Cat Motor Grader 1948 Model #12

Harry's starting the main diesel engine with the 2 cylinder gas powered pony engine. Common coolant warms up the diesel. He spins the diesel with the compression release on for a few minutes, then turns off the compression release and turns on the fuel to the diesel. The tired old Cat needs a few shot of ether to get it going.

Had one of those. A real STUBBORN starter, especially if it was the least bit cold. No hydraulic and a bitch to drive. I really miss it.

The Galion Grader with hand start that always fires right up thanks to the mighty IH engine seems like a much more attractive machine personally

Fuel pressure is a much
