check the docs and see what I can find, but I have yet to run all 24 at once. I do regularly run 12-16 though

    • @LetsTalkAboutReaper
      @LetsTalkAboutReaper ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JupiterStudio1 I spoke briefly with Adam Steel about this, and he advised that 96K you would be limited to 16 channels due to physical limitations of the ADAT connection.
      As I said, I've never gone above 48K, and Adam works for Audient now, plus knows hardware quite well, so I would say we can trust his assessment.

    How does the monitoring work? Am I able to add EQ and compression to my vocalist recording without any latency?

    • @hoborec
      @hoborec  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, not if you mean like onboard dsp processing. Can’t really expect that at this price point. But how much latency does some light compression and eq give? I always track vocals with a hardware compressor but I sometimes put some eq and reverb on it in my saw without any issues.

    Great review Ulf, thanks. I bought the EVO SP8 to use with my Apollo units via the ADAT and I'm loving the additional 8 inputs for tracking bands in my space. For the price I really think it's hard to beat and sounds clean and neutral.

      Right? I used a bunch of low budget 8 channels interfaces before and it’s not been in the same world. I just used a Antelope Orion linked with Adat to the EVO16 and there’s no noticeable quality differences there.

    ADAT on the road? No thanks! Far too finicky. One bump and it's all over! AVB or DANTE would make much more sense. I've got no problem with ADAT in a completely static situation but no way on the road. They should have found a better way of linking the interface and pre boxes.

      @@hoborec Well, I 'm still sore from (quite) a few years ago when I was tracking a band at a small gig. Some drunken idiot stumbled and fell against the rear of the table my gear was set up on and the ADAT cable got pulled sideways and destroyed the port. Yeah my gear should have been racked in protective boxes so it was partially my fault. But the fact that ADAT is physically delicate is always at the back of my mind. Those Evo boxes do look really useful though.

    • @hoborec
      @hoborec  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha not sure what you're aiming at, but no. I used the wireless clip mic directly to the camera to avoid having to sync up audio while editing. It picked up som weird noise so I used a DeNoiser at pretty hard setting which make the sound a bit bubbly. If you mean the background music I guess it's just a matter of taste, I thought it was relatively calm and nice 😅
