Nice & thanks again from Japan 有り難う💛。 You already have a lot of comments about this Akatsuki 2014. Now in 2021, on Feb.19, Akatsuki became a very special song for BABYMETAL fans. This song had not been performed for 2 years and 4 months, but they did it again that day on the similar center stage (not rotating but telescopic octagon). I witnessed it at Budokan, the same legendary arena in this video. That performance was incorporated with unfinished version partially and fighting choreo by 2 muscular female dancers as they did in 2018 dark side shows. Honestly I can not remember clearly what I saw and what I heard because it was too surprising and too mesmerizing. I have to confirm it when the official video is released. There is one certain thing, however. I felt celestial bliss there.
@@ThomFoolery1 Thanks for your reply. FYI. On June 26, there will be an online program of 10 BABYMETAL Budokan concerts which completed on April 15. Access ticket to the world premiere program may be still available on BABYMETAL official channel.
@@ThomFoolery1 - I agree that Su is great. But she had all of those things before Babymetal. That is why she was chosen. In fact Babymetal might never have existed if Koba hadn't seen her unique qualities. He said he had been thinking of an Idol-Metal fusion but he had other ideas and seeing Su was when he decided to do Babymetal and that she should front it. I think she does understand what to do and when (now) but there were times when she didn't and it still worked because she fits the role so well. How Su performs Akatsuki is not much different than some of her solo performances at the Acting School of Hiroshima (ASH) when she was as young as 8. I mean, obviously, it's much much better for obvious reasons. But, for me, it's not difficult to see how that girl became Su-metal. One of the best guitar duality. Akatsuki is an epic Su-Metal solo performance without Yuimetal and Moametal. Su-Metal interpretations of a song is different from any metal singer I've heard. Her voice is pure and sincere and enough to ignite the Babymetal community and pierce through the heavy music using her powerful voice. Su-Metal have another 3 solo songs which is 1. Rondo of Nightmare with intro Mischief of Gods. 2. Amore. 3. No Rain No Rainbow. Enjoy your reaction. Put your Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🇯🇵🇸🇬.
Such a fantastic song, it has everything one could ask for. I love the shot with a slightly blurred BOH (the bassist) in the background as he does that little bass lick at 7:58. Very tasty. And Su's stare at the end is so intense, love that.
6:17 It's funny you say about the improvisation because the first part of that solo (duo?) that is played by Takayoshi - the one with the pink guitar - is actually not how the song goes, and is the only time in the many, many, many live performances of Akatsuki that has that version of this part. Any other time the song is performed he plays it correctly as per the studio recorded version, so I have always wondered why on this one occasion he played that one section so differently! I've always wanted to know!
Yeah, that performance same with Rondo of Nightmare, that live at Budokan Black Night. In that concert Su-Metal does three Solo performance, Rondo of Nightmare, No Rain No Rainbow, and Akatsuki. All of them are amazing. I like Budokan Black Night, the colour Red and Black always make me amazed. You are a good Reactor and see you again with BABYMETAL reaction 😁 Good reaction 🤘

Black Night was the second night of the Budokan concerts in March 2014, so Su was 16. I like the quieter "unfinished" version with just piano instrumentation that Su sang between Headbanger and Babymetal Death in Legend 1997, but it doesn't have the dueling guitars. Now that Su is a little older I wish she'd revisit the quieter version of the song. Here Akatsuki is translated as "Crimson Moon". It's a Su solo and has been out of the setlist for a while now that BM is just Su-metal and Moametal, but they brought it back in the last set of concerts at Budokan Doomsday. I'm really glad they did because the shows are better with Su solos and Akatsuki is one of my favourites. It's a hymn to undying love (or at least keeping it's memory alive) and uses the symbolism of the "red thread" to connect lovers; there's lots of red imagery in the lyrics of this song, but I'm not sure that the "Miss Havisham" never ending love aspect of the message is one copy. There is also a Japanese anime called "Akatsuki" where the protagonists wear capes and I think that Su's cape might be a nod to that, or it might just be a dramatic prop.
This what we are seeing and hearing here is a once in a generation artist and voice. AND SHE IS OURS. Babymetal will never let you down The Kami's will never let you down. Great reaction from you too.
This+Rondo of nightmare is the performance that made me a diehard fan of Su-Metal! XD, even if her vocal technique haven't reached her best. Maybe because i loved theatrical play, i was so amazed with the way she did everything on the stage, her confidence, commanding presence, expression, and focus. She's like showing you that all things on the stage worked under her direction. It is just too badass!🤣🤣
Ah.. always a pleasure to see Thomas-san reaction to Babymetal. I noticed so far you reacted to a lot of older Babymetal's songs, how about you check out their newer ones, like the Trilogy of Light: 'Starlight', 'Shine', and 'Arkadia'.
Wonderful reaction. This is the song that cured me from a half year long pet loss of an 18-year old dog. It is about a love you have for someone being yours to cherish until your body perishes.
Happy little trees to you. Yes, Su has more focus than even Hubble foresaw. The band switches faster than an I12 chip. And the drummer is.. ok; I have no metaphor for that. And Bo is "just playing bass". And I hope the significance of the quote marks is appreciated, because, well. Damn.
A most excellent reaction! I love this song and especially this version. It is a toss up between this and Shine (Legend M version) for my favorite from Babymetal. I can't wait to see the latest version from this year's Budokan shows. Looking forward to more reactions! Kitsune Up! 🤘🦊🤘
Yes, you are right! This song was from the same Budokan show in 2014 from which you did Rondo of Nightmare! And Su was just 16 years old!! Did you notice the Death Glare @ 8:44? :D Do you want to hear a song where Su really sings like an angel? Try "Tsubasa wo kudasai" live at "Legend D" in 2012. There was no live band yet, and it was a cover from Evangelion, but it really feels like some Angel Chorus! It gives me Chills :D
Great reaction. There is another version of this song - 'Akatsuki' (unfinished version) which has a completely different feel - same lyrics, same melody but just Su, piano and strings and it is like a completely different song. th-cam.com/video/HwWkETRtQUA/w-d-xo.html Hopefully this won't be deleted (turn on the subtitles for the intro). For another Su solo not entirely dissimilar (unusual for BABYMETAL) to 'Akatsuki' look for 'Amore' - I think there is a video on the Babymetal Reactor Resource channel you can use for a reaction. Personally I think it is even better.
I'm Japanese. Have you seen "Road of Resistance" yet? If you haven't, you should definitely watch it. Also, there is a song called "Amore" which is the same type of song as "Akatsuki" and you should definitely watch it.
Oh! I'm sorry to hear that. In Amore's case, the only thing uploaded to youtube is a live video that someone processed, so it probably won't be blocked.
@@ThomFoolery1 Babymetal Reactor Resource actually has the Wembley Arena version of Amore on their channel. It has the BM logo overlaid over it to avoid getting blocked and a link to the logoless version so you can definitely watch it.
It seems that you really love Su's solo songs in BABYMETAL. If you want, please also react to BABYMETAL - Amore. It is a power metal with consistent double kick drums and beuatiful riffs. And it also got a quick bass solo! Kitsunes up!
I always appreciate your sincere reactions and insight on these videos. Your comments on the songwriting, theatrics, band musicianship and Su’s talent seemed spot on to me. You can compare Su’s solo performance from this concert early in her career with one later on in “No Rain, No Rainbow”. The song stirs up a lot of emotions.
Hi again Thomas - been away a little - ran out of Laphroaig! 😆. Great reaction, I was wondering when you'd get round to this one! You said something that hit home and one that so many people have said over the last few years, in that you didn't really have to understand what the words mean - you feel it. Su Metal herself has said before, don't think but feel - or something to that effect. If you can achieve that....you must be doing something right and extremely special I might add! My favourite song at the moment has only been performed once and that is "Night Night Burn 🔥 " which has a wonderful Latino influence - alongside "Papaya" if they don't make someone smile - they need to be tested for a pulse! They positively ooze absolute joy and that's why people love them!! Best Wishes.
Hey David! Good to hear from you. Yeah, I often miss lyrics, even for English songs. My brain tends to focus much more on the melody and feeling of the vocals more than anything. Lyrics are great and can make/break a song but without a good sound or emotion behind, they are pointless...at least for me anyway.
Like that T-shirt! As always, a great reaction and sharp analysis to my favourite performance of my favourite SuMetal solo. Pronounced 'Ak-at-skee', it means 'Crimson Moon'. As always in Babymetal performances, every gesture is choreographed to express something in the lyrics and so there's one point (7:18-7:20) where Su raises her little finger, which matches the lyric "Even if the red thread flowing in my hand breaks, I still feel we are tied". This refers to a very well-known ( by Japanese people!) legend in Japanese culture that says we all have a Red String Of Fate that starts in our hearts, comes out of the thumb in males and out of the little finger in females and is attached to our soul mate's thumb or little finger. It may get tangled or stretched but will never break. Of course, where it took me a few sentences to attempt an explanation, Queen Su gets the point across much more succintly with one heartfelt but tiny gesture. Look forward to your next journey down the Fox Hole! 🦊🤘🤘🦊 PS Band-Maid recently (a week or so ago) released a live performance from Feb of their song 'Warning' which is, as if you needed it confirmed, just brilliant: th-cam.com/video/Kojg8ULibeY/w-d-xo.html
Hey Tony! Hope you're well. Thanks for the extra info on the choreo/lyrics. I probably would have never caught that. That really speaks to their attention to detail which you have to appreciate. Thanks for the tip! I'll need to get back on BANDMAID soon. Currently juggling about 30 different rabbit holes haha

I'm in a state of indecision I've been listening to Babymetal for years I love them even after thousands of listens I can't get away from them Suzuka Nakamotos voice is like a drug but they are manufactured group like most idol groups are bands like Nemophila who write their own songs I guess I can live in both worlds but check out Nemophila and check out Babymetals Yava or Syncopation love your reactions
Have you heard Nemophila's cover of Megitsune? Really, truly good. So, my point is Nemophila also does songs they did not write and it can still be a fantastic performance. It is, in my opinion, unimportant whether a band is a "real band" or not. What matters is, did you enjoy the music? Did it move you in some way? Somebody has to write the music, the lyrics, do the arranging, do the performing, the mixing, the overall producing... There is a lot of talent out there and not all those roles need to fall on the core 2 or 3 (or sometimes only 1) members of the band. So too bad we don't have a good way to do the equivalent of a blind taste test. My bet is that it comes down to the ability of the performers, given good music, to put the passion into it and deliver to the listener. Maybe some musicians just don't have the flexibility to do that unless they have written the song themselves. But I will also say, backstory does matter to a super fan. If the story of the struggling band of brothers (or sisters) helps you enjoy the music better, well, good to know what to look for. And one has to admit, Babymetal has one heck of a backstory. BTW, I have been a fan of Tamu san 🥁 for years and am very happy she gets to be in such a talented band as Nemophila.
3:56 Nope 😁... isnt from the same show... (same stage tough) The hint is : ohmura pinku chan and Leda black Flying V guitar This "akatsuki" from budokan black night, while "rondo of nightmare" is from budokan red night, the day before this show
It is from the same Black Night show. Hint 1 : At Red Night Yui fell off stage during Headbanger, so to prevent that they put railings around the stage for Black Night. Hint 2 : The costume they wear are different between the two show, Su clearly wearing costume for Black Night. Hint 3 : Mikio and Takayoshi was the two guitarist for Red Night. Leda and Takayoshi was for Black Night.

Nice reaction. Japan is a country of sun worship. And I also believe in the moon, which is the exact opposite of the sun. The moon governs death, destruction, and rebirth. In Japanese belief, death is not the end, life changes shape. Finish the mission in this world and move on to the next world. The afterlife is destined to be engraved in the hearts of the Japanese.

Dude...you really do great reactions
Thank you! 🙇♂️
Please check out the Trilogy of Light songs and also No Rain No Rainbow (Legend S Baptism XX version)
Ah.. always a pleasure to see Thomas-san reaction to Babymetal. I noticed so far you reacted to a lot of older Babymetal's songs, how about you check out their newer ones, like the Trilogy of Light: 'Starlight', 'Shine', and 'Arkadia'.
Great Reaction. Su-metal sings like a goddess in this one. Can't wait for more babymetal reaction🤟
SuMetal is amazing! She uses almost zero vibrato and every note is a belt.
お疲れ様です☆ アカツキ動画ありがとうございました❣️🤘
Yui and Moa would lie and say they needed to practice this song, just to hear Su-chan sing it one more time.
Queen SU!!!
Guys, I've seen this countless times, it still blows my mind.
Wonderful reaction. This is the song that cured me from a half year long pet loss of an 18-year old dog. It is about a love you have for someone being yours to cherish until your body perishes.
あ 1:56 😅😊
Now that you saw THIS version of that song, you need to react to Akatsuki unfinished! Same song, but done TOTALLY differently.
Damn.
Haha well said! 😆🤘
Great reaction Thomas 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
A most excellent reaction! I love this song and especially this version. It is a toss up between this and Shine (Legend M version) for my favorite from Babymetal. I can't wait to see the latest version from this year's Budokan shows. Looking forward to more reactions! Kitsune Up! 🤘🦊🤘
Yes, you are right! This song was from the same Budokan show in 2014 from which you did Rondo of Nightmare! And Su was just 16 years old!!
Did you notice the Death Glare @ 8:44? :D
Do you want to hear a song where Su really sings like an angel?
BECAUSE SHE IS QUEEN ‼️
🤯 now that is frikken METAL 🤯 🤘❤️🇬🇧
I'm Japanese.
Have you seen "Road of Resistance" yet?
If you haven't, you should definitely watch it.
Also, there is a song called "Amore" which is the same type of song as "Akatsuki" and you should definitely watch it.
Hello there! I did Road of Resistance but it was blocked unfortunately.
Oh! I'm sorry to hear that.
In Amore's case, the only thing uploaded to youtube is a live video that someone processed, so it probably won't be blocked.
@@ラル部長 cool! I'll check it out. 😃
@@ThomFoolery1 Babymetal Reactor Resource actually has the Wembley Arena version of Amore on their channel. It has the BM logo overlaid over it to avoid getting blocked and a link to the logoless version so you can definitely watch it.
You should totally use the list to get more up love your reactions
It seems that you really love Su's solo songs in BABYMETAL. If you want, please also react to BABYMETAL - Amore. It is a power metal with consistent double kick drums and beuatiful riffs. And it also got a quick bass solo!
Kitsunes up!
That is a staple babymetal song
Absolutely loving the Bob Ross T-Shirt. :-)
Awesome reaction. Nice video and audio quality btw. It was a pleasure listening to you
BABYMETAL NO MISTAKES by BobRossMetal. Good reaction!
Hellyeah Babymetal again 🤘🏿🦊🤘🏿
I love your emortional reaction of babymetal
And this is why I'm a Suzuka/Su-metal fan even slightly more than being a Babymetal fan in general. :-)
"no mistakes only happy accidents"
Nice, i was waiting for this one ;P
I highly recommend X Japan's Dahlia. Now that's one gorgeous badass song.
absolutely amazing and wonderful song thanks
Great reaction...🤘🤘

Please react to BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance Live in Japan
@@ThomFoolery1 Happy juggling! I know you'll get around to them both when you can. Enjoying the Metal around the world project - great idea.
If you want to feel some feels then No Rain No Rainbow
It is kind of crazy when you realize they are the same age as BlackPink.
🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻
excellent content Tom-Metal, if you believe the lore, she is a reincarnation of an ancient warrior blessed by the fox-god and given a mission to reunite the world with metal.
I can believe that! Thanks Marty-Metal 🤘
Its a
Aster piece. SU is amazing. What stammina she have
Babymetal's best song.
next BabyMetal ~ Night night burn
Babymetal akatsuki live version always give me chills because everything sounds soo good from the vocal, rhythm, solos, bass, drum it was soo perfect, also you should check out Tamashi no rufuran as well because Su-Metal singing voice in this one is absolutely amazing, also i sub to you because of your amazing! reaction
Thanks for subscribing and sharing your thoughts! :)
Thnk u

Nope 😁... isnt from the same show... (same stage tough)
The hint is : ohmura pinku chan and Leda black Flying V guitar
This "akatsuki" from budokan black night, while "rondo of nightmare" is from budokan red night, the day before this show
Thanks for the info! 👍
@@gothorn2758 oops .. my mistake... 😁
I overlapped after watching my dvd sometime ago, while the " rondo of nightmare" on youtube clearly said budokan black night, nice correction there
Please react to "Knorkator - Zu Kurz".
Since you enjoyed Rammstein, you should absolutely check them out.
❤️🦊🔥🤟
Nice reaction.
Japan is a country of sun worship.
And I also believe in the moon, which is the exact opposite of the sun.
The moon governs death, destruction, and rebirth.
In Japanese belief, death is not the end, life changes shape.
Finish the mission in this world and move on to the next world.
The afterlife is destined to be engraved in the hearts of the Japanese.
Nice song to wrap up the week Thomas! Love the energy and her voice in this one. Still I'm not a fan, but I like your reaction to this one very much! No pun intended and no bad word about this song at ALL, but man, you're the one that could break down the sound of a monkey's fart and get away with it clean! 😉 Love your work, always makes me listen to a new song at least one more time!
Keep it up buddy! 🤘
I'm sorry, I've had a few beers and I'm rambling now... Have a great weekend mate! 🎼🎶🔊🤘 Oh, and about the suggestion: Northward, While Love Died'!! 😉
I'm always grateful for your kind words and support Roland! I'm honoured that you watch the videos even from bands that you wouldn't normally listen to. I sometimes wonder if I'm saying the same critiques over and over but I'm glad you're still enjoying my analysis.
Enjoy those beers my friend! I'll be doing the same as soon as my shift finishes in a couple of hours. Tomorrow I shall be doing the same and watching the ESC that your country is hosting! Hope you have a great weekend yourself! :D
@@ThomFoolery1 Dang it's late and those beers just kept coming to me mate! 😋 🤣
Enjoy ESC Thomas, especially the performance of our own 'Davina Michelle' at the...well let's say 'halftime show' at the first semi-finals. Amazingly good production.
Oh, and also check the performance from Greece! 🇬🇷 Very good act! (Small little detail; the female singer is actually Dutch).🤘 That's all the 'spoilers' you get from me for now haha!😉
I'm off to bed now, trying not to awake the wife while doing so, 'cause...😤 dang...🤣
Cheers buddy 🎼🎶🔊🤘 and enjoy your cold ones in a while!
where did u get the Bob Ross t-shirt you are wearing?
🤘🦊🤘
Nice:-)
This is one of my favorite Babymetal tunes. It has so many elements but the lyrics get to me the most. By the way. Japanese metal is certainly on top of the world at the moment. Theres a new band caled NEMOPHILA that you must check out. They are my favorite atm with BM and Nightwish. Check out NEMOPHILA-DISSENSION. Best new band for 20/21 in this COVID era.
