I am so proud of this girl. I am also Mexican American. The first in my family to go to college. My parents also didn’t have money to pay for college. I got into a lot of good schools like UCLA but even after the scholarships I was going to be in major debt so I decided to go to a community college and then transfer to a state school. I worked three jobs while being in the deans list and graduated with honors and most importantly debt free. In case you are wondering if going to a community college and then a state school impacted my job, I don’t think it did. Most of my coworkers are from Ivy League schools or Berkeley, UCLA etc and we all make the same money.
